Maybe someone will find this useful. I just bought old Asus N55SL and after installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 the sound was gone. I had a triangle next to High Definition Audio Controller in the device manager. Nothing seemed to help. I've tried different drivers and couldn't install them because Windows wouldn't allow me. It seemed that I tried everything and finally found a solution. I enabled POST Sound in BIOS and after the restart the sound was working in Windows. Good luck

In Device Manager I had "Cirrus CS4206A (AB13)" and three devices of "NVIDIA High Definition Audio". Then somehow I updated Cirrus driver to "High Definition Audio", but Audio-IN is not working, only Audio-OUT (The same thing with Cirrus). Just to mention, my MB is using only one "multi" audio jack.

Then I uninstalled Windows's default audio drivers "High Definition Audio Device" to get sound device without drivers and I quickly made a screenshot before they are installed again... And as you can see they are recognised as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"

That's BootCamp version I'm using (4.0.4033) and I installed it correctly!...I tried to reinstall BootCamp few times, but it seems that CirrusLogic Audio driver is unfinished! Only output works, but not the input! Why is that so? How to request Apple to check and repair their drivers?

Oh bro I tried re-installing those drivers many times, but no luck! ? I contacted Apple's ChatSupport and they told me that this is not their problem, because it's related to Microsoft (Windows)...So now I finished conversation with Microsoft Expert over chat and they told me that my audio driver is outdated and not fully compatible with Windows 7. So, stupid Cirrus (which I've never heard of before) is not updating their drivers. Microsoft expert suggested me to contact CirrusLogic Support, but there is no mail and I'm not in USA - so dialing their phone number is too expensive...

I really don't know what to do. This is Apple's false, because they don't really care if customers are satisfied. They are not forcing their suppliers to update drivers. Anyways, which model is your MacBook (which year) ?? Do you suggest trying Win 8.1 or XP ??

The "red" diode is the Optical laser. There is a microswitch which controls if your combined analog/digital port will output digital signals or analog signals. If you insert the headphone in the port and take it out (you may have to repeat this till the laser turns off), then you can install the BC drivers and test.

Yeah, output working fine (switching correctly between earphones and integrated speakers)...For input i tried Apple Earbuds, some PC headphones with mic (tried connecting with splitter) , my Guitar and Sony mic .

Click Have Disk and then Browse. Browse to the folder that contains the driver you just downloaded. These files include all the information necessary for updating drivers.

Avast Driver Updater scans your computer top to bottom, easily finds new or updated drivers for you, and keeps them updated automatically. It checks the compatibility of over 60 million drivers from more than 1,300 of the most well-known brands to make sure that your drivers get updated quickly and stay updated reliably.

But keep in mind that downloading drivers from third-party sites is risky and can expose you to malware and other threats. Only use sites you know and trust, or stick to the methods outlined above.

Periodically updating audio drivers can help avoid performance issues and introduce new product features. New audio driver packages may fix bugs that cause sound issues, while helping to enhance your sound devices. Generally, updating all your PC drivers will ensure your computer and accessories are functioning at their best.

If you are missing audio drivers on Windows 10 you have two options: you can run a Windows Update to automatically find new or missing audio drivers. Or you can use the Device Manager feature to search for missing audio drivers.

You can find them by visiting the support section of your PC or tablet manufacturer's website. Every manufacturer's computer or tablet model is custom-tuned to deliver an optimized audio experience for the device. Please contact your device manufacturer to download the audio driver for your particular model.

Hello. I normally run Linux on my Framework (Arch), and I have no issues. However, due to an online exam and lockdown browser (college student), I need to use windows. I was able to install it a few weeks ago on a 250GB expansion card using Rufus and Windows-to-go, and after installing the driver bundle, everything works except sound.

@nrp Sadly no change. I uninstalled the Realtek driver beforehand, to give it a good shot, but the behavior is still the same as with the beta bundle (after reinstalling Realtek). The speaker and mic show up, but the speaker is non-functional, and the microphone is completely dead.

