Hi, I have an old Galaxy S5 and flashed Stock ROM the only things that catch my eye is the default Touchwiz launcher, I've decided I want to use this launcher as my daily launcher also for my S8 and other new android devices.

I think the TouchWiz launcher cannot be installed on different versions of the phone, it must have Samsung ui/framework shells provider in order for it to use, so the only way is to find another alternative launcher.

EDIT:I've installed GO Launcher Ex on the phone and then the widget does have margins, so I guess this is a specific issue for Samsung's TouchWiz launcher? Can anyone confirm this? I am also interested in solutions to make the widget look (more or less) the same when using TouchWiz.

You have said that if you select Google Now launcher the problem does not happen. It sounds like Google Now is forcing the choice. If you do not use the Google Now, I would suggest uninstalling it and this should fix the problem for you.

You might be able to trick it into forcing a permanent selection if you download a third party launcher and choose that application for the default. Then uninstall the the launcher to make the phone choose which version of TouchWiz UI to use.

There are many options available such as Action Launcher, Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher, Aviate, etc. However, Google's new launcher is the best of all, as it is entirely free and will not mess with your Android device anyway.

Samsung favours its own interface called Touchwiz for Android - which to me and many others is very impractical. TouchWiz limits the user and the preferences they would prefer to have on their home screens. Users are also unable to customise or change the TouchWiz launcher applications into anything they please. This partially makes having Android 4.0 irrelevant because by incorporating the TouchWiz interface, it basically shares exactly same functionality traits as the TouchWiz Gingerbread ROMs.

The first launcher to talk about is the Apex launcher. The launcher is still in beta, but can be used without problems and even includes a huge amount of features which make the launcher superior to Google stock ICS launcher and these features are listed here.

The next and final launcher I will briefly talk about is Nova and this launcher simply emphasises on the users freedom to organise applications and widgets more appropriately. However, this is probably the only difference between this and the Apex launcher discussed previously.

But the stock launcher on Samsung Galaxy devices has a few noticeable hiccups, particularly when scrolling through the app drawer or home screen pages. This is obviously not a result of the phone lacking the ability to render these pages smoothly, so that narrows the problem down to the software side of things.

Seeking to smooth out these minor hiccups, developer Abraar Shaikh made some modifications to the TouchWiz launcher. Minor tweaks were applied to the transition animation scales, and a general de-bloating of the software was undertaken. The end result is a much smoother experience on the Galaxy S5's home screen, rendering it free of lag and incredibly fast.

These are the easy steps you have to take in order to switch from the default TouchWiz launcher provided by Samsung to any other launcher available. With just a few taps, you are on your way to completely own and customizing your gadget according to your terms.

The Galaxy Tab S2 uses the default TouchWiz user interface template, called a launcher, to help you interact with your tablet. However, plenty of other launchers are available to use in place of the TouchWiz launcher, with each launcher providing its own distinct look and feel. Many of these launchers are also optimized for tablet devices.

Launchers are available for Android smartphones as well as Android tablets, so when you search for launchers in the Google Play Store, you need to be specific about the type of launcher you want to find. Type launcher tablet using the keyboard; when the text launcher tablet appears in the Google Play field, tap the Search key on the right side of the keyboard (see Figure 2).

Tap Accept in the pop-up window to give Action Launcher 3 access to your tablet data, including your photo, multimedia, and other files. Once the Google Play Store finishes installing the new launcher on your Tab 2, open Action Launcher 3 by tapping the green Open button on the screen.

Return to the Home screen by pressing the Home button. In the Select Launcher window shown in Figure 9, tap TouchWiz Home if you want to return to the TouchWiz launcher. If you want to use the TouchWiz launcher only once, tap Just Once. If you want to use the launcher all the time, tap Always.

If you return to the TouchWiz launcher, you see the main Home screen as you left it before you opened Action Launcher 3, with one change: The Action Launcher 3 icon now appears on the Home screen (see Figure 10).

Within the Home settings list on the right side of the screen, tap the button to the left of the launcher you want to use as the default, as shown in Figure 13. Next, press the Home button to begin using the new launcher.

After you tap the trashcan icon, the Uninstall App window appears, informing you that the launcher will be uninstalled. Uninstall the launcher by tapping Uninstall in the window. The launcher disappears from the Home settings list.

Now that you know how to add a launcher, you can download, install, and experiment with multiple launchers until you find the right launcher(s) for you. Many launchers are free, so go ahead and shop in the Google Play Store and download the launcher(s) you want to try on your Galaxy Tab S2.

But Samsung is trying to improve that, without taking features away. At the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco this week, the company revealed it is working on a new TouchWiz launcher that utilizes Vulkan to become more efficient.

Some of the cool features installed will be the TouchWiz app launcher, icons, and sounds, and even Samsung's own Galaxy Tab widgets. Plus, installing these will not affect the speed and performance of your Nexus 7.

But when I checked Settings -> Home Screen, only 2 launchers were showing: TouchWiz Easy Home and TouchWiz Home. Google Now Launcher was present nowhere in the list, so I was unable to apply it as default launcher in my phone. My phone was not recognizing Google Now Launcher at all.

While the Standard one is your new launcher having all the features, the Easy mode is a toned-down version with bigger on-screen items, better navigation, and a dedicated contacts shortcut page. It is ideal for old people. To activate this mode, go to Settings > Display > Easy Mode. Then enable Easy mode.

This is the launcher that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S III (GT-i9300). It has been ported by 13 year old* rani9990 over on popular Android development and hacking forums XDA Developers. According to the developer, it works on all Android smartphones running Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich.

Yesterday we wrote about lag and UI fluidity problems on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and how Samsung needs to fix those problems on its flagship smartphones. It seems like the company had already been working to fix some of those issues. The company has now released an update to its TouchWiz Home launcher to fix the lag.

We believe that you will find the above methods helpful. However, if still in case your TouchWiz is not working, we advice you that you should install a new theme launcher in your device.
