You really shouldn't be using ML software on old laptops without a dedicated gpu. Doesn't make sense. I use both topaz and dxo, on 42mp files and processing time is 10 to 60s on a two year old, upper midrange card. I batch process all my photos before culling - easily in the thousands due to wildlife photography, and it's fine.

I've not used any topaz software prior to having gotten a 3090, but whenever I turn off "reduced machine load" in VEAI it upscales significantly faster, but will always crash after a few seconds/minutes, I check VRAM usage and it never goes beyond 12gb which is half of the 24gb available, any fix?

Should we worry about PPI levels when making gigapixels for canvas and other products?

and when I changed a PPI to 300, the suggested height is 6.00 inches, is that as big as I can go with that image?

if we could run TopazLabs Studio and plugins like AIGigi work as command line commands - these problems would go away ( many different ones.) most modern tools ( including Photoshop and other filter plugins) have a command line version with options. SO imaingin topazStudio.exe -i input.jpg -s (adjustment script> ( which would start TS, load the input file and run an already made adjustments script/macro). Where then in say in Window 10 but similar in Mac, you can use say a .bat script to run anything you want and as many times you want with a simple script - like for all the files in a folder, save them to another folder and run as many topazStudio.exe commands in between including commands to other programs like photoshop actions and other programs - this would make folks like us who do extensive batching and smart scripting able to do more and do it faster. Better to be developing this then making cheap batching tools in TS.

I also tried it for some videos with virtualdub frame extractions. With ffmpeg you can merge the extractions quickly back. With this technique you miss information from adjacent frames but the tools that I used to test that (that promise excellent results) were not that good. A single image upscale with AI gigapixel gave better results imho.

Only a few cameras are capable of creating a gigapixel image in a single sweep of a scene, such as the Pan-STARRS PS1 and the Gigapxl Camera.[1][2]

Sounds pretty cool. I will download the free trial and see how well it works on a master image. It could be useful for sqare looking stars and maybe offer some noise reduction qualities. I think however that the benefit to drizzle, particularly in pixinisght is that you are drizzling the images before image integration which allows you to stack snr detail and reject outliers in a statistic population of data. This allow you to register an upsampled image and integrate upsampled data into that model which will offer superior results. Its up in the air, but im definitely going to give topaz ai gigapixel a try.

AI Gigapixel definitely does a good job. Thanks for sharing the comparison with the Lightroom enlargement. I have done a comparison with image enlargement with Photoshop> -processing/topaz-ai-gigapixel-review/

I was just playing with it the other day, definitely a huge improvement. From my experience, I still seem to be getting better results doing a frame by frame in just regular old gigapixel, but I still need to explore the settings in Enhance more. 2351a5e196
