Between late October and mid-December, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage plummeted more than a percentage point. However, since then rates have moved sideways as the market digests incoming economic data. Given the expectation of rate cuts this year from the Federal Reserve, as well as receding inflationary pressures, mortgage rates will likely continue to drift downward as the year unfolds. While lower mortgage rates are welcome news, potential homebuyers are still dealing with the dual challenges of low inventory and high home prices that continue to rise.

The amount of basic benefit paid ranges, depending on how disabled you are. VA makes a determination about the severity of your disability based on the evidence you submit as part of your claim, or that VA obtains from your military records. VA rates disability from 0% to 100% in 10% increments (e.g. 10%, 20%, 30% etc.). See the Combined Ratings section below for information about how VA calculates disability percentage for multiple disabilities.

Periodically, VA makes cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) to VA compensation and pension benefits to ensure that the purchasing power of VA benefits is not eroded by inflation. Under federal law, the cost-of-living adjustments to VA's compensation and pension rates are the same percentage as for Social Security benefits. You can learn more about COLA's on the Social Security Administration's COLA webpage.

If VA finds that a Veteran has multiple disabilities, VA uses the Combined Ratings Table below to calculate a combined disability rating. Disability ratings are not additive, meaning that if a Veteran has one disability rated 60% and a second disability 20%, the combined rating is not 80%. This is because subsequent disability ratings are applied to an already disabled Veteran, so the 20% disability is applied to a Veteran who is already 60% disabled. Below you will find the steps VA takes to combine ratings for more than one disability and examples using the Combined Ratings Table to illustrate how combined ratings are calculated.

General Schedule law enforcement officers (LEOs) at grades GS-3 through GS-10 are entitled to a higher locality rate - see -data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/2023/law-enforcement-officer. Other General Schedule employees covered by this table whose pay rate at their grade and step on this table is below the rate for the same grade and step on an applicable special rate table under 5 U.S.C. 5305 (or similar special rate under other legal authority) are entitled to the higher special rate. For example, in the case of special rate table 001M covering employees at grades GS-1 through GS-4 stationed in the United States, a table 001M special rate applies in place of any corresponding locality rate or other applicable special rate that is lower than the table 001M special rate.

Traveler reimbursement is based on the location of the work activities and not the accommodations, unless lodging is not available at the work activity, then the agency may authorize the rate where lodging is obtained.

Unless otherwise specified, the per diem locality is defined as "all locations within, or entirely surrounded by, the corporate limits of the key city, including independent entities located within those boundaries."

Per diem localities with county definitions shall include"all locations within, or entirely surrounded by, the corporate limits of the key city as well as the boundaries of the listed counties, including independent entities located within the boundaries of the key city and the listed counties (unless otherwise listed separately)."

When a military installation or Government - related facility(whether or not specifically named) is located partially within more than one city or county boundary, the applicable per diem rate for the entire installation or facility is the higher of the rates which apply to the cities and / or counties, even though part(s) of such activities may be located outside the defined per diem locality.

The maximum rates available for the financing of vehicles in equal monthly installments are found in the Texas Finance Code, Section 348.104. That section specifies add-on rates for four classes of vehicle. The add-on rate is the actual dollars per hundred per year of finance charge calculated on the amount financed. The age of the vehicle determines the add-on rate to use. This chart converts the add-on rates to equivalent annualized percentage rates for contracts with substantially equal monthly payments.

As an alternative to the add-on rates, Section 348.105 of the Texas Finance Code provides an alternate rate of 18%. The 18% effective rate may also be used as an alternative rate for contracts with repayment terms that are not monthly and not substantially equal in amount. 006ab0faaa
