I used the default voice recorder on the watch and I want to back them up to my phone. When I go to the voice recorder app setting for voice recorder, I uncheck "auto copy to phone", then tap "copy to phone now". It will say transferring for a second then disappears. Since I don't have a Samsung phone, I'm not sure if or where it would even copy to on my phone. Is there another way to get the voice recordings from my watch to either my phone or computer?

When I first started doing interviews to write articles and stories I did try using recorders but found them to be clunky and not user friendly for me. Times have changed. New recording devices are now user friendly, even sleek for a decent price. As mentioned before, a recording device is more necessary for my work now, so I set out to find the one best for me. Hence, a series of product reviews. For me, I need something simple. I want to use my time to do the interviewing and the writing and not worrying about my recording device. After trying a lot of options, this continues to be my standby.

So always remember to update the date and time when batteries are replaced.

What I have done so far here is to use a good Android Voice Recorder, which is Easy Voice Recorder App ( =com.digipom.easyvoicerecorder.pro&hl=en&gl=US).

This App has a very nice widget, that I put on the top left corner of my Android device. To record an audio, I just press the widget (a red ball) and it turns into a white block. Then I know it's recording already. I say what I need to say, that is "dictate" my note and then press the white block again. It goes back to the red ball.

What I also miss *A LOT* is a dictation service for those audio files , that is : voice into text (audio transcription). Then I cold have inside my note my original audio AND the corresponding text, generated automatically. I could edit/repair this text of course and save the note again, keeping the original audio.

A few (maybe 3-4) years ago, Evernote acquihired someone who was working on a voice to text transcription service that could support and recognize multiple speakers, and I was excited about the possibility of integrating this technology into Evernote. There was even an Evernote technical blog post [Edit: found the link!] that hinted about a vision of supporting business meetings (e.g. recording, auto-transcribing, and making searchable team meetings, perhaps with the audio synced to shared notes being made collaboratively by the team). But then the Evernote leadership changed, a new direction was set, and none of that came to pass.

Voice to text transcription service embeded on Evernote would make such a difference : they already have large scale (great base of customers) and could negotiate a good deal with some voice 2 text transcription service out there. There are plenty of them as I've seen. But they're not affordable, as you probably know, for us final customers. EN could even create (offer) a new subscription plan that would incorporate this Voice to Text service.

I researched several Voice to Text services out there. But I'm a single user, retired, at home. I don't have such a budget. And this feature is not a "live or die" situation of course. It's an accessorie. Through this researched I had seen Google Recorder App too. Seems very nice and I guess it works pretty well. Hope Google may release this to all of Android users anytime soon.

A user complained that when trying to move a file from the voice recorder to another location, the file disappeared. Thinking it was user error, I logged on to her system and clicked a file in voice recorder, and the file disappeared. I checked the file location (user\documents\sound recordings) and the files that had just been in the recording list and disappeared, were not there. Nothing in recycle bin. There was an unsaved file which we restored but it was not the missing files.

I assumed that the user had moved/deleted the files from the file location earlier or something, so I tested on my system. I could delete a file from the file location and still play the recording on voice recorder. Clicking the file in voice recorder did NOT make the file disappear.

The user was using FILR to access her files remotely. I did a sync there as well as looked at the original destination she was trying to get the files to (and she reported she SAW them there), but they were not there.

I plan on doing a system restore as a last resort.

Anyone seen behavior like this before? Any suggestions?

For now I think I will write a python script or so that automatically converts the webm files. I use syncthing for sharing the state of my vault to all my devices, it should be able to trigger my script when it detects a change in the directory.
