The command sc query type= service (note, it's very particular with formatting, the space before "service" is necessary) will output a list of Windows services installed, complete with their qualified name to be used with sc delete command.

HOWEVER, the query command did not work the first time, because the tomcat service was not running. It seems to only list services that are running. I had to start the service and run the query command again.

If the original Service .InstallLog and .InstallState files are still in the folder, you can try reinstalling the executable to replace the files, then use InstallUtil /u, then uninstall the program. It's a bit convoluted, but worked in a particular instance for me.

Lots of great answers and this really helped me, but there was one thing that was missing. There's a mention of finding the service through cmd with sc query type= service but the problem is that the service I was looking for wasn't running and this command only shows running services (which may be a new feature that didn't exist at the time of the OP answer).

We discovered that even if you run sc_delete, there can be an entry remaining in the registry for your service, so that reinstalling the service results in a corrupted set of registry entries (they don't match). What we did was to regedit and remove this leftover entry by hand.

If you're developing a Windows service with .NET Framework, you can quickly install your service app by using the InstallUtil.exe command-line utility or PowerShell. Developers who want to release a Windows service that users can install and uninstall can use the free WiX Toolset or commercial tools like Advanced Installer, InstallShield, and others. For more information, see Create an installer package (Windows desktop).

If you want to uninstall a service from your computer, don't follow the steps in this article. Instead, find out which program or software package installed the service, and then choose Apps in Settings to uninstall that program. Many services are integral parts of Windows; if you remove them, you might cause system instability.

Unnecessary services can slow down your computer by using up processing cycles and memory better used elsewhere. You can significantly improve system performance and startup times by removing them from your computer.

Or better yet, use the Autoruns utility. It is perhaps the only user-friendly way of removing services from Windows and works like a charm. As a bonus, Autoruns lets you clean the Startup list as well, removing any bloatware that might be slowing down boot times.

I installed it because it was recommended by my school as free but turns out it's not free anymore. Now I get terrible pop-ups. I want to get rid of it, but uninstallation fails. Sophos doesn't even show up among the apps running in the background, even though there are a dozen processes showing up in Task Manager and I can't even kill them from there. Restarting didn't change anything.

I already looked here through this article ( -us/articles/115005679923-Unable-to-install-uninstall-Sophos-Home-Windows). I did everything under "First time installation fails - Ensure OS files are not corrupted" except the last step because when I try to reinstall, it says there's an error due to the previous installation.

I want to have the removal of the NI Update Service as part of a larger application suite installer and so I need to either uninstall the NI Update Service package, or install the provided "NI Update Service Block" package via the command line. The problem is both the uninstall, and the install methods don't work, because of various dependencies.

I have noticed sometimes that NIPM's uninstall will remove some "orphaned" package on top of the dependencies. Orphaned packages being packages that the uninstalled package depended on, but no other package depends on as well.

From what I can gather, this just occurs due to Windows locking the process or not having sufficient privileges to stop the process in order for Dropbox to be uninstalled. In Dropbox's defence, this is something very difficult for any application to do due to the way Microsoft's services and processes work.

The good news is that it isn't too hard to fix. By using a third party unlocking tool or somehow manipulating the command line to stop the service and then remove it, you can easily remove the DBXsvc.

Use the following commands to uninstall all Anthos Service Mesh components. Thesecommands also delete the istio-system namespace and all custom resourcedefinitions (CRDs), including any CRDs that you applied.

If there are no other control planes, you can delete the istio-systemnamespace to get rid of all Anthos Service Mesh resources. Otherwise, delete theservices corresponding to the Anthos Service Mesh revisions. This avoids deletingshared resources, such as CRDs.

If you have enabled managed Anthos Service Mesh fleet-default configuration andwant to disable it for future clusters, disable it. You can skip this stepif you're only uninstalling from a single cluster.

Upon completion of these steps, all Anthos Service Mesh components, including proxies,in-cluster certificate authorities, and RBAC roles and bindings, aresystematically removed from the cluster. During the installation process, aGoogle-owned service account is granted the necessary permissions to establishthe service mesh resources within the cluster. These uninstall instructionsdon't revoke these permissions, allowing for a seamless re-activation ofAnthos Service Mesh in the future.

The issue I am facing:

I'd like to completely uninstall cloudflared from my Raspberry Pi. (I know how to remove the config from Pi-hole.) If there are any instructions on how to do this I'd appreciate it. The only thing I've found (here) seems like a brute force delete of files / dirs and not a clean uninstall.

I'm having issues with uninstalling the VMware Converter Standalone agent keeps generating the following error: Could Not Stop Service When I check services, i'm unable to locate the VMWare Converter Standalone Agent service which i'm assuming requires the service to run before uninstallation. I have several times of creating the service but to no avail I keep getting the same error. I followed the following thread in order to create the service: communities.vmware.com/thread/605585 K 17dc91bb1f
