Methods:  In this interrupted time series analysis, we analysed anonymised programmatic data from 65 primary care clinics in KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. We included data from people testing for HIV, initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART), and collecting ART at participating clinics during the study period, with no age restrictions. We used descriptive statistics to summarise demographic and clinical data, and present crude summaries of the main outcomes of numbers of HIV tests per month, ART initiations per week, and ART collection visits per week, before and after the national lockdown that began on March 27, 2020. We used Poisson segmented regression models to estimate the immediate impact of the lockdown on these outcomes, as well as post-lockdown trends.

Despite being on the losing side, Australia spinner Adam Zampa (3-71) will have enjoyed this game more than the fourth ODI when he returned record-equaling figures of 0-113. South Africa won that match by 164 runs to level the series at 2-2 with Heinrich Klaasen smashing 174 in 83 balls. On Sunday Klaasen was bowled by Zampa for just 6.

A first of its kind, this reality series focuses on the inter-relations between domestic workers and their employers by creating a platform where both parties can voice out their issues and find an amicable solution. New episodes land only on Showmax every Tuesday. Watch now

Until the demise of apartheid, the historiography of southern Africa was dominated by opposing schools with differing analyses of it. This series reflects facets of southern African history that were neglected by these contending historical schools. Indeed, changing power relations in the region have broadened the scope of historical inquiry. Emerging topics include the history of women, religion, ideas, popular culture, the professions, manners, childhood, disease, mental illness, death and dying, technology, and the environment.

Based on the best-selling novels by Sally Andrew, the series follows recipe advice columnist Tannie Maria and her colleague, rookie journalist Jessie September, who spring into action when a woman who was seeking advice about an abusive husband is found dead.

Finally, content buyers and distributors outside of Africa should be keeping a close eye on content coming out of the region. After all, the next global success could come from anywhere! For this reason, we have uncovered some insights about the African series currently performing strongly both within the continent and globally.

Quick summary: Similarly to South Africa, Egypt has strong local series production influencing tastes in the market . This can be seen for the comedy genre and soap opera subgenre, where demand for local titles has increased the Egyptian demand shares compared to the African average.

In this series, environmental and urban histories live side by side with histories of slavery, migration, and labor. World, comparative, diaspora, and border histories sit next to media and art histories. Economic and modernization histories are published alongside histories of gender and sexuality; race and ethnicity; nationality and citizenship; and generation and class. Capacious in their analytical and thematic scope, books in the New African Histories series reach across the very categories that define them.

In recent years the series has expanded its remit to include groundbreaking work on aesthetics, visual culture, and art history. Published in a larger format and generously illustrated, these books allow readers to see history in new ways. As we continue to reflect the dynamism of our field, we also aim to push it in new directions by publishing works that challenge the conventions that continue to shape the field. Imperative to this mission is our commitment to publishing the cutting-edge work of historians based at African institutions; manuscripts by first-time authors; and the work of established scholars who are breaking new ground. Ohio University Press is proud of its relationships with a number of African presses that copublish affordable editions of many of its African studies titles.

Alongside those Netflix Originals, some classic South African shows and movies are also available on the platform. From the recently added Intersexions and Tjovitjo to golden oldies such as Tsotsi and Hopeville, here are 10 South African movies and series old and new we recommend you stream on Netflix.

Intersexions is one of the finest drama series to ever come out of South Africa. The show follows the lives of different young South Africans as they navigate relationships and sex and illustrated the spread of HIV among young people. Intersexions doesn't feel like an educational show at all, as it portrays the lived realities of South Africans without hiding or sugar-coating any aspect of it.

The action-packed series depicts Queen Sono, the highly trained top spy in a South African agency whose purpose is to better the lives of African citizens. While taking on her most dangerous mission yet, she must also face changing relationships in her personal life. Queen Sono looks at South Africa's violent past, but doesn't dwell on it, instead opting to look at history's effects on today's society.

Hopeville, a series that aired on SABC 2 in the late 2000s, is an optimistic take on South African society. To support the swimming aspirations of his son, an estranged father attempts to restore a public pool but meets resistance from the community. Hopeville, starring veteran actor Themba Ndaba and then-emerging and young Junior Singo, the star-studded cast also included the likes of Desmond Dube, Jonathan Pienaar Terry Pheto and Mary Twala. The series explores the theme of father-son relations and can be both uncomfortable and heart-warming. Just like life itself.

