You simply can't create clips from sub-only VoDs and get 500 error since all clips are "public", which make sense - in a way.

However sub-only VoDs are pretty common these days, you guys should have the stat for that.

It shouldnt be too hard to mark clips as "sub-only" too, depending on their originating source

I cannot make a clip of my own channel when the vod is SUB only. Surely that needs to be resolved... Anyone who is a SUB should be able to create a clip from a VOD thats limited to SUBs. This should be a high priority issue

Right now, even if a broadcast isn't sub-only, if the resulting VOD is only available to subs, no one (not even subs) can make clips from it, according to what Twitch told me. If the creator hasn't explicitly disabled clipping, subs should be able to create clips from sub-only VODs.

Nobody wants to watch random ads that block out the stream. Picture-in-picture doesn't work if we only see but not hear the stream during ads. Banners would solve the problem - you get to give us more ads but the stream doesn't get interrupted. I repeat: nobody needs random ads that block the stream. it's not only disruptive for the viewers, but also for the streamer. bad idea, really.

Stream Display Ads do not replace any other type of ads, they're only in addition to any of your other ads that you already have, therefore they absolutely are *not* less disruptive, they are, automatically, only more disruptive since they only add onto the volume of disruption that happens. Extremely misleading, very disappointed in how you handled this

One of the things that's really frustrating for me as a streamer is knowing that some of my viewers are going to miss out on some epic or funny moment in my streams as an Ad kicks in and takes over the stream - not only that but the audio levels are obnoxiously soo much louder than most streams too.

Stop with the instrusive ads, the only thing that's going to kill your platform is these ads, you have to realize that. It's what made others hop platforms with glee and will do it again, you are killing it and complacency will bury it. Can't wait to leave it if you don't learn.

I'm a viewer who greatly enjoys SaltyBet, which requires the use of its own site and embedded Twitch stream to function properly. SaltyBet may not be the largest stream on Twitch, but it does regularly pull 500 - 700 viewers. The ads that periodically pop up encouraging users to watch on Twitch itself are not only tedious and force me to miss the action, or sometimes even the betting phase, but also fall on deaf ears, as for me to enjoy SaltyBet to its fullest, I have to watch on a site that isn't Twitch. If the Twitch ads were less invasive, such as a banner or even transparent, my viewing experience would be less hindered. However, as it stands, the encouragement to watch on Twitch is just a waste of time and a bother.

Twitch sometime show when a drops is active and to claim it. But I usually use that link on browser with my twitch account to check it. Refresh it (that link not your twitch stream) after a couple minute to check your progress.

Twitch has introduced a functionality that, when you've opened a stream page and navigate to a different part of the site, allows the video to keep playing in the bottom left corner without any interruption. This even works when pressing the back button in the browser and only breaks when closing the tab or manually typing in the URL you want to go to (e.g. ).

Twitch is a SPA, or Single Page Application. This means that when you go to a new "page" on the Twitch website you aren't actually going to a new webpage, you are loading a new view. Each of these views are basically sections of content that seem like pages but don't reload the entire page. This is commonly used with cross platform mobile apps.

I am able to watch videos on every commonplace video site such as youtube, vimeo, and independent sites. Except for twitch.tv in which the player does not load. I have the most recent addition of flash and twitch.tv works perfectly on other browsers such as chrome or even IE.

The best stream settings for Twitch depend on available upload bandwidth, the power of your encoder, and the type of content you want to broadcast. Higher bandwidth, a powerful processor, and being able to dedicate your processor to encoding only all offer higher-quality settings.

For anyone reading these comments though, DeeMurk is completely right about that you should NOT only get excited and pay attention when a viewer pops into your stream. Like he says, the primary focus of your stream should most definitely be having fun and providing the best possible stream you can regardless of viewer count. Just be aware that viewers will not magically just find you. You need to be proactive and let people know how much you appreciate them joining your stream and spending their time with you.

But let's say you do want to provide monetary support to a creator! Then you are looking for "Subscribe." Subscriptions start at $4.99 on Twitch and come with bonuses such as ad-free viewing, subscriber-only badges, and special emoji-like icons called emotes which can be used in the live chat. You can also support a creator and spread the benefits to other users by gifting paid subscriptions.

