But, my Wordpress knowledge aren't enough to do it. So, I'm asking you if you know a great book, website etc, where they are explaining simply how to create a new theme (understand every features of Wordpress, explaining every functions in the functions.php file, how to add correctly Wordpress post content).

What I did was create all the files and save them in a folder, then upload them as needed. I copied them from this simple tutorial and although says its to create a designed theme, it has nothing but basic blank theme:

So I came up with this idea, what if I make the website the way I like it to, vanilla HTML, CSS. But to have that site be a wordpress compatible theme or something like that so that they can use their plugins etc.

I read the Digging into WordPress book and am a fan. Wondering if you use BLANK as a parent theme and create your project theme as a child, or simply style the BLANK theme directly? I tried using the parent-child theme approach using Sandbox on my last project but ended up modifying most of the templates so am not sure how valuable the approach was in that case but like the parent-child approach in theory. Also, do you plan to maintain and update BLANK with future releases of WordPress?

I'm all about building things myself. Others have another mindset. I had to deal with premade themes when I was interning and do "Theme Augmentations" for the clients. So it's not bad to learn that either as people want a cheap option and theme augmentation provides such a cheap alternative. However I try to dissuade people from going that route if at all possible.

Theme's are pretty easy to get going yourself. Why not just build your own blank theme and and add in whatever framework you want. You can probably have a functioning , blank theme with one of these frameworks attached in about 15 minutes time.

I want something fast and that works reliably. A starter theme would help me since Im still not an expert at this. I took the Bootstrap wordpress theme course here which was awesome, but thought I would start with a starter theme just to be safe. Thoughts?

Although I'm with Kevin its really pretty easy to make your own. It's been a bit of a challenge and some learning curve on some things but I have been building a project for a client I started off of the bootstrap / wordpress tutorial. I just used that as a starting point and continued to build on it.