As much as the cast helps to make the final product of Unseen a must-watch crime series, Gambit Films Productions and director Ozgur Onurme must also be credited. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Gambit Films specializes in high-stakes crime features and has also stepped into the sci-fi category with a film called Precious Metal, which tells the tale of a reawakened robot that brings corrupt conspiracies back with it. Such a range of genres shows their expertise in making entertaining films. Having adapted Unseen from a Turkish high-intensity drama series called Fatma, Mr. Onurme has seamlessly transitioned the female-led story into another space and another one-of-a-kind perspective.

Gail Mabalane breathes exactly the right kind of life into Zenzi, just as Burcu Biricik did to Fatma in the original series. And yes, I do keep mentioning the Turkish series because I found it to be brilliant.

The FTSE/JSE Multi-Asset Composite Index Series is a range of fully integrated multi-asset benchmarks designed to provide broad measures of cross-asset market performance. The series includes a set of indices covering different local and global asset classes; including South African equity, fixed income and property, as well as versions that include global equity and fixed income exposures. The indices are designed to meet local market regulatory frameworks and are consistent with Regulation 28 of the Pension Fund Act.

Although several MEWSs have been developed11,12, no sustainable system has remained because of several operational difficulties. Previous studies have proposed malaria forecasting methods based on different modeling approaches such as statistical modeling (e.g., generalized linear model (GLM) and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) time series model), mathematical modeling (e.g., susceptible-exposed-infected-recovered (SEIR) model), and machine learning methods (e.g., neural network)13. However, no one method has been a gold standard because each method has different modeling assumptions and the optimal choice of the method depends upon the characteristics of a study population. Another challenge to implement a MEWS in practice may be the great computational burden for obtaining seasonal climate forecasts periodically. Only few studies, for example, in Botswana, West Africa, and India have attempted to demonstrate malaria forecasting by integrating their malaria prediction models with seasonal hindcasts of meteorological variables14,15,16.

With arguably the strongest ladies field ever, the 2018 FNB Surfski Series will see the cream of the South Africa's women ocean racers go head-to-head over the exciting ten race series starting on Friday, 12 January at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club.

With two consecutive titles in the past two years, Hayley Nixon will be taking the 2018 series less seriously which opens the door, potentially, for a new series winner.

"We have seen the depth of ladies surfski paddling grow over the years and that is exactly what we want," Nixon expressed.

"More and more people from different paddling disciplines are seeing surfski paddling as great cross training which is drawing ladies to the sport."

There is always an excitement around the opening race of a series and for many of the ladies involved race one will be an opportunity to get early season points and a head start on the series log.

For Michelle Burn, 2018 will be another opportunity to continue where she left off in 2017, however with commitments at home taking centre stage she will have to pick her races carefully.

"Oliver sacrificed a lot for me in 2017 and was the stay-at-home dad, so I could race as hard as possible, so this year it is my turn to support him," Burn chuckled.

"I will definitely take part if conditions are good but this year I am going to be on the bank supporting!"

Despite Burn and Nixon not focusing entirely on their racing this year the depth in ladies surfski paddling means that there will be a number of other women that will be hoping to claim a prestigious FNB Surfski Series title.

The likes of young Kyeta Purchase, former Under 23 Ocean Racing World Champion Jenna Ward as well as recently converted surfski paddler Bridgitte Hartley could all be vying for the overall title.

In order to be amongst the final prizes paddlers must complete at least six of the ten races in the series.

Jenna Ward, who will be partnering up with Hungarian marathon star Vanda Kiszli for the FNB Dusi Canoe Marathon, is confident that this year will be another exciting year for the ladies.

"My focus is on the Dusi but I will definitely be getting involved wherever I can whether it be in a single or a double.

"I will just play it by ear but I love the series and really want to be paddling as much as I can," she commented.

Brad Guymer, the Senior Marketing Manager Sponsorships at FNB said, "FNB Business is proud to once again be the title sponsor of the FNB Marine Surfski Series in 2018.

"FNB Business wishes all the paddlers the best of luck as they embark on the upcoming 10 race series."

Race one of the 2018 FNB Surfski Series, the FNB Surfski Challenge, takes place on Friday, 12 January at Marine Surf Lifesaving Club.
