The excitement was sky-high (literally!) as we boarded our overnight flight to Amsterdam, officially kicking off our European adventure. For many travelers—including Mr. Rose—this was their very first time on such a long flight. There was a mix of nerves, excitement, and a lot of wondering: "Will I actually sleep on the plane?" (Spoiler: some did, some... not so much.)
As we settled into our seats, the hum of the plane and glow of the cabin lights reminded us: this isn’t just a vacation—it’s the start of something unforgettable. Laughter echoed from rows of classmates playing games and watching movies, while others curled up with neck pillows and tried to catch some shut-eye before landing.
Somewhere over the Atlantic, the reality began to set in—we’re really doing this. We’re going to see the world, try new things, and make memories that we’ll talk about for years.
First stop: Amsterdam. Adventure awaits, and we’re ready for it! 🌍🇳🇱🛫
After an overnight flight, we landed in Amsterdam at 7 AM—excited, slightly delirious, and ready to take on the day (with a little help from adrenaline and snacks). Despite the jet lag, our students showed incredible resilience and enthusiasm from start to finish!
We kicked things off with a walking tour through Amsterdam Centrum, where we got our first real look at the city’s charm—cobblestone streets, flower-lined canals, and more bikes than we could count. Along the way, we even picked up a few Dutch words and phrases from our Tour Director to help us navigate and connect. (“Dank je wel” – thank you!)
Next, we explored the quirky and colorful Waterlooplein market, where students browsed vintage clothes, street art, and all kinds of one-of-a-kind souvenirs. The city truly came alive through its markets and people.
Then came the friendly competition: an EF Tours Immersive Scavenger Hunt! In teams, we ran (okay, briskly walked) around the city solving clues, completing creative challenges, and learning about Amsterdam through a new lens. It was fast-paced, fun, and full of surprises!
After a bit more shopping along the lively Kalverstraat, we wrapped up the evening with dinner at Wagamama—a perfect blend of global flavors and warm vibes. For some of us, it was also a mini cultural lesson in its own right: learning how to use chopsticks for the first time!
Finally, we checked in to our hotel—exhausted but proud of how much we experienced in just one day. As heads hit pillows, there was no doubt: Day 2 was a huge win, and we’re ready for even more adventures to come. 🇳🇱✨🥢

Today was a beautiful mix of reflection, connection, and classic Dutch experiences. We began the day with a powerful visit to the Anne Frank House, walking through the rooms where Anne and her family hid during World War II. The silence inside said more than words ever could. It was humbling, moving, and something we’ll carry with us for a long time.
We were especially lucky to be joined by Mrs. Whidby, who met up with us to share this experience. Having her there made the visit even more meaningful, and gave us a chance to reflect together on the importance of empathy, courage, and remembering the past.
After that emotional morning, we lightened the mood with a scenic boat tour through the canals of Amsterdam. Gliding past tilted houses, charming bridges, and colorful bikes, it felt like floating through a painting. The breeze, the laughter, and the laid-back rhythm of the boat gave us a much-needed moment to relax and take it all in. (Some of even fell asleep!)
Next, we made our way to the picturesque seaside village of Volendam for a delicious meal of fish and chips (with the option of trying local specialties!), followed by time to wander and shop the adorable waterfront stores. Between the sea views, souvenirs, and sweet treats, it was a perfect little coastal escape.
We ended the day at the enchanting Zaanse Schans, where the iconic windmills stood tall against the sky. We explored the village, sampled creamy, flavorful cheeses, and of course—stocked up on our favorites to bring home! 🧀🌬️
From deep reflection to breezy boat rides and windmill wonder, Day 3 gave us a full picture of the heart, history, and charm of the Netherlands. 🇳🇱💛

Breakfast? Conquered. Bags? Packed. Spirits? Unreasonably high for this hour of the morning .
With a belly full of breakfast, we boarded our trusty bus and pointed it toward our next great adventure: Brussels, Belgium! 🇧🇪🚌
From our window seats (prime napping territory, by the way), we glimpsed the mighty European Union buildings and the futuristic silver golf-ball-on-stilts known as the Atomium.
Before our brains could even process more history, we kicked off our Belgian adventure the sweetest way possible: making our very own chocolates. Yes, real handmade chocolates — by us, a bunch of travelers powered by sugar and questionable focus. While "Don’t Stop Me Now" blasted in the background, we proved that Queen was right: nothing can stop us when we’re covered in chocolate.
Then our superhero and Tour Director, Liz, guided us through Brussels’ charming cobblestone streets. She gave us front-row views of the city’s most famous public urinator — the Manneken Pis. Not to be outdone, his sister statue, Jeanneke Pis, made her own splash. It turns out Brussels really appreciates a good bathroom joke carved in bronze.
After that highbrow cultural moment, we wandered into the magnificent Grand-Place (which is basically a fairytale come to life, but with more pigeons) and browsed the shops until our stomachs reminded us they hadn’t signed up for intermittent fasting — so we demolished burgers and waffles at Café Casco because calories don’t count when you’re sightseeing, obviously.
Finally, we made it to our hotel where, depending on luck and room assignment, some of us chilled out with glorious air conditioning, while others got an authentic European summer experience: propping windows open and hoping for a breeze.
All in all, Brussels didn’t stand a chance. We came, we saw, we ate chocolate, and we posed with peeing statues. Onward to the next adventure! 🚍✨

