How to Train Your Dragon is a popular animated series from DreamWorks Animation. Its content revolves around Berk land of the Vikings and dragons. Many game developers have inspired this movie to create great games. Among them, the most prominent is Dragons: Rise of Berk, with more than 10 million installs from Google Play, exclusively released by Ludia.

The content of Dragons: Rise of Berk is largely based on the content of the second part of How to Train Your Dragon. You will join Hiccup and Toothless to protect Berk from invasion, and acquire and nurture new dragons.

Storyline

Previously, the Vikings had a tradition of killing dragons, and that reflected the maturity and courage of each person. But, Hiccup – son of the patriarch stood out to reconcile, so that the Vikings and dragons can live in peace together.

Gameplay

The main goal that you need to achieve in Dragons: Rise of Berk is to protect Berk and rescue the dragon eggs.

For Berk to be safe, you need to train dragons, because they are the main fighting force in the war. However, when you first join the game, most dragons are not available. You will use “Book of Dragons” to explore new lands, then search for the dragon eggs. After that, you need to start the incubation process for them to hatch.

When the baby dragons are born, you can place them on locations on the island. Their favorite food is fish, and they will grow through levelling up.

As a normal dragon levelled up, they gained new abilities. This includes the ability to catch fish, collect ingredients for the island and new combat skills.

Upgrade your island

Berk always has constraints when you upgrade dragons. Meade Hall and Academy are two main buildings, directly affecting dragons. If these two buildings are not upgraded and expanded, the dragons cannot go beyond level 12, while Berk can only build up to 2 barns for dragons to live.

The Meade Hall upgrade will be required when the Academy reaches certain levels. Meanwhile, Academy will only be upgraded when Berk has a sufficient number of Vikings House.

And when the Academy is large enough, you can build new stables for dragons. Otherwise, they will be sent into the Hangar.

The Arena

Besides finding and nurturing dragons, you can also take them to the battlefield to fight against dragon hunters and are trying to invade Berk.

In general, the game includes team, turn-based and tactical battles. You select a group of three warriors and search for another opponent’s group. The gameplay is quite simple when you, in turn, choose the fighting skill for each dragon, then choose the target you want to attack.

Each dragon is simulated as a card. They have their own stats and abilities. And you can upgrade to improve their abilities and strength during combat.
