After weeks of having a WhatsApp Cloud API up and running, suddenly all my phone numbers can no longer send messages. Keep getting (#200) You do not have the necessary permissions required to send messages on behalf of this WhatsApp Business Account.

I have already checked the Meta Token Debugger, and my token has all necessary permissions (whatsapp_business_management and whatsapp_business_messaging (and business_management just in case)), and have added (and re-added) (system)users to my WhatsApp accounts w/ new tokens, but no luck.

Large community and religious WhatsApp groups are being targeted by scammers who infiltrate them to try and deceive their members into sending them money. Since January of this year, 268 people have reported falling victim to this scam.

Analysis of Action Fraud reports indicate that victims targeted by this scam are often part of large WhatsApp community, alumni and academic, work groups, and religious groups (such as church or prayer groups).

There may be desktop clients for Whatsapp that do support deleting messages and whether they allow deletion after a particular time is a something you should first check for in your clients documentation.

When asking for help with client applications you should be specific and tell us what client you are using. Only "desktop" clients are on topic at Super User so your question would have to be about the client and not the broader web service. "How do I use to achieve X?" would be on topic here. "Does this feature exist in Whatsapp?" implies the entire ecosystem and is both too broad and about the service rather than any specific application.

Over in the article Setting up your WhatsApp channel (standard agent interface) it says to contact your account manager about purchasing the add-on....but no mention in this article.

Reason for asking is that I have gone all the way through set-up (new agent workspace and social messaging enabled), selected my phone number (all approved by FB etc) but at the last step when I try to add it under channels in the Admin centre, I get an error message saying:

If like us, you can't find the Messaging and Social under Channels, there is another guide. I suggest that you edit this article to include this link and explanation that it is a separate app that needs to be installed.

Hi There

currently facing a challenge setting up the facebook account when doing the whatsapp integration with zendesk. was using the zendesk whatsapp setup wizard and got to this point.

note we have a created a facebook account and have a whatsapp business no.

Step 1 was completed we signed into facebook account via wizard to grant permission for the apps to talk to each other

Step 2 it asked to create a meta and whatsapp business account

after entering name, address n phone gave error would not let us proceedĀ

an error has occurred while processing your request, pls try again later. which we did but still shows same issue

Facing a problem with our display name. We have a WhatsApp business display name approved by Meta and in our business settings. But when we send messages - users only see the number in Whatsapp - not the display name. We can not use Whatsapp on the phone or desktop now connected to Zendesk. Any ideas how to make sure our business name shows?

In order to see the display name attached to the phone number on WhatsApp Business API, an Official Business Account is needed. If you connected your phone number via the self service process, you can request the Official Business Account directly via the WhatsApp Business Account you own and host. Here is the process you need to follow. Please, note that only WhatsApp decides regarding the Official Business Account approval, this is out of Zendesk control. Have a nice day

Once the phone number is connected with WhatsApp Business API, the phone call feature is not available anymore on WhatsApp (Meta restriction).Ā

However, you will still be able to receive standard/classic phone calls on the device (if ou have one) or Zendesk Talk (if you have this Zendesk product).Ā

I am trying to work out how this attempted scam on me could possibly work financially for the scammers as it just seems like the time and effort involved as well as the low potential for payoff isn't there. The best way I have to describe the actual scam is by outlining the sequence of events:

You engaged in the conversation - I'm sorry to say that that alone indicates you'd have a reasonable possibility of falling for a scam. [Edit: I've just re-read your question and you said she only contacted you initially a few days ago. If this had been weeks or months I could understand our confusion, but think about it - how many legitimate people who happen to be extremely wealthy would try to get a random chance contact into their wealth system after a few DAYS of talking?!]

It's probably worth keeping an eye on your credit report over the next few weeks / months. Also keep an eye out for "lawyers" contacting you to say "WE think you've been scammed, we can help you recover what you lost / you may be entitled to compensation etc etc etc" - needless to say this is just the same team of scammers social engineering you into falling for more.

What kind of payoff could be possible to make all this time investment worth it, especially for "Lina"? I mean, I could see that if she's farming out suckers to grunts in HK then it's a cheap operating cost, but surely her time as an intelligent, well-spoken, good-looking young female (assuming the pics are real) is worth more than this?

All I can say to this is - evidently not, or "she" wouldn't be doing it. Also the "if the pics are real" thing is a big if - there are generative AIs that can create perfectly realistic faces these days. Also if she's real she may be participating under duress - once you get into these kinds of operations you have to assume the criminality doesn't stop at the "give me a load of your money" level.

This is a form of romance scam. I have read stories about people paying tens of thousands of pounds to this kind of scam, without ever meeting the person. The median monthly income in Hong Kong is $18400 HKD or about 1800 GBP.

$475 million spread over 19500 victims means an average of about $24000 USD per victim, or 18000 GBP. At this rate you only need to find little more than one average victim per year to "break even" on the average Hong Kong salary.

This tells me this is likely a Bitcoin/cryptocurrency scam. I have experience of something very similar. You can learn more by searching for "bitcoin dating scam" or "cryptocurrency dating scam" on Google.

In my recent story, I found it so bizarre that this man was texting me all the time with questions, and yet, he lived about a mile away. This was not a long-distance relationship that required texting. For about a month I found his messages thrilling, but also unhealthy to have my body get so revved up by the addictive dings, with no bodily contact to soothe, ground, connect us.

I have a personal and a business WA account. I use WhatsApp Desktop app for personal use. When I click on api.whatsapp.com links, I mean to open the web app where I can send a message from my business account. The problem is that whenever I click on these links, it shows an alert to open the desktop app and when I cancel the dialog, it does not take me to WhatsApp web and I am stuck on the page.I have checked for defaults and protocols but WhatsApp doesn't appear there, nor are there any settings in the WhatsApp desktop app to remove such functionality.

In May 2023, WhatsApp allowed users to edit messages, aligning itself with competitors such as Telegram and Signal which already offered this feature. According to the company, messages could be edited within a 15-minute window after being sent. Edited messages were tagged as "edited" to inform recipients that the content had been modified.[161] WhatsApp has rolled out a feature called 'Voice Status Updates', which allows users to record voice notes and share them as their status on the app.[162]

In July 2023, video messages were added to WhatsApp. Similar to voice messages, this feature allows users to record and send short videos directly in a chat. This lets users share videos of themselves more quickly, and without adding anything to their device's gallery. Currently, video messages are limited to 60 seconds.[168][169]

In January 2021, the limited Android beta version allowed users to use WhatsApp Web without having to keep the mobile app connected to the Internet. In March 2021, this beta feature was extended to iOS users.[197] However, linked devices (using WhatsApp Web, WhatsApp Desktop or Facebook Portal) will become disconnected if people don't use their phone for over 14 days.[198] The multi-device beta can only show messages for the last 3 months on the web version, which was not the case without the beta because the web version was syncing with the phone.[199]Since April 2022, the multi-device beta is integrated by default in WhatsApp and users cannot check old messages on the web version anymore.[200][201]

WhatsApp uses a customized version of the open standard Extensible messaging and presence protocol (XMPP).[210] Upon installation, it creates a user account using the user's phone number as the username (Jabber ID: [phone number]@s.whatsapp.net).

In an investigation on the use of social media in politics, it was found that WhatsApp was being abused for the spread of fake news in the 2018 presidential elections in Brazil.[256] It was reported that US$3 million was spent in illegal concealed contributions related to this practice.[257] ff782bc1db
