I recently acquired a Nest outdoor wired camera with my house. I bought my house and it had a camera already installed. I purchased through a third party who told me that the original owner had died, so i have no way to access the old account to disconnect the camera from it.

I already chatted with customer service and did all the hoops that they asked me to do, and was told to leave the camera unplugged from power for 48 hours to clear the stored video and that i would be able to set it up after that. I have done that and it still shows its attached to the previous account. Am I just out of luck or is there any way to get this camera changed over to me?

You're the second customer in this forum who has recently been told by someone in Google Support to disconnect their device for 2 days in order to change the owner ( -and-Doorbells/Cameras/m-p/200881). That doesn't seem right. I think you MUST get the cameras removed from the previous account or you are out of luck. That's what all the posts I've seen here seem to indicate, and here's what Google Nest Help says: =en

We haven't heard any updates from you. Please let us know if you still need help as we will be locking this in 24 hours if we won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

1You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You can't download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.

Note: You can only download video clips from detected events in the video history. You cannot download video clips from footage with no activity. The maximum clip length setting for your camera or doorbell will affect how long video clips can be.

Note: If you want to share the clip from the app, you need to share it when you make the clip. Otherwise if you want to share the clip at a later time, you'll need to use a computer to share it from your account at home.nest.com.

Note: You won't be able to recover clips after they've been deleted. Make sure that any clips you want to keep have been saved to your computer before you delete them from the Nest web app.

I found out that the Nest Floodlight requires a new app Google Home, which is fine. I installed it and get everything configured with my other cameras. The only issue is the 24/7 live feed for the Nest Doorbell (Gen 1) only show in the Nest app, and not Google Home.

And in this May 2023 post, they say: "In July, Public Preview users of the Home app will be able to begin transferring some of our original Nest cameras to the new camera experience in the Home app, starting with first generation Nest Cam Indoor and followed by Nest Cam Outdoor."

Your statement is not entirely accurate. When we view our 1st gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app and select "Full history", we can see EVENT video history, but we CANNOT see 24/7 video footage.

also to clarify, when I go through the fingernail in nest , I can scroll through the history of events and see the time moving however, it just does not play the video .? Again this is on the Nest app and the Google Home app for those two older cameras

Check your spam or junk folder. If your email service is set to mark all messages coming from unknown email addresses as junk, you may need to add our notifications@nest.com email address to your contacts or address book. Refer to your email service's documentation for specific information on how it filters emails and how to add a new contact.

If you still have trouble getting email notifications from Nest, try another email address from a different email service. To change your email address, sign in to your account on the Nest app, and follow these steps:

Yes, I migrated my account from Nest before I realized the impact of that decision. I've seen a lot of posts around Google locking down their API with plans to possibly open it up at some time in the future. Also about using ActionTiles and Kiosk Browser but really wanted to try to get it working with an Image Tile if possible.

First off this was found with a strip of the HTML source off the nest cam video feed. It's experimental but seems stable so far. I'm happy with it now and all the streams are password protected. If anyone else wants to try it out here are the steps. If you password protect your streams you will need to launch the Nest.com shared URL and enter your password on each stream for each device so it will cache the credentials on the device before you will be able to see them on the dashboard for that device.

I'm assuming this URL will be good for however long you keep the camera shared for but haven't tested it for any length of time. Be sure to bookmark your camera feeds from the Nest website so you can put in your password again if needed. If something breaks I'll come back and post an update on what I found.

I'm digging around in the webpage source code at the moment and I managed to get a still image using

You can turn your Google Nest camera or doorbell on or off anytime so that you're always in control of when it streams and records video. There are a few ways to switch your Nest camera on or off with the app:

In addition, your camera will stay powered and connected to Wi-Fi when it's switched off. That way, you can turn it back on and control it remotely in the app. Your camera can also switch on automatically with its schedule, when you leave home, or in the case of an emergency.

However, if you unplug a battery-powered camera, it will continue to work for as long as its battery is charged. So if you want your battery-powered camera to power off completely, you'll have to let the battery run out.

My issue is even though i have the Home routine on, when i am home. The cameras are still sending notifications. I would only like notifications for when i am Away from home or have the Away setting set.

Hey everyone! I just recently purchased two of the newer Google Nest Indoor Cameras that only work with the Google Home app. I also have four other Nest outdoor cameras that are connected to the Nest app. I'd like to move them all over into Google Home app so that I can use all of the functionality within Google Home and not have to use two apps for my cameras.

However, when attempting to add the outdoor nest cameras to the Google Home app, I scan the QR code, and the app crashes. If I type in the camera 6-digit code, it begins to add the camera to the Google Home app, but then I get the "Something went wrong" error.

All 3 cameras connect at 5GHz. The Orbi app on my iPhone shows full bars on the Wifi icon. Interested enough the indoor camera connected to the router which rarely drops reports the link rate typically in the 54-80 Mbps range while the outdoor cameras connected to the satellites.

My Nest was frequently going offline. I changed my settings on my Orbi to match Kickworms settings and I have not had a drop in over a week. Seems resolved now. Here are the settings from Kickworms post:

I have indoor and outdoor cameras from Netatmo and I see the same behaviour. Every 2-3 days camera will disconnect but reconnects in around 20 minutes by itself, is this the case for you as well?. I suspect that this is just radio interference issue.

"Distance between router and satellites: 20 ft to rear satellite; 25 ft to front satelite. Router in approximate middle of house on first floor; each satellite on second floor" I would move the satellites a bit farther appart from the router if possible. Maybe too close. 30feet starting is recommended...

I wanted to give an update on this issue. I only disabled MU-MIMO and Daisy Chaining on 9/18 and rebooted the google network box and the orbi system. What I noticed is that the two outdoor cameras stayed connected to the router all day and never switched to the nearest satellite which are a lot closer to each of the cameras. The 5ghz wi-fi signal on the Orbi app indicated only a small dot and the link rate was about 100 MHz for the front camera and about 2 bars for the rear camera.

The next day (19th) the front camera went completely offline at 4:05 am and kept trying to restart. I unplugged both cameras, let them sit for 5 minutes, and then plugged them in one at a time. Both cameras connected immediately to the closest satelite (1 front, 1 rear) and their wi-fi signal on the Orbi app showed full strength. It went two more days without incident, but on the 21st I noticed the back yard camera switched back to the ROUTER and had the lowest wi-fi signal. I did not see any drops in the video log, but I did power cycle the camera and it connected to the rear satellite and has not had any issues.

Unlike the mobile devices (iphones, ipad, macbook) which pick up the closet router or satellite as they move around in the house, the camera's don't move but stay stuck somehow to the router. Why doesn't rear satellite detect a stronger signal from the rear camera and take over the connection? Is there a setting in one of the switches to do this?

I would contact the camera Mfrs and point them to this thread and let them know what you have been experiencing and what you have been doing to keep the cameras online. This seems to be a camera handling of the wifi signal strength and even though they are closer to the satellite signal which is better, the cameras are still connecting to the router signal which is lower. This is a camera handling of signals issue. Possible the cameras for some reason, don't like the satellite signal. Eventhough the same signal, just strength differs. ff782bc1db
