Can I keep what I catch? 

Dragonfly Fishing Co. practices catch and release fishing only.

Do you provide gear for each angler? 

Yes, we provide everything you'll need from fly rods to conventional tackle and of course, a great teacher.

Do I need a Virginia fishing license?

Yes. You'll need a Virginia freshwater fishing license to fish without penalty.  Please see the link for Virginia Fishing License website on our Forms and FAQ page.

What species will we target? 

Smallmouth Bass is our primary focus, but you can connect with other species on the trip as well.  Species such as Bluegill, Fallfish, Catfish, Rockbass, and on rare occasions Musky.

How do I know what the fishing conditions are for my trip? 

You can look at the bottom of our home page for the current river levels or send us a message anytime before your trip and we can let you know about water levels, weather, and general river conditions. 

What do I need to bring with me for my trip? 

• Sunscreen, bug spray (but rarely needed), hat, and cover shirt to prevent sunburn

• Sunglasses (polarized if possible) or eye protection, especially if you plan on fly fishing

• River sandals or sneakers for foot protection if you want to get out of the raft and wade during warm water conditions (No Flip-Flops)

• Plenty of water or sports drinks (no glass containers)

• Pack a meal and snacks (extra water will be provided)

• A ziplock or water proof case for your phone

• Fishing license from the Virginia DWR

Can I bring my own fishing equipment? 

Of course, you can!  Though we will have all the equipment you need!

Do you provide life jackets? 

Yes, we do!  All clients that are 13 years of age or older do not have to wear a life jacket at all times.    Federal Regulations for PFD's apply to this river.

What is the youngest age you take on trips? 

With an adult, 13 years of age is the youngest we are taking on trips at this time.
