Was able to successfully install Edge browser extension via the modify settings of Uipath\ install extension on machine. However when I try to run a call out to edge browser it says I need to install the extension on the browser before continuing. I am running uipath 2020.4 and cannot install this extension. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Change the directory to the UiPath installation folder (cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ UiPath \ Studio \ UiPath ). Use the SetupExtensions.exe / Edge command to install the extension. A confirmation pop-up is displayed in Edge . Start (or restart) the Edge browser , so the installation can complete.

@gulshiyaa @Massimo_Gatta @Helbling_Steve_SI_BP, yes it is not, but there is a way you can still get it but i would rather you go to and download version 2.4.0 then you can install the edge extension.

If the UiPath Extension for Edge is installed using Group Policy, then the DeveloperToolsAvailability must be set to 1 to enable the full functionality of the extension.

This value is automatically set correctly when the extension is installed but it will be overwritten if your system administrator has set another value for this policy.

For a couple of months now we have noticed on many machines that the Microsoft Edge browser extension stopped working. To fix it, we had to reinstall on the machine again the extension and it worked correctly again, running on those machines correctly. However, after a while the extension would again become corrupted and we would have to repair it again. We checked with our internal systems and cybersecurity teams to make sure that nothing was being touched by them and they confirmed that it was not. Another investigation we did is whether the extension could be corrupted when we run processes that have dependencies on old packages that conflict with the extension. However, by testing on development machines we did not observe any old packages corrupting the extension. We saw that the damage to the extension that occurs is that in the path C:\UsersRobot03\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Extensions the folder with the extension ID is sometimes completely deleted and sometimes all the folders inside it are deleted.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have already analyzed all the points in the document you have attached and none of them seems to be wrong. The problem is that when I repair and reinstall it, the extension works correctly for a while. However, after several executions the extension folder is deleted by the robot user by msedge.exe. We have been able to observe this in the event viewer of the machine by auditing the folder where the extension is stored.

Since you see that the extension issue is happening because the extension ID is deleted from the path C:\Users\Robot03\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Extensions, it might be some configuration in your environment that leads to that. For example, with roaming profiles, the %localappdata% folder (C:\Users\\AppData\Local) is not persistent and the data is lost after sign-out.

Thank you very much for your reply. I finally managed to locate the problem. It turns out that a series of daily updates were being made to the edge version and when making these updates some installed versions collided with the extension and removed it.

This is the easiest way for me. Since Microsoft Edge is Chromium-based, it supports the same extension used by your Google Chrome browser.

So the UiPath Web Automation Chrome extension should work:

I have a few users connected through orchestrator just as UiPath assistant users. We have many users that have edge/chrome extensions but for some reason, this user is unable to get the edge extension installed. We have the java/chrome done and it pops up. What happens is they install edge, it is successful, but the extension never shows up in edge://extensions.

Some IT departments would enforce a Group Policy to restrict any Google Chrome extension from being installed by users. However, since the UiPath Extension needs to be installed and enabled for any automation to be developed for business processes that uses Google Chrome, whitelisting of the UiPath Extension needs to be done.

We are migrating our robots from Internet Explorer to MS Edge, but after installing the MS Edge Uipath Extension (from Microsoft Edge Addons), we noticed a red flag on Uipath icon and the message : The native part of the extension is not configured correctly.

Re-install the extension from UiPath Studio.

If you do have UiPath Studio v21.10, then it is mandatory to install the Edge extension using one of the methods described here:

Extension for Microsoft Edge (uipath.com)

This is needed to setup the native part of the extension - for which you are getting the error now.

tabs - Gives the extension access to privileged fields of the Tab objects used by several APIs including chrome.tabs and chrome.windows. In many circumstances the extension will not need to declare the "tabs" permission to make use of these APIs.

I am getting an error with UiPath studio and Chrome Extension not working: Open Browser: Cannot communicate with the browser, please check the UiPath extension I have already reinstalled the extension multiple times, reinstalled UiPath Studio and followed the documentation located at these links:
