Although the project had been progressing smoothly, we hadn't yet come up with that crucial key element. Around that time, the final specifications for the Nintendo DS had been decided and we were presented with exactly the angle we had been looking for: to produce a game that made the most of the stylus concept. It was obvious that this kind of game would be ideal for the Nintendo DS and so we decided to go ahead with the project. The problem that we were facing was that to develop the game ready for release at the same time as the DS, we faced an extremely tight schedule. And aside from that, the development of the second Game Boy Advance game was well underway.

With about 200 lightning-quick microgames and controls that range from scribbling to flailing, WarioWare: Smooth Moves takes interactive gaming to a whole new level! All players need is a Wii Remote and their best moves to be the champ.

The game opens with Wario stumbling upon a temple that contains a mystical, suspiciously Wii Remote-shaped item known as the form baton. From there, the game progresses as the series has always progressed. You select one of the residents of Wario's fair city, and a brief, nonsensically charming intro animation plays. These animations are great, are occasionally funny, and look really fantastic. The smooth edges on the characters really stand out and give the whole presentation a very cartoonlike vibe. These intro sequences also set up the action a bit, but there's no way of preparing for what happens next.

Rhythm heaven fever isn't out in Europe yet but Warioware: smooth moves is an awesome game and I think its far better than Rhythm paradise on DS so I doubt I would like Rhythm heaven fever as much as WW:SM either. WW:SM is great in multi-player but its a lot of fun in single player too.

In his home of Diamond City, Wario discovers an old building called the Temple of Form. Inside, he finds a treasure known as the Form Baton. The legend goes that if the holder follows the forms, he can ultimately overcome any challenge. The word is spread in the city and soon everybody tries to master the moves.

Basically you fail a level before you even figure out what's going on, and have to replay several times to beat it. Now, there are Japanese avant-garde experimental games that are meant to provide a huge sense of frustration, and even though Smooth Moves isn't quite that hard (it's easy to beat a level after 2 or 3 attempts), the design philosophy behind it is similar.