Today was a whirlwind of Parisian charm, cultural gems, and unforgettable surprises—one of those days where every corner felt like a scene from a movie.
We began in the iconic Montmartre neighborhood, famous for its artistic soul and breathtaking views. The climb to the top of the stairs leading to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica was no joke—especially in the hot summer sun—but for more than one of us, getting to the top felt like a real accomplishment. (Cue the the dramatic but victorious gasp for air 😅!)
Once we reached the summit, we were rewarded with sweeping views of Paris and time to explore the buzzing artist square. Students browsed stalls of original artwork, picked up souvenirs, and soaked in the vibrant, creative energy that makes Montmartre so special.
Later, we headed to the lively Latin Quarter, where we had free time to shop, take photos, and explore nearby landmarks. Some students took the opportunity to step inside Shakespeare and Company, one of the oldest and most famous bookstores in Paris. Fun fact: if you purchase a book there, it’s stamped with their signature logo—a unique Paris-only souvenir for your bookshelf!
Others visited the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral, taking in the beauty of its Gothic architecture and reflecting on its deep history.
As evening approached, our fantastic Tour Director, Liz, guided us through the festive streets to our dinner spot. We arrived a little early—just in time to stumble upon an incredible surprise: a live French rap performance happening right outside our restaurant! A local artist had set up a small stage, and we got to enjoy the show while waiting for our table. The streets around us were buzzing with energy, and we soon learned why: it was “Fête de la Musique” (World Music Day), a city-wide celebration of music. All around us, locals danced, sang, and filled the streets with joy. It was an unforgettable, only-in-Paris moment.
Dinner was delicious and classically French: we enjoyed hearty Beef Bourguignon and ended the evening with rich, creamy chocolate mousse for dessert.
From hilltop views to historic bookstores, cathedral visits to surprise concerts, today was full of unexpected joy and lasting memories. Paris truly showed off today—and we loved every minute of it. 🇫🇷🎶📸
Today was a journey through the grandeur of French history—from iconic monuments in the heart of Paris to the glittering legacy of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette at Versailles.
We began the day with a guided bus tour through Paris, soaking in views of the legendary Eiffel Tower, the mighty Arc de Triomphe, and the neoclassical beauty of the Panthéon. Our guide painted the city’s rich past with stories of emperors, revolutionaries, and the rise of the City of Light. It was the perfect way to begin our final deep dive into France’s history.
Next, we traveled just outside the city to the Palace of Versailles—once home to the opulence and extravagance of the French royal court. Before stepping into palace life, we explored the charming Versailles market for lunch. Fresh baguettes, gooey cheese, fresh fruites, pastries, and street musicians set the scene for a lovely afternoon.
Then, we entered the palace gates—and stepped into another world. Louis XIV, known as the Sun King, designed Versailles to reflect his absolute power. And wow… it delivered! We toured the stunning Hall of Mirrors, the gold-trimmed State Apartments, and room after room that left us speechless with their sheer scale and luxury.
We also learned about the life of Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France before the Revolution. Known for her lavish lifestyle, she retreated from palace life to her own private estate nearby, where she sought a simpler existence—but her image as a symbol of excess would follow her to the end. Hearing her story added a human layer to all the grandeur—reminding us that history is not just about places, but people too.
After our tour, we explored the breathtaking palace gardens, where the symmetry, fountains, and floral displays wowed us all. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get more magical—some of us went rowing on the Grand Canal! With the sun shining and Versailles glimmering in the distance, it was peaceful, picturesque, and a little bit surreal.
From royal history to scenic paddling, today was packed with elegance, education, and just the right amount of adventure.
Merci, Versailles—you were unforgettable. 🇫🇷✨⛲
Today was a beautiful blend of art, history, and creativity—a day where Paris felt like a living museum and we got to be part of the canvas.
We started our morning at the charming Fragonard Perfume Factory (Musée du Parfum Fragonard), where the air was filled with soft floral notes and the elegance of old-world Paris. We learned about the history of French perfume-making, how different scents are crafted, and even tested our noses with fragrance strips. Who knew creating a signature scent was part chemistry, part storytelling?
From fragrance to fine art, our next stop was the legendary Louvre Museum. We wandered through halls filled with centuries of artistic treasures, pausing to admire works like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and more. It was surreal to stand before paintings and sculptures we’ve seen in textbooks—now just inches away.
We ended the day with something truly special: an art lesson on the very island that inspired Georges Seurat’s “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte.” The river shimmered nearby as we settled in with paintbrushes and palettes. We learned about Impressionism, the power of perspective, and how to compose a painting with feeling. Then, guided by inspiration and a bit of Monet magic, we painted our own water lily masterpieces—souvenirs we’ll take home, each one as unique as the day itself.
From scent to sight to self-expression, today reminded us how art connects us across time—and brings beauty into the everyday. 🇫🇷🎨💐
After so many unforgettable moments across Europe, it was time to head home. Our return flight from Paris to Dallas was a long one—10 hours straight with no connections—but it gave us just enough time to reflect, rest, and relive our favorite memories together.
Before we boarded, we had a mini awards ceremony at the gate—celebrating the stand-out moments and people from our trip. There were laughs, applause, and a few sentimental smiles as we recognized everything from best travel buddy to most impressive souvenir haul.
With a little time to spare, we squeezed in some last-minute souvenir and duty-free shopping, grabbing those final Parisian chocolates, perfumes, and keepsakes we just had to take home.
As the plane soared over the Atlantic, many of us drifted to sleep, scrolled through hundreds of photos, or chatted softly about the places we'd seen, the lessons we’d learned, and the friendships we’d strengthened.
And then—just like that—we landed in Dallas, greeted by smiling parents, tight hugs, and excited loved ones. We stepped off the plane a little more tired, but also a little more confident, curious, and connected to the world than when we first left.
Now, with bags unpacked and stories ready to tell, we’re home—hearts full, passports stamped, and memories that will last a lifetime. 💫🌍🇺🇸
