Been encountering an issue for some months now where if one does a WhatsApp video call between the Portal Plus (15.6") and an iPhone, the iPhone's video drops out on the Portal after a few seconds, and only audio remains. No issues between Portal and WhatsApp on Android phones.

As you cannot answer these in Beeper, you need to keep the original whatsapp notifications for them in place. However, the notification from whatsapp (that contains the answer button) gets overwritten everytime by the useless notification from Beeper that I should answer this in Whatsapp... which I can't because the notificaiton is gone.

The calls features are only available in WhatsApp native Desktop app 64-bit(Which the official website show that only Mac and window native app for desktop are available ), not in WhatsApp Web,and unfortunately they haven't developed the native app for Linux. The one which we are installing and using from Ubuntu-Software is Web version. That's why the call feature is not available in that.

If you are really interested in using WhatsApp, then the solution is to install an Android emulator such as Genymotion and within that emulator install and use WhatsApp. This will enable the video and audio calling features.

Signal is made with the help of the original WhatsApp-Developer and it is much better. You have better voice quality if you call someone, you have Video-call integrated in the desktop-App and everything what you have with the phone-App. You can send pictures with original quality, they will not be converted down if you do not want it.

I am wondering if there is a way I can detect a skype call/telegram/whatsapp/fb messenger call etc in progress or incoming call etc just like the regular phone call with telephony manager/listener? I would like to have some kind of mechanism that detects an ongoing /incoming etc call from skype/telegram etc for my app. I came across this solution :Call Detection for skype in android but not sure if it'll work for all generic messenger apps. Is there a hack or any kind of listener I can implement on my side that allows me to detect these? Any ideas would be awesome.

Set up a three-way call with two computers on your side. The magic computer has no microphone or a microphone in full Mute. Set up to record the speaker or headphone feed. Start the recording. You two carry on as normal. The magic third computer listens to everything and shovels it all off to Audacity with little or no damage.

i am having issues with lowering the volume during a video call. i am running ios 11.0.3 with iphone 7 plus. my whatsaspp version is the latest one. i have tried hard reset etc. I have the same issue when i make a whatsapp voice call and use speakers. I can not adjust the volume during the call. Anybody else having similar issues? This is a brand new device and no damages. The volume issue does not happen on other apps like facetime.

While listening to podcasts or watching videos, my bluetooth headset has good quality audio. However when I receive a phone call, the phone call audio crackles and breaks up. It is audible, but the same way a very bad quality phone call from across the globe is still audible. The audio of the call is in actuality just fine and the crackling etc. appears somewhere between the phone and the headset, since if i drop the bluetooth connection and continue on speaker or normally, phone-on-ear, there are no issues at all.

@JulieWok If it's not working, it's likely that there is a proxy action or application control rule blocking it. Do you see any deny lines in your firewall's traffic monitor when you try and initiate a call. That should help point you in the right direction on what needs to be modified.

I'd suggest determining why it's being blocked before making rule changes.

I would be very disappointed if that was the case, I understand there would be slight delay but I wouldn't expect it to hang up. I have a Samsung S21. The routers are definitely close enough though they are 2 rooms max away and both have a "great connection" with the main router.

In June 2023, WhatsApp announced an additional privacy feature: Silence Unknown Callers. We launched this feature for the benefits it has for not only privacy but also security. The experience is simple: with the setting turned on, calls from unknown numbers do not ring your phone. Having carefully built this feature to minimize attack surface and external data processing, we are able to help protect users from not only unwanted contact, but also cyber attacks and spyware.

Instead, WhatsApp built a specialized protocol for delivering stripped-down, silenced call notifications to recipients. The server enforces this protocol, protecting the recipient device from the complexity of normal call setup and from processing attacker-controlled data.

This is very anoying, why do I need a watch for notifications when I don't get them and I need my phone on LOUD otherwise I miss all my calls ? Nobody at Garmin cares about this issue . I'm having it for 2 years now and I had the fenix 5x pro and also Marq edition. We buy their watches only for them not to care making them work for the most crucial feature of them all , NOTIFICATIONS

You're omitting a very important piece of information. It's unclear why I'm being charged a lot of money based on the information AT&T has provided to me. What I suspect is another matter. AT&T should not be allowed to tell me that I won't get charged for international calls, and then charge me for international calls. That, my friend, is what you call a scam.

@ElliasandBrighton WhatsApp is the one advertising that you can make free international calls with it. AT&T never said they would give free calls through WhatsApp. This is 100% WhatsApp's problem. Also, you have received multiple notifications advising you of the valid international charges that yo are incurring.

In addition to sending text messages, you can use WhatsApp to make voice calls. Because calls are made over the Internet, there will be no charges made or minutes used by your cellular plan. However, if you're not connected to a Wi-Fi network, voice calls will use up data from your data plan.

All three of these methods will begin a call with the person you've selected. Once that person accepts the call, you're good to go. You have the option of muting the call, sending a message, and using the speaker by tapping the corresponding buttons. When you're done with the call, simply tap the end call button.

When someone calls you via WhatsApp, it will look similar to when you receive a regular phone call, but it will display the words WhatsApp Audio somewhere on the screen. In our example, our screenshot is from an iPhone, so it may look different to you depending on the device you're using. Simply tap or slide the answer button to accept the call.

@rares If I'm correct, your issue is the same as me ?

When a call comes or go, it's okay for the reception. But as soon as we answer the call or they answer the call, we have on the phone that the "connection is in progress" (in other words). The connection never establish.

No. As soon as they answer the phone goes into Media mode. There is a period of 1-2 seconds where it tries to start the call (see/hear the other party) and then it disconnects. The WhatsApp window shows an error message about the WiFi network not allowing calls.

I would like to see if anyone had any success with making Whatsapp calls and/or video to work using an internal wifi network.

When I try to make a call with my cell phone, I will see "ringing..." and hear the phone ringing. The receiving side will pick up, but my side will still just see "ringing." After about 10 seconds, the call fails. For a testing policy, I've allowed ANY to ANY traffic , no filtering of any kind. I chose the application, whatsapp-base, whatsapp-web, whatsapp-video, and I also allowed:

It is not possible to receive a call through WhatsApp while in a Zoom call. WhatsApp and Zoom are separate platforms and do not have the capability to integrate with each other in that way. If you need to take a call on WhatsApp while in a Zoom call, you will need to exit the Zoom call and take the gb WhatsApp call separately.

I had a similar situation and called Airbnb customer service. She told me it is Airbnb policy to keep all communication on the platform so there is a thread of all communication to protect both parties. I followed her advice.

I would tell her until there is a booking, it is standard policy to keep all communication on the Airbnb app. Most people attempt to send me an email address or a phone number which is automatically blocked by Airbnb in the message system. I would be very skeptical of anyone trying to communicate outside of the system, although some people do want to hear a voice at times.

Interestingly, I have the + sign for every single contact of mine. The local numbers with the + sign appear perfectly on the watch for WhatsApp calls. I don't understand why this is an issue for international numbers with the + sign.

However, this is a big issue that definitely needs to be corrected. These are trivial things that just irritate me. I am a huge fan of Android but I am beginning to understand why Apple is the most value company in the world. Their ecosystem just works perfectly!

Got my Galaxy watch 6 recently and I have installed whatsApp in it. Ever since the installation, im not receiving any text message notification. Also not showing contact names while receiving voice calls over the app( It just shows number only). I have my notification allowed in app settings for whatsapp, dont know if this is some bug samsung need to fix, contacted whatsapp but no response. Anybody else having this issue? 2351a5e196
