Biography
Dr. Chinmay Chakraborty, SM-IEEE, MACM, received a Post-doctoral fellowship at the Federal University of Piauí, Brazil, and also worked at the University of Malta in Europe and Chongqing Tech. & Business Univ., China, served as Research Associate, University of South Florida, USA. He has worked as a Research Consultant in the Coal India project at Industrial Engineering & Management, IIT Kharagpur, also served as the Project Coordinator of the Telecommunication Convergence Switch project under the Indo-US joint initiative. He is an Associate Professor and Head, COIR in Medical Technology, KIIT University, India. His main research interests include the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), AI/ML, Communication & Computing, Telemedicine, m-Health/e-health, and Medical Imaging. Dr. Chakraborty has a strong publication record with over 250 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences, and book chapters. He has also authored 35+ books, obtained 6+ patents, and edited 25+ special issues in the field.
In addition to his research work, Dr. Chakraborty is actively involved in the academic community. He serves as an Editorial Board Member for various journals and conferences and holds positions as Deputy EiC of IEEE TCEL, a Senior Editor of IEEE JETCAS, an Associate Editor for IEEE TII, IEEE SJ, IEEE Sens., IECE, IJEECS, Journal of Biomedical and Biological Sciences, HCIS, Springer BMC Bioinformatics, JIFS, IJECD, Int. He has also conducted sessions and served as a General Chair for international conferences.
Dr. Chakraborty has received several awards and recognition's for his excellence in research and teaching. He has been honored with the Best Session Runner-up Award, Young Research Excellence Award, Global Peer Review Award, and Young Faculty Award. His contributions have also been recognized with the Outstanding Researcher Award and Outstanding Paper in the 2022 Emerald Literati Awards. He has secured a top 2% position among global scientists in "Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing" by Stanford University in both 2021-25. He has also received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Europe Fellowship Grant, Horizon 2023, and has been nominated as a "Prominent Young Researcher" at the National Frontiers of Engineering Symposium, National Academy of Engineering (INAE), SERB, Govt. of India. He Received Prize Ideation Startup Competition at the ANRF (SERB) - INAE Conclave, 2025. He received BIT Faculty Appreciation Award BITFAA'24, Highest Citation Received during 2023, 2024 and nominated as AICTE-Distinguished Professional, 2025 .
