NONCOVALENT INTERACTIONS LABORATORY

Welcome to the Noncovalent Interactions Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at GITAM Deemed University. Our research group is dedicated to exploring the intriguing world of noncovalent interactions—attractive forces between electron-deficient and electron-rich regions that are vital to the structure and function of chemically and biologically significant molecules. While hydrogen bonding is widely recognized and extensively studied for its pervasive role, our work extends beyond this traditional realm. We focus on investigating a diverse array of noncovalent interactions, including halogen, chalcogen, pnictogen, tetrel, and triel bonding. In addition to unraveling the fundamental principles and characteristics of these interactions, we are committed to exploring their practical applications in fields such as crystal engineering, catalysis, and materials design.
