I recently shifted from a Chromebook to a Surface Go 3 and really love it. The only thing missing is a tablet-style reading experience for PDFs and eBooks (but mainly PDFs). Yes, I know Acrobat has a "reader" mode, but it's a huge piece of software that takes up a great deal of space on my tiny internal HD. I've tried Soda PDF Reader, but find the UI lacking and difficult to use.

Does anybody know a descent PDF reader that may meet above criterion to some extent? I read PDF a lot for research, and I am willing to pay for a good solution. If there is such an app in MacOS, I'm willing to buy a MacBook.