@nrp

Might be a good idea to link to stand-alone driver packages alongside the bundle installer. May make it easier to troubleshoot driver issues between bundle releases if there are any newer drivers that are not yet in the latest bundle.

Hi, I downloaded the latest Beta drivers for Windows 11 from Framework site. Using an unzip program extract the individual drivers. Install the realtek audio driver and restart machine. I tried various other things but then uninstalled the realtek driver and the sound returned.

Note: For notebook products, your computer may enable the AI Noise-Canceling Speaker feature. This feature filters out all sounds except human voices from the laptop speaker. If you wish to disable the AI Noise-Canceling Speaker, please refer to this article: Why is the sound from my speaker abnormal? Speakers no sound, sound is intermittent or no audio, or only human voices but no background music

If the speakers problem happens recently, and if you have ever created a restore point or there is an automatic system restore existed, try to restore the computer to a point before the problem began to resolve the problem. Here you can learn more about How to use restore point to restore the system. If the problem persists, please continue the next troubleshooting step.

I'm right now reading the microsoft documentation about drivers and core audio apis. At the moment I'm still confuse which way to go to achieve what I need.I have an audio application which is Standalone and coded with framework JUCE in C++. And I need to build a Windows solution that would capture the audio stream that is going to an audio endpoint device to use it as an input of my audio application.

The microsoft documentation is very furnished, but even if the WASAPI provides a lot of ways to capture and stream from audio endpoint devices, I'm not sure it is possible to get an unaltered volume, as it will always capture what's exactly coming out of the speakers. This is why I don't know If I can implement a feature directly in my audio application that will get the streams I want with WASAPIs or if I have to code a proper Audio Driver that would make a copy of the streams I want for my application to be able to use these streams.

I installed ASIO4ALL but Im not sure what to do with this. After I installed it, and started Cubase, it prompted me about the drivers having changed and now ASIO4ALL is in the list. But when I selected it, I got an error saying no compatible hardware was found - Im assuming this is because Im not using the UR22C yet?

One of the VMs rolled up just fine, but the other is throwing errors regarding the audio controller. The speaker icon in the system tray is marked with a red X. When clicked, Windows attempts to repair the error and fails. Device Manager does not show an entry for Sound, Video, and Game Controllers like the 'good' VM does, but rather an entry for Other Devices where the Multimedia Audio Controller is shown with a yellow triangle and the device status is listed as Code 28, "The drivers for this device are not installed".

I've rerun the VMWare tools update; first Repair, then Modify where I removed the device from both Device Manager and VMWare, rebooted, reinstalled, and the condition persists. I've tried manually installing the driver, but that fails with the message "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance". References for this type of error harken back to Win XP and Vista days; I've tried what I've seen but nothing has worked so far.

Ah, were it to be that simple but alas, I removed VMware Tools and rebooted to Guest OS as instructed. After logging in, I noticed the speaker icon in the system tray is still marked with a red X. Device Manager now shows two entries for Other Devices; "Multimedia Audio Controller" and "Unknown device". Reinstalled VMWare tools using the "Typical" option and rebooted again. The red X in the system try remains, along with the lone entry for Other Devices; "Multimedia Audio Controller".

What I had done to recover the audio on the Windows 10 guests were to update manually the driver of the "Unknown Device" or "Multimedia Audio Controller".

Assuming you have a backup (either from a snapshot or disk backup) or another unaffected VM guest, check to see if you have the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMWare\Drivers\audio folder in the guest. On the other hand, if you have a snapshot or backup, you may also choose to not update the Tools for now (that is what I have chosen with the Ubuntu EFI guest).

Sad to report that re-installing the drivers manually did not work. Moreover, this version of VMWare Tools is missing the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMWare\Drivers\audio folder :smileyalert: It is also missing on the other, working, Win10x64 guest. I matched every installed sys and inf file in their locations from the working guest to the non-working guest - both match. 006ab0faaa
