Saroj Khan's legacy includes several iconic Bollywood dance numbers featuring Sridevi and the song Hawa Hawai from Mr India is undoubtedly among them. Saroj Khan's death prompted Mr India director Shekhar Kapur to take a trip down memory lane and dig out a "sad" memory from when Hawa Hawai was being filmed many years ago. The photo stars Saroj Khan, who died on Friday, and Sridevi, whose tragic death shocked the film fraternity in 2018. Explaining the happenings in the photo, Shekhar Kapur wrote: "She was not just a genius at movement. She was a genius at expressions. Here she is explaining to Sridevi, how the choreography and expression were part of the same movement." Sridevi co-starred with Anil Kapoor in Mr India - he played the titular role.

Only Shekhar Kapur could have had the ingenious idea of rendering the background dancers black-faced in Hawa Hawai. Because that triumphant moment was hers and hers alone; the obliteration of any distraction, human or otherwise, was necessary. Hawa Hawai in that sense is the quintessential Hindi film song at its best; it is woven into the story and also works as a standalone number.

As the song begins, she improvises to keep up with the Hawa Hawai persona. You believe her when she says, Bijli giraane main hoon aayee". That is the effect Sridevi had on your heart: she struck lightning into it. It is difficult for me to watch this song sitting still even today, over thirty years after I first watched it. When she moves, you want to burst into dance too.

That may sound like lost treasure, but the remaining chunk is tons of bullion. While Sridevi crackles with the flair of a 1980s pop-star, it is the stunts that she pulls throughout the song that make it epic.

The music for the song Hawa Hawai was composed by the legendary duo of Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Known for their remarkable contributions to Bollywood music, they created memorable tunes that have stood the test of time.

Over the years, Hawa Hawai has been recreated and remixed in different ways. Several artists and musicians have put their unique spin on the song, giving it a fresh perspective. However, the original version by Kavita Krishnamurthy remains the most popular and cherished rendition.

These frequently asked questions shed light on the significance and impact of the song Hawa Hawai. Its catchy melody, lively beats, and spirited lyrics have made it an all-time favorite among music lovers, ensuring its place as a beloved classic in the world of Bollywood music.

After a few months as a tenant, Seema is invited to a lavish party hosted by an acquaintance, and she performs a song under the guise of a famous Hawaiian dancer, who is unable to make it to the party. After the performance, she is nearly killed by criminals who think she is a spy, but Arun comes to her rescue, styling himself as an invisible person and introducing himself to them as "Mr. India". Seema subsequently falls for her rescuer, however, Arun keeps his identity as Mr. India secret for a few more months. One day, Arun uses the device to trick one of Mogambo's henchmen to foil his criminal plans; he reports the incident to his leader.

The sequences where Sridevi dresses up as Charlie Chaplin's on-screen character The Tramp took between 30 and 35 days to finish.[29] In an interview in Filmfare's December 1992 issue, she called the sequences "my all-time favourite" and revealed that the film's crew loved her while she wore the costume.[30] The song "Kate Nahin Kat Te" was shot in Srinagar.[31] Saroj Khan found it to be the "most difficult song" of her career, and said she took fifteen minutes to do the choreography, requiring her to create "sensuous movements".[32] Filming was finished after 350 days and Waman Bhonsle and Gurudutt Shirali edited it.[2] Kapur asked them to cut several repeats of the line, "Mogambo khush hua", as he felt it appeared too often in the film. Akhtar disagreed with him, convincing him that the line would be popular with the audience. Peter Pereira handled the special effects.[33] He used mechanical effects to make Anil Kapoor's character invisible and stop-motion technique for his footprints.[26]

T-Series released the album on 30 October 1986; it became a commercial success.[34] 2.5 million cassettes were sold, according to a 24 July 1987 The Indian Express report.[36] M. Rahman of India Today wrote it "has started a trend and film-goers will be hearing similar music over and over again in several forthcoming films".[37] In 2018, Scroll.in praised Kapur's ability to "insert grown-up feelings into an otherwise family-friendly film without being tasteless" in "Kate Nahin Kat Te". The song, which Nikhat Kazmi labelled as the "encapsulation of the feminine nonpareil",[38] was parodied in Rangeela (1995), Aiyyaa (2012), and Gunday (2014), and sampled in the song "O Janiya" from Force 2 (2016).[39] "Hawa Hawai" was referenced in Salaam Bombay! (1988),[40] inspired the title of Amole Gupte's 2014 drama film,[41] and was remixed for Tumhari Sulu in 2018;[42][43] Sridevi performed it at the Hope '86 concert in Calcutta (present-day Kolkata).[2][44]

