For a long time now I have had issues with ArcGIS Online not loading correctly on Google Chrome (always kept up to date) on various computers from different locations. I login and then just get greeted with this loading animation.

Normally the text "loading" is below the graphic and if that text doesn't show up the web page just sits there and spins. It usually takes a few refreshes in order to get ArcGIS Online to load. I'm surprised I haven't found anyone else online experiencing this issue but can replicate it on several computers at different places.

I finally found the culprit, it was an addon called "Windows Remix ClickOnce Helper" that I had used to access certain applications for work using Chrome. Once removed everything went back to normal with ArcGIS Online. I would recommend if others are experiencing a similar issue, try things out in a fresh Chrome without any addons.

My issue was attributed to a Chrome addon (see below). I would recommend either removing addons one by one until ArcGIS.com works or create a new Chrome profile and go from there. I realized that didn't post didn't get marked as the solution for my original question.

I have had a similar issue, particularly with trying to load an ArcGIS Experience Builder Application on Google Chrome (also kept up to date). The layer list loads correctly, however the map remains blank.

Have you found a solution for this problem? None of my hosted feature layers load on the maps in google chrome - they are all unavailable.. Chrome is the newest version, all hosted layers are https, I deleted my cache and cookies from the sites to no avail. I sadly have to use AGOL from Microsoft Edge. I am also getting weird behaviour with the layers in Firefox (They do not respond, do not load, after refreshing the map 10 times it finally works).

I am not experiencing any issues with my hosted feature layers loading in Google Chrome anymore. How long has your problem been occurring? Is it with specific applications? Or do the hosted feature layers not load at the visualization tab of AGOL? Would you be able to share one of the layers/applications?

My problem started occurring summer 2020 and I finally discovered the issue. My hosted feature layers are unresponsive and are unable to load when I am connected to my works network through VPN! There is an extra proxy/ firewall when through VPN and the hosted layers try to load a second time, causing them to be unresponsive. Thankfully if I disconnect from VPN, everything works fine.

When testing from Firefox it works fine. Firefox also seems to handle it differently, when printing a document from Word Online in Firefox, the document gets converted to a pdf file and then you print the pdf. In Edge and Chrome if you click the print button in Word Online, the print windows from Windows instantly opens, and then it doesnt work, while being said that in every other program in Edge/Chrome printing works fine.

That seems like it indeed, in Firefox this is handled that way, but in chrome and Edge it doesnt do that, it says that its creating the PDF but you dont get the option to open the PDF file like in Firefox.

Hi again,

After a few attempts to trial my study again on Windows Chrome and Firefox, the study eventually worked for me. So today I tried running my study online on Prolific Academic. Out of 40 participants who attempted the study, more than 30 messaged me to tell that the study crashed halfway through completion, some participants tried a couple of times with same result, and in some cases, the study crashed after participants completed 95% of it. In none of these cases any data is saved as participants need to complete the study fully for the data to be saved, i.e., until they receive the completion code. (Not to mention this is very frustrating and irritating for participants as they spend a lot of time to no avail).

Some participants provided some print screens with the issue so you can investigate:

I ran into the same situation today and find this post. Did anybody figure out how to solve this?

When I run the experiment on piloting mode it works perfectly, but when I switch it to running then this situation shows up.

Our NCTA-certified testing facility is located on FSU's Tallahassee campus and serves students in online and face-to-face classes. The facility is open to both FSU and non-FSU testers. Exams are administered in a secure, proctored environment.

Students who live at a distance from our main campus can select an approved testing facility to proctor their test. We have agreements with over 700 testing centers throughout the world. These facilities are not affiliated with FSU, charge for services, and often require pre-payment.

Instructors may direct students in online classes to take proctored exams with an online service provider. Students take their exam on their own computer while a trained proctor monitors their exam via a webcam. Exam sessions are recorded for review by the instructor.

Our optical-mark (Scantron) form scanning services convert paper-based, multiple-choice exams and surveys into reliable, usable data. FSU instructors can order forms, see scores, and view and download test data via our online system.

Dino Game is an endless runner game originally built into Google Chrome. The game was added as an easter egg to Google Chrome in 2014 to entertain users when there is no internet available. The game - nicknamed Chrome Dino - featuring a t-rex is played by over 270 million players every month. You can play the Dinosaur Game on Poki in fullscreen, this time also when you are online.

Dino Game is also referred to as Dinosaur Game, T-Rex Game, Dino Dun, Chrome Dino, No Internet Game, or Google Dinosaur Game. You can play the online game for free on a PC, mobile phone, or tablet.

I have deployed on GCP and used Codesandbox, but am interested in working locally on Chrome OS, particularly when I do not have internet access. I have a Macbook Pro (older 15" that isn't easy to travel with) that is my main machine, but I also have a Samsung Chromebook Plus that I have on me frequently.

Just to chime in, got it set up and working today on pixelbook. I guess it's easy now it ships with a linux VM, so you just run copy the linux distribution over to that and it boots up as expected and seems to be working just fine!

The desktop version would grind the computer to a halt when opening the app for the first time or starting up a graph, but once it settled seems workable. The only issue was that I was struggling to connect to the server via chrome which i thought might lead to a better experience using it (rather than through a linux window). Not an issue if i was just playing around, but if i wanted to start making requests from code i was going to run into issues if i can't connect to the db.

In the end i decided to try and get neo4j running without the desktop version, but honed in on the issues connecting across to the VM because of (as far as i can tell) how crostini exposes ports (??). It seems like a common issue in the chromeos community so i gave up after a couple hours of wrestling. The best i could get to was access to the portal, but the auth server (bolt?) seemed to just hang.

Finally, decided to explore just using heroku to run a remote server to handle things which I'd say gave me the best long-term workflow, but something like this would obviously involve costs and admin that i'd rather not deal with if i'm just playing around.

I've only just started exploring how i'd use neo4j and have concluded i'd be using it for bursts of manual exploration and building so will probably work with it through the sandbox and store versions of the graphs to re-initialise in each session. Once I'm wanting to work with something linked to an app, I guess I'll have to go the hosted route sooner than I'd otherwise like.

Hope that makes some sense. I'm rather wedded to my dev flow on my chromebook nowadays and am constantly amazed by the pain i'm willing to go through to keep working on it! I think i need a better understanding of how to bridge across from chromos to the linux vm. it's probably just my lack of network skills that is preventing it working, but i guess connecting to anything remotely comes with a whole set of challenges and it does seem like the chromeos at large is frustrated by these sort of issues.

On writing this I decided to test run the desktop client after being more familiar with neo4j in general, and it really does work great after the initial set up and only seems to suck up resources when starting up a new graph. With hindsight, the only issue is working out how to open the server for remote connections which is probably a more standard issue than I'm making it.

You should write a blog post about how you get this working. I have been working primarily with a Macbook Pro, but have been interested in getting dev working on a Chromebook. I have a Samsung Chromebook Plus (only 4 GB) which might just choke up trying to get neo4j running.
