@tahiche Sorry to say that but your Soundcraft 12fx seems like the worst match for what you want to do: No hardware buttons to select channels to record from, no solo buttons, no stereo AUX bus...

A Behringer X1622USB looks more like a solution, although all the knobs take their space for sure.

Returned the Notepad 12fx and traded it for a A&H Zedi 10. The Zedi has tracks for usb 1/2 and 3/4. A bit bulkier than the Notepad but still reasonably sized. Very good build construction, seems sturdier.

I loved the Notepad 12fx, just that missing usb that spoiled it for me. Well that and the fact you needed a desktop to change the routing. The Zedi has buttons for everything.

1st Problem: board is powered on, i plug the USB cable in to the computer, the device keeps flickering as active and then gone, just constant flickering. can't get it to show in audio devices under windows device manager, but shows up as soundcraft 2.0 usb device sometimes. this occurs when i plug it into an actual usb 2.0 port.

my windows 10 is completely updated. i read somewhere that nvidia drivers may affect the things and uninstalled and simply using windows default drivers. this is also a completely clean install of windows 10 with really only the mobo audio driver and chip set drivers installed outside of the most up to date notepad 12fx drivers installed from harmans website.

For the Notepad-12fx the benefit of USB connectivity is the ability to making sketch recordings from the main L-R bus. Or the possibility to use software instruments in a live setup alongside other sources plugged into the analog inputs.

After i upgrade to Ventura 13.1 - my soundcard, Soundcraft notepad 12fx does not show all available inputs in my DAW (Reaper). This device does not typically need separate drivers - there is a control panel application that can be used to select what actual channels are routed to input channels 3-4 but at this time - those channels are not even shown in DAW - only 1-2 (or 1 and 2 if using mono).

Next up is the Notepad 8FX. Part of the same Notepad series, the 8FX features all of the same high-performance sonic characteristics of the notepad 5 but with more channels and the addition of Lexicon effects! With 2 mic preamps and a generous 3 stereo channels for 8 inputs to mix in total, the 8FX is perfect for serious home recordings or live sound for duets or ensembles who need a small and portable mixer for live sound. ff782bc1db