The song features Vidya Balan, Neha Dhupia and RJ Malishka and is set in an office party. Vidya plays Sulochana in the film who takes up the job of a radio jockey and this song is set inside the radio station. Vidya Balan is dressed in a saree for the song and in the making she reveals that she thought it would be really difficult to perform these steps in the outfit but turns out, she was able to ace it perfectly. Vidya admits that she is a huge fan of Sridevi and she thoroughly enjoyed performing on one of her iconic dance numbers. The making of the song reveals that the cast and the crew had the best time shooting this song. Rajeev Surti is the choreographer of this song and Vidya admits that though they were given steps and directives to perform, it was mainly about having a good time while dancing, so the enjoyment could translate on screen.

Shekhar Kapur's iconic film Mr India has completed 30 years since its release. It is remembered for several reasons, one of them being Sridevi's dance on the cult song 'Hawa Hawai'. The song has been recreated only once in Bejoy Nambiar's 2011 crime thriller Shaitan.

Now, music composer Tanishk Bagchi will rejig the song for Suresh Triveni's upcoming slice of life drama Tumhari Sulu. It will be showcased on the leading lady of the film, Vidya Balan, who will step into Sridevi's shoes for the song. She will also be joined by Neha Dhupia in the song.

Also, just like he retained Bappi Lahiri and Anuradha Paudwal's vocals in 'Tamma Tamma Again', he will retain veteran singer Kavita Krishnamurthy's vocals for the rehashed version of 'Hawa Hawai' as well. Rajeev Surti has been roped in to choreograph the new song.

She is funny, dreamy, the life of all parties and shy! She is none other than the sari clad Sulu aka Vidya Balan from the upcoming film Tumhari Sulu. Reprising the vintage song Hawa Hawai featuring Sridevi, Vidya Balan has left no stone unturned in putting her best foot forward in the recreated track Hawa Hawai 2.0.

The song Hawa Hawai released nationwide today (October 26) and is no less than a visual delight. Spreading positivity all around, Vidya taps a feet on the new song with Neha Dhupia and RJ Malishka. One cannot hold himself back from tapping his feet while watching Sulu dance on the beats of this peppy number. The dance steps are amazing and we have no doubts about it becoming popular soon.

Tumhari Sulu is undoubetdly Vidya Balan's most awaited film and the fans are all excited for the same. The first song of the film 'Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani' was greatly loved by the audience and the makers of the film are back with another peppy number titled as 'Hawa Hawai 2.0'.

The song is composed by Tanishk Bagchi and features the lead actress of the film Vidya Balan along with Neha Dhupia and Malishka and the song was shot during an office party. Kavita Krishnamurthy's unmistakable vocals have been retained. Tanishk Bagchi has recreated the old version of the song in which Kavita Krishnamurthy has retained the vocal of the song.

While talking to a leading daily, Vidya Balan talked about the song and said that it is purely dedicated to Bollywood actress Sridevi who was present in the original version of the song. She said, "No, no please don't say that. Srideviji is a legend, I can't even think of imitating her or taking her song and making it my own. This is the same Hawa Hawai and we have just used it as a tribute to her because it also suits the mood. It's not like we are dancing in the song or doing Mombasa, King Kong and Hong Kong. It's at a point where the whole radio team is enjoying the track and grooving to it."

The highlight of the song definitely is the Ooh La La girl Vidya Balan, who has brought a different energy to the song. Along with her, Neha Dhupia and RJ Malishka are seen shaking the leg which adds a different spice to the song.

Anupamaa has a lot of song and dance sequences which helps the show to go forward from time to time. Recently one of the cult song Hawa Hawai from the film Mr. India has been shot with Rupali Ganguly. Rupali performed on the song for her show.

Another one of my childhood memories was the song Main hoon roop ki rani from the ultimate big budgeted turkey, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in which during the course of the song, she displays amazing verve and loots a diamond necklace and runs away into thin air.

I cannot say that I have one particular favourite Sridevi moment. There are many or I can say every movie of hers that I have watched. but if there is to mention one I would say my most favorite Sridevi moment is the song "HAWA HAWAI.."

Talking about the lyrics and the recording of the song, Kavita said: "There is a small story behind this song. Laxmiji had composed three to four words. While I was sitting, Pyare bhai was getting the musicians ready. There were actually four words. When the musicians used to open the door and say 'Namaste' to Laxmiji, someone said note down the words 'Assi-Tussi', add 'Lassi-Pissi'. Another said, if there is Hong Kong, there should also be King-Kong." 006ab0faaa
