I bought a second hand xz1 recently and one thing driving me crazy is that I can only pick one notification tone that is used for everything. I want my sms notification to be something different, and this has been easy to find in the settings on every other android phone I've had. With this one though, the sounds option under settings just takes me to the universal sound settings menu. If I go via apps>messages>notifications there is no sound option.

Only some notification sounds will play loudly enough to hear, but on further investigation it seems that the start of the sound might be reduced so that any short tone (eg for an SMS) doesn't play.

Are there any specific applications that you aren't able to set specific notification sounds for? Most applications have their own setting for this, which in most cases is accessed via the menu button in each application (3 dots in the top right corner or the 3 lines in the top left corner).

For some applications you can change the notification tone if you go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App-info > name of the application > App notifications.

Hi I have the following problem.I get whatsapp notification on the top of my screen when receiving new whatsapp message but I dont want any sound with it. I tried to look in whatsapp settings - notification tone - but it just lets me select different sounds for the pop up. No option to have no sound at all?

Hi, I tried your fix but didn't see an option to clear the data under all apps. In Whatsapp I sometimes receive message / call notification sounds and sometimes don't. I use the app both to talk with friends, family, & work and regularly miss important messages from all three because of this. If the problem cannot be resolved I am switching back to iPhone on my next upgrade.

There is no way to raise the volume for the ringtone, notifications, alarms, games, or media above the set maximum. Some Xperia devices, however, feature different sound-enhancing technologies which can increase the volume. The volume of sounds using a headset is not affected.

I have a Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra phone with Android 7.0 stocked. Could you suggest a solution to my issue as follows. While listening to music I can hear incoming notifications sound with music muffled a little bit during a playback. Then it comes to the norm. Is there any way to turn off any notification sounds when music is played back? (From any application that produces a sound for sending a notification.)

could you give me more information on what are the options for DO NOT DISTURB, their functions (behaviour). And one more question: if the DO NOT DISTURB mode is on, will it also disable notification sounds while NOT listening to the music? My goal is not to hear the notification sounds (as well as messages or events, or Viber, or Whatsapp sounds) when I listen to the music, and hear them, when I do not listen to the music. e24fc04721
