This just happened out of the blue today. It's almost impossible to type when the keyboard is blocking the screen. I'd like to know what caused it and how to get things back to NORMAL. Please help. No updates were performed, nor was the phone restarted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WhatsApp but it didn't help.

I am running xubuntu and use i3wm. Then I want to have Korean keyboard layout. I have followed suggestions on this question. Basically what I did was install ibus-setup-hangul and then run ibus-setup. Under "Input Method" I add Korean. Then I logout and login.

I also have Whatsapp Web in Google Chrome that I turned into a webapp (from options: More Tools > Create Shortcuts > tick Open as window). However whenever I tried to type in Korean there, the input box glitched. I typed one full syllable, and it is gone as it switches to the next syllable. I think it might only be the display, so I tried to type a full word, but I only got a truncated, and somehow duplicated text when I press enter to send.

So, if you accidentally changed the language on the smartphone or need to change the WhatsApp language for a short time, you have to adjust or add the language in the smartphone settings. There you can also change the WhatsApp menu language and/or the WhatsApp keyboard language. If you use WhatsApp for Mac or WhatsApp for PC as a desktop app, the language settings of your smartphone will also be relevant.

Keyboard apps have the capacity to collect usage data. While typing on WhatsApp, the message only becomes encrypted after hitting the send button. Prior to this time, your keyboard software may have collected the typed-in words and store it on the developer's server.

Grammarly keyboard may also "obtain access to the names of your contacts on your device. This access helps the Grammarly Keyboard recognize when you are typing names so it can make appropriate suggestions (for example, if you misspell a name)."

Ai.type virtual keyboard in 2017 was reported to have harvested personal data of over 31 million users. Likewise, GO Keyboard was also investigated in 2017 for intrusive ads and was found to be collecting extensive user data including Google account information.

Hackers have also been exploring the usage of keyboards to spy on unsuspecting users. This software is called keyloggers. When deployed on a smartphone, it takes inventory of all keystrokes (all typed characters). Attackers can use it to obtain bank account information; login details; and even call logs.

If you add keyboards for other languages, you can type in two languages without having to switch between keyboards. Your keyboard automatically switches between the two languages you use most often. (Not available for all languages.)

If you add a keyboard for a different language, the corresponding language is automatically added to the Preferred Language Order list. You can view this list and add languages directly to it in Settings > General > Language & Region. You can also reorder the list to change how apps and websites display text.

Emoji add that bit of joy and human touch to textual conversations, even though they are merely symbols in a chat. Their use is so widespread and well-understood that picking the correct emoji quickly is the need of the hour in conversations today. Just last week, we spotted WhatsApp quietly giving the emoji picker keyboard a fresh coat of paint. Turns out someone at Meta is in a big hurry to get this feature out to the masses, as it is now reaching several WhatsApp beta testers.

Meta recently started rolling out WhatsApp beta version 2.23.12.13 through the Google Play Store. As WABetaInfo points out, this update gives beta testers their first taste of the new emoji keyboard UI. However, the rollout appears to be gradual, because not all testers, including a few members of the Android Police team, are seeing this just yet.

Eagle-eyed beta testers may also notice the paperclip icon for attachments which sat beside the camera icon in the message box is now a plus icon in the left corner of the box. In its old spot is a button to return to the alphanumeric keyboard when the emoji selector is open. This change could require some muscle memory retraining for regular WhatsApp users.

Although messaging apps like Telegram and Signal have become quite popular lately, WhatsApp remains the most widely-used messaging platform globally. The messaging app has released many new features to keep up with the competition, and despite privacy concerns by some users, its user base has continued to rise. If you're a long-time WhatsApp user, chances are you already use the web or desktop version of the app to stay in touch with friends or family on a PC or Mac. But did you know that you can level up your WhatsApp experience on these clients using some handy keyboard shortcuts?

The WhatsApp clients for web and desktop support a wide range of keyboard shortcuts that work on both Windows PCs and Apple Macs. The keyboard shortcuts allow you to archive, delete, pin, or mute chats, mark messages as unread, quickly look up chats, switch between conversations, and much more. Check out the tables below for a quick overview of all the useful shortcuts available.

If you spend a good chunk of your day texting on WhatsApp, we strongly recommend you try out the web and desktop versions of the messaging app on your great laptop, regardless of it's a PC or Mac. Responding to messages with a proper keyboard will be a serious game-changer and allow you to get through your backlog easily. These keyboard shortcuts will make the process even faster, but it may take a while for you to memorize them. It's well worth the effort, though, and we're sure you won't regret it. We hope this helps you make the best use of WhatsApp on a computer!

To make that process more efficient, you should use WhatsApp Desktop's keyboard shortcuts. That's why we've put together this list of all the shortcuts you need to know to become a WhatsApp Desktop pro.

However, the changes were expected to make something bad happen. According to WABetaInfo's recent post, the changes introduced several important crashes and critical issues while using the emoji keyboard - a problem widespread enough that WhatsApp took notice.

Aside from the emoji keyboard, people have also reported they couldn't react to messages with emojis after pressing the "plus" button within the reaction tray. Additionally, some users experienced the app crashing when they were configuring their avatars, accessing the privacy screen, and adding text over images using the drawing editor.

Unfortunately, users still downloaded the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.15.21 version, the update in question, leading to more users experiencing crashes. Thankfully, WhatsApp is reportedly fixing the crashes, especially on the emoji keyboard, through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.15.22 version.

Step 5: The newly added language will show up in the list of languages. Now, open WhatsApp chat again. Touch and hold the Globe icon. Choose the language with which you want to type in WhatsApp. The keyboard characters will switch to the new typing language.

Step 4: Scroll down to the All languages section and tap on the language that you want to type in WhatsApp. Select the keyboard layout for the new typing language and hit the Add button at the top.

The latest development has been spotted by WABetaInfo in the most recent beta version of the app. News of WhatsApp's redesigned emoji keyboard is nothing new, with reports in April suggesting that it would have a new layout. The upcoming change will see the keyboard picker move from the bottom of the screen to the top. Furthermore, the three emoji, GIF, and sticker tabs would be housed in a capsule.

WABetaInfo's new discovery shows that the emoji category bar isn't going anywhere, and rightly so. Many of our favorite messaging apps, like Telegram, with an emoji keyboard have the same category bar to save you time picking the perfect emoji.

Having said that, it appears to be swapping places with the keyboard picker and sliding to the bottom of the emoji board. The emoji category bar is currently located at the top of the screen, just below the chat box.

Add a powerful keyboard to your watchOS apps and dramatically improve the text input experience for users. Leverage full typing and editing capabilities to greatly enhance existing parts of your app, or enable entirely new features like messaging and note-taking, directly on Apple Watch.

Users can use these shortcuts to decrease the time required to perform the task manually, i.e., with the help of a keyboard and mouse. It might not sound convincing at first, but using keyboard-based shortcuts on a platform where the primary mode of communication is text messages makes sense, especially when WhatsApp is used by professional teams and groups, where every second counts.