Is mobile data working for all apps other than twitch? Could it be due to an app setting that is blocking it when on mobile data? Check the settings within the twitch app as well as mobile data settings on the system to make sure everything is in order.

To capture your gameplay on a computer (or the Nintendo Switch), you need desktop software. We used OBS Studio as an example, but there are others you may like better. AMD and NVIDIA also provide native tools, but they work in Microsoft Windows only.

On August 5, 2014, the original Justin.tv site suddenly ceased operations, citing a need to focus resources entirely on Twitch.[44][45][46] On August 6, 2014, Twitch introduced an updated archive system, with multi-platform access to highlights from past broadcasts by a channel, higher quality video, increased server backups, and a new Video Manager interface for managing past broadcasts and compiling "highlights" from broadcasts that can also be exported to YouTube. Due to technological limitations and resource requirements, the new system contained several regressions; the option to archive complete broadcasts on an indefinite basis ("save forever") was removed, meaning that they can only be retained for a maximum of 14 days, or 60 for partners and Turbo subscribers. While compiled highlights can be archived indefinitely, they were limited to two hours in length.[47][48] In addition, Twitch introduced a copyright fingerprinting system that would mute audio in archived clips if it detected a copyrighted song in the stream.

In August 2023, Twitch began to trial a "Discovery Feed" feature in its mobile apps, populated by "featured" clips from followed users.[117] In October 2023, Twitch began to implement stories.[118] At TwitchCon 2023, Twitch announced upcoming updates to its Guest Star feature (concurrently renamed "Stream Together") to allow for merged chat rooms, and that streamers under an affiliation or partnership agreement with the service (unless contractually required) would be allowed to simulcast their streams on competing platforms such as YouTube, as opposed to only mobile-centric video platforms.[119]

As of August 2022,[update] there have been eight streamers to have reached over 100,000 concurrent subscribers. These streamers are Ninja, Shroud, Ranboo, Ludwig, Casimiro, Ironmouse, Gaules and Ibai.[206] In April 2021, Business Insider reported that "over the past 31 days, Ahgren has streamed non-stop in an attempt to break the record of 269,154 subscribers held by gaming personality Tyler 'Ninja' Blevins. By the end of the month-long stream, Ahgren had over 282,000 subscribers on his channel. [...] At one point during his sleep cycle, his channel had the most concurrent viewers of any on the platform".[207] In analysis of the October 2021 data leak, multiple news outlets reported that the three top-earning Twitch content creators are Critical Role ($9,626,712), xQc ($8,454,427), and Summit1g ($5,847,541).[86][89][90][91] Sisi Jiang, for Kotaku, reported that "excluding streams that are run by multiple people (such as Critical Role), there are no women in the top third of top-earning Twitch content creators"; in total, there are only three women in the top 100 and only one is a woman of color. Jiang highlighted that these streamers are "Valorant streamer Pokimane at 39th place, cosplayer Amouranth at 48th, and music streamer Sintica at 71st" and commented that "in spite of the complaints about the 'hot tub meta,' 'titty streamers,' and how some male streamers perceive that female streamers are stealing views from men, the numbers show that only a small percentage of women are among the ranks of Twitch's highest-earning content creators".[208]

Twitch allows anyone to watch a live broadcast and does not require viewers to log in.[218] Users also have the option to follow and subscribe (also known as subbing) to streamers. Following is a free option, similar to other platforms such as Instagram and Twitter, where the user will see their followed streamers on the front page of Twitch when signed in and can receive notifications of specific broadcasts.[219][220][221] Subscribing is a way for users to financially support streamers in exchange for exclusive benefits determined by the individual streamer.[219][220][222] Users who link their Twitch account to their Amazon Prime account gain access to Prime Gaming which includes one complimentary Twitch subscription per month that the user can assign to the streamer of their choice.[67][82][223] The aforementioned 2017 academic survey stated that 31.5% of users "spent money on Twitch"; of those users, 22.6% "donated to a streamer", 31.6% subscribed to a streamer and 45.8% "did both". The majority of these users stated the "main motivation is to support a streamer financially".[215] Twitch's Terms of Service does not allow people under 13 years of age to use its services. Additionally, people who are at least 13 years old but below the age of majority in their jurisdiction (18 in most jurisdictions), may only use the services under the supervision or permission of a parent or other legal guardian who agrees to abide to the Terms of Service.[224] ff782bc1db
