ABOUT THE ARTIST


DR Anindita Mukherjee, an Indian classical vocalist, started her musical journey at the tender age of five. She received tutelage in Khayal from Pt. Nihar Ranjan Banerjee of the Bishnupur Gharana and Dhrupad and Dhamar from DR Kaberi Kar of the Dagar Gharana.

In 1983, her outstanding performance earned her a place in the first division at Bengal Music College. For eight consecutive years, she was a regular performer of Khayal on the Yuvabani Section of All India Radio. In 1993, she was distinguished with third place at a prestigious competition of Dhrupad / Dhamar held by the State Music Academy (Government of West Bengal).

DR Anindita Mukherjee is a brilliant harmony of music and academia. She earned her M.A. in History and Vocal Music and followed that up with a Ph.D. She started her lecturership in 1997 at Rabindra Bharati University.

Furthermore, she is a graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Her teaching has taken her to numerous Colleges and Universities where she has held workshops and seminars. DR Mukherjee is a familiar face at Bengal Music College and West Bengal State University (formerly Barasat University), where she frequently visits as an examiner.

DR Anindita Mukherjee has been fortunate enough to share her knowledge and expertise as a guest speaker at international seminars including Rajshahi University in Bangladesh and Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. Most notably, she is an excellent teacher having students all around the globe.
