I have been looking around online to see that i can change some router settings that might help. As I believe that i can only use a Vodafone router directly into the port (again im not sure if this makes sense i am very bad with these things)

The APN (Access Point Name) settings need to be correctly set up on your phone, tablet or modem to access the internet on the Vodafone network. This includes sending and receiving picture messages and emails on your device.

When I first started up the phone, I installed the Vodafone App as asked when going through the installation procedure and this set-up the Contract APN settings for me automatically. It does give you a choice of Contract or PAYG.

I never set-up another APN for Data connectivity and everything worked as expected. That is until I got into work the next day (after initial set-up), my signal was good as always but I was not getting much in the way of Data access like I was used to. I checked the Network forum and nothing was raised there, so then thought to check my APN settings (above).

I am sure there are other questions, but for now this should be enough to get some clarity/opinions from others on what should be the de facto set-up for us who are on a vodafone contract. Apologies to those PAYG customers, though I am sure there may be some benefit to the knowledge gleamed from here also.

You can create a vlan, you just need to know the number to tag the data. Contact Vodafone and ask for the settings. I am in Italy and operators are obliged to release their credentials to their users and all the settings to use a modem other than that of the ISP.

Do you have a fibre gigafast vodafone broadband ? I mean do you have an extra small box (fibre box) at home on the wall ? I ask to be sure we have the same solution. I connect ethernet cable from that small fibre box to my openwrt router. Do you have the same ?

Did you restart that box before you connect your own router ?

I've got a Nighthawk M5 (Firmware NTGX55_12.04.17.00) and want to connect it to a Vodafone CallYa Prepaid Plan. The SIM Card does work with multiple other devices (iOS and Android) and did also work with the Nighthawk in the past (~ a month ago). Now however it can't connect to the Vodafone network. The APN settings are consistent with the (working) settings on the other devices, I've switched the PDP setting around to all possibilities (IPv4, IPv6, IPv4v6), but that didn't change the outcome. If I switch to manual network selection, It seemingly detects a Vodafone network, but it won't connect if I select said network. Is there maybe another setting that might allow a connection? Or maybe it's something on Vodafone's side? "Data" is on, and "Band Region" is "All", I'm in Germany and I've attached network diagnostics if that might help.

It currently seems to connect sometimes, without me changing any settings. This appears to be caused by the antenna, maybe it's not functioning correctly, since an Android Tablet is able to connect reliably and I'm assuming the antenna in this tablet should generally be worse than the antenna in the Nighthawk. We're going to contact the refurbished-seller we bought the device from.

The point is, I don't think this is an issue that can be fixed by changing a setting.

To cut this short and conclude, today it was confirmed that the lack of internet connection with the Vodafone PAYG data SIM and the M1 was twofold with one part being the settings created in the My Vodafone account being fixed by an admin and the M1 needing a full factory reset.

Our system automatically sends the proper settings to the devices that support the feature. When you've made your first phonecall using the device (on our network) we will send you the settings. This applies only to devices using a Vodafone Iceland SIM (does not apply to users roaming into our network).

Once the new settings have been entered, it is important to restart the device and make the new settings active. Remove the battery to make sure the device is fully rebooted, if the battery can not be removed have the device turned off for at least one minute. Make sure to activate the new settings.

@SonuHari i was also experiencing the same issue in vi sim,to solve this go to apn settings of the router(either in tether app or in the browser),create a new apn profile>set any profile name>pdp type ipv4&ipv6>set apn type to dynamic(if dynamic type doesnt work then select static and type 'www' in the apn column,try dynamic first)(this worked for me )

If its not listed, select "My plan is not listed" then you must put correct APN (Access point name ) for your connection. for this you need to contact your service brovider (Vodafone) and ask those settings, and most importantly whether there are Proxy settings.

Hi folks, hope you can help. I bought a brand new, unlocked Huawei P20 Pro online. Yesterday I put in my new giffgaff SIM, and my old Vodafone SIM and turned it on for the first time. My number was set to port from Vodafone to giffgaff. Today the number port has completed, so I've disabled the Vodafone SIM. However my phone is trying to install the Vodafone operator settings (stock apps etc) which I've screenshotted and attached. Just to be clear, this handset wasn't bought from Vodafone, it's unlcoked and was bought SIM free. It has no affiliation with Vodafone whatsoever.
