It isinteresting to add, that after the reading a cordial vote ofthanks to Dickens was proposed by Mr. H. G. Adams, theNaturalist, at one time editor of The Kentish Coronal, whorecounted the well-known story of the novelist's father takinghim, when a little boy, to see Gad's Hill Place, and of thestrong impression it made upon his mind.[272]
