Hi All, Im student and I have almost all my lectures in VMware workstation. As I'm using a MacBook pro with M1 chip I need to install the VMware Workstation in another VM which has Windows OS inside my mac. I really do not know the possibility of this and I would highly appreciate if anyone could assist me with this matter.

Another option is "power on to firmware", try it, it goes to the BIOS. It's in the menu when right clicking a VM, or in the VM menu at the top. And in some versions of vmware workstation it's "power on to BIOS". In my version it's "power on to firmware" but it goes to the BIOS

I can (manually) open them using File->Open... and selecting the .vagrant\machines\puppet\vmware_workstation\some-unique-id...vmx file. But that's a bit annoying. Using VirtualBox, vagrant VMs are automatically added and removed from the Virtualbox GUI.

It is not support by Aruba officially but you can install it on vmware workstation. After installation, before powering up the VM, edit the VM and just add another hard drive with 80Gb or more capacity. You are good to go!

I clearly understand that the guide says the Hypervisor Supported are VMware ESXI. But I want to use it in my VMware workstation.

I have downloaded ovf template and installed it on the Workstation. the installation was completed quickly but in the CLI login, I'm getting stucked.

So my question is , If i can work on VMware workstation? or are there any workaround to get it resorted ? In vmware workstation, I have built PA labs using VM series Images before . I don't know if this trial image has any particular restrictions!

trying to deploy for testing purpose, F5 Version: 16.1.4.1 Build 0.0.5 on vmware workstation pro and connecting network cards as in host only mode, these don't seem to work, although the first card I connected for management responds to me and allows me to arrive on the apparatus.

for example the same configuration on other appliances such as fortigate works for me and I can see and use all the cards.

btw, i see you run it in windows host.

if you have windows pro, not home edition, you can enable hyper-v hypervisor.

it is a type1 hypervisor, similar to vmware esx, so it's much faster and better than type2 like vmware player/workstation.

I need to move a vm from VMware Workstation 10 towards ESX connected remotely within VMware Workstation 10. The issue is that when I try to drag and drop the Windows Server 2012 R2 from one place to another I get the error message you can see below (Upload Failed: Failed to open disk: Windows Server 2012 R2.vmdk). I thought it was an issue about permission, but I guess it si not, the vm is shutted down.I read the following article which it explain how to operate, but it didn't help: -9/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.ws.using.doc%2FGUID-8C854257-8595-4877-B985-1DC801E98E88.htmlI forgot to say that the host machine is a Windows Server 2003 SP2.

Hello,

I am trying to deploy 9800CL in Vmware workstation Pro but it does create ethernet interfaces once the image loads. I have tried various ISO's from cisco's 9800 website but no luck. Am I missing anything ? Thanks for help.

E.g ISO which I am using - C9800-CL-universalk9.16.12.04a.

@JThundley - I agree with you regarding issues with zen. I switched to linux-lts as suggested by @jihem and OS is way more stable but unfortunately vmware 17.5.x immediately hangs my thinkpad, so i will stay with 17.0.2 for a while. Maybe new version will solve it. I also disabled huge pages as wiki suggest, but it didn't help.

@wgustowski I think there's a problem with the latest release of linux-zen. I had all kinds of weird "rcu_preempt detected stalls on cpus/tasks" in dmesg and seemingly random programs would freeze up. I downgraded to the previous version and then had trouble building vmware modules for it so I decided to try the latest vmware. I'd recommend you do the same as me and downgrade your linux-zen and linux-zen-headers and run the latest vmware-workstation. Good luck!

VMware Workstation helps organizations deploy many applications and operating system workloads on a single server. Thus, it helps in better resource management. The workstation is an efficient and advisable solution for local desktop virtualization as it lets you securely run an additional operating system as a VM on a single computer. e24fc04721
