Contact app needs to show the WhatsApp symbol as shown in above image for valid whatsapp phone number. This feature was working great in my old samsung phone.

I have a Samsung tablet, the sim version. Can I use whatsapp directly or do I need to use the tablet only as linked to another mobile? I have downloaded whatsapp but it asks me to link a device. I can make calls, send sms, etc. from the tablet but cannot make whatsapp to work independently.

Edit: Solved this. On the "link to device" screen, there is a 3 dot menu on top right, which has an option to add a new account (i.e., mobile number). I selected that option, it took me to the 'enter number' option, got the otp and now I can make whatsapp to work independently. Possibly, on tablets, Samsung/Whatsapp presume that by default you want to link it to a device. Thanks everyone :)

Yessss I've cracked it!! I went into galaxy wearable app on phone, go into settings and scroll down to galaxy apps and there were updates needed to be done, done those and it's worked since. So I now have messenger and WhatsApp notifications, happy, happy birthday girl today as it was driving me nuts ? hope it works for you too, let me know

Hi spoke to samsung he said he hasn't heard of it before and basically just done a reset on the watch. Have to wait to see if anything changes today and if not have to call them back tomorrow. Sorry there is no fix its driving me nuts too !!!

If I try to write in Whatsapp chat, it shows the Samsung virtual keyboard where if I press this button (it's like an arrow that goes down and to the left, I believe it's the same as the the enter key in pc):

Note: If I use my Galaxy S9 phone and try to use the exact same button (arrow down and to the left), it does the new line as expected so it seems like an issue with the tablet only. It also works if I use my tablet and the same arrow button in Skype app, it then does a new line as expected so it seems to be limited to samsung s6 lite tablet/android/whatsapp app combo (so one of the 3 is at fault here for this bug, samsung, android or whatsapp).

I tried to call Samsung support, they did some troubleshooting with me, we did cache clearing for Whatsapp app, it seem like it resolved the problem after that, but after few minutes the issue came back again.
