I am using VMPK - virtual midi piano keyboard, and would like to map its midi output as an input to pianoteq, but I am not sure how to go about this. I think I need a connection bus or some sort of digital interface. Anyone know how to do this? I searched and found other users were using VMPK on GNU/linux.

Good, I didn't know. It says right there in the Windows menu. A nice selection of controls are available in this view, too. The keyboard range, though, is much larger in VMPK, and a pure virtual keyboard front-end to pianoteq.

Now virtualpiano.net is popular and have used autohotkey to be able to play black and white notes at the same time...but I also want to be able to hold the key down which virtualpiano doesnt have ... any suggestions if you have used a better one ?

The keys from the row A,S,D and the row Z,X,C are programmed to play white key chords for rich melodies. Moreover, with advanced options you can assign any user-defined chord or single note to any key of the computer keyboard.Tick the CHORD checkbox to indicate a chord on the piano keyboard and then check it off to create a custom-made chord button. This button will play your chord but it can also be configured to be associated with a computer keyboard key.

You can record anything played by this virtual piano keyboard and play it back at will.To start and stop recording check and uncheck the box RECORD. A playback button will appear automatically. You can have many playback buttons: each with its own recording. You can even play back more than one recording at the same time while making another recording to combine them.

Please donate if you find this feature useful.I had to buy a more expensive hosting service to be able to run the script which generates MIDI files. And generally I struggle to find the time to work on my virtual pianobecause the website brings so little money that I need to focus all my efforts on my job just to survive financially.

You might also be interested in my virtual guitarthat plays all the major chords, minor chords, and dominant sevenths chords. In fact, it can play any chords at all.But more importantly, the notes on the fretboard are visualized on a separate virtual piano keyboard which serves to explain how the guitar worksto those who already understand the piano.

I have the ambition to make it the most useful virtual piano online simulator in the world so I need to know what exactly my users expect when they play it.Please feel free to write any comments and remarks by using the email address displayed on theApronus.com homepage.

I'm looking for a free (or perhaps inexpensive) virtual piano that's good for a solo performance that involves a lot of soft playing, or where there's a lot of subtlety. Put another way, it needs to have appropriate variation within a single note for nearly every velocity value you can give it. So suffice it to say, the stock piano that comes with my DAW doesn't cut it here. The more realistic the better.

I was testing different display settings when your posts came in. The max I can do it 175%, which shows some distortions, though not as bad as yours. I looked in the theme editor quickly and did not see any images to tweak that might help. Maybe there is a third-party virtual keyboard plug-in that can be resized?

Before Cakewalk added their virtual keyboards, it was a solution I used to post on the old forum. There are a couple of other virtual keyboards that work the same way. Don't have a 2/4K Monitor to test.

"Virtual Piano" can be use as a virtual piano for all you MIDI devices, such as your Sound Card or another MIDI tone generator.Almost every MIDI parameter can be change via the user interface.Virtual Piano is optimized for use with Yamaha Synthesizers, but should have no problem with other ones. This project is a good start for people who want to learn more about MIDI programming under Windows.

In addition to being lifelike, the application allows you to record, and customize your keyboard, playback, music score, play halftone, and more. There are also numerous music scores that you can use to improve your piano skills.

For starters, there is a full-sized six-octave keyboard that not only allows you to pump out your creative piano pieces, but also lets you play more than 100 musical virtual instruments, including drums, guitar, and bass.

The virtual piano can automatically play the major and minor triads for every single note you play on the piano keyboard. You can choose this mode by selecting the MAJOR and MINOR buttons.

There are many scales, the most used in occidental music are: Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melodic Minor, Major Pentatonic, Minor Pentatonic and Whole-Tone. The virtual piano can help you learn the musical scales, it can automatically play the scales for every note you play on the keyboard.

You can activate this mode by pressing the ON/OFF button, and then choose scales with the Scale Type button. By playing the first three octaves of the keyboard you will get ascending scales, by playing the higher octaves instead you will get descending scales. You can also adjust the running speed of the scales by changing the metronome bpm.

* You will notice that the Melodic Minor scale when it is descending is the same as the Natural Minor.

Useful for beginners to know the names of the notes, their position on the piano keyboard, and to memorize the musical scales. To activate these options, press the NOTES and PC KEYS buttons.

It's a tool used by all musicians for study and exercises. You can turn the metronome on or off by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE button in the virtual piano toolbar. Set the tempo (bpm = beats per minute) with the + and - buttons.

However, Virtual Midi Piano Keyboard does not stop there, as it is a complete generator and receiver of MIDI events, allowing the virtual piano keyboard to be used for showing notes played on another instrument (like a synthesizer) and play MIDI files.

I'm a classically trained pianist who, on occasion, plays keyboard on stage. Though I am told that the latency in a given system is negligible by the tech, I often think I can feel the difference between the immediacy of a piano with that of a keyboard running through a program like Mainstage. Please can you shed some light on how many milliseconds of latency is acceptable and how much is just people like me thinking we can feel a difference when we can't.

SOS contributor Dave Stewart replies: If you're used to playing Hammond organ, electric piano or acoustic piano, the difference between their near-instant physical response and that of a virtual instrument can feel quite dramatic. In order to buy the time to process incoming MIDI data, computers use an 'In/Out Buffer' to temporarily store data, and this can introduce considerable timing delays. At a sample rate of 44.1kHz, setting the I/O buffer to 512 samples gives a delay of around 12 milliseconds (= 0.012 seconds), which though it sounds tiny on paper, many people can feel. I find that a setting of 256 samples (6ms) is acceptable for most situations, but with instruments that use thousands of samples (sampled pianos being the worst offenders), a setting of 256 samples will sometimes create pops and clicks.

Everything looks like it works fine. When I push the keys on my usb keyboard the keys from the keyboard section on Kontakt get highlighted. However the sound produced is not from the Grandeur is from my keyboard or maybe from the midi driver of windows. When I click with the mouse the keys from the keyboard section on Kontakt, the sound produced is from the Grandeur. All my settings are in Midi Ch1 [A].

Also, in FL Studio happens the same thing I can hear the Grandeur only when I click with the mouse and FL Studio detects it (see the SS). When I press the keys with my digital keyboard I hear just the regular piano.

Recursive Arts A-23 Virtual Piano provides two separate Key Mappings for your computer keyboard, so you can choose the easiest and most convenient layout for you to play our digital piano. In order to switch between both options use the dedicated MAPPING knob. This knob will automatically activate the key assistant overlay, although you can also manually hide or re-enable this overlay by pressing the KEYS button.

The MAX (maximum) mapping provides access to the full 5 octaves of the piano by using the 'Shift' modifier key to play any black piano key. This mode is great when playing songs in C major or A minor keys with none or very little flats or sharps. It is also compatible with most virtual piano sheet music you will find online.

The REAL (realistic) mapping emulates a real piano keyboard layout, offering faster and direct access to black keys without having to hold the Shift modifier key. The action range is thus limited to three octaves, although this is more than enough to play most of your favourite melodies, including all those included in our virtual piano when using the Song Mode and its auto accompaniment system. This is the recommended setting when a piece includes many flats or sharps.
