I recently took a new position with a company that uses Canon network copiers. Until now, all of my copier experience was with brand 'X' and I am at a loss for finding out how to change the sender when scanning to email.

I know that this original post was two years ago, but in case anyone else runs into this issue and would rather fix this on their own, I'll share what I know. Through a great amount of fiddling, I have fixed my email address sending on behalf of an old email address.

A quick trick is to create a scan template that already exists on the printer to see if it forces them/it to show up again in CWIS, or try restoring the defaults in the default template (re-syncs the HDD and ESS PWB)

OK - I'll stop calling it address list. I have a list of names for scanning. I can't find out how to get to it and edit it - I don't want to create a new one. I want to edit a list of names already visible under the scan function on the printer/scanner. I can't find out how to edit the list from the device web interface.

SMB/FTP scan locations are done as File Repositories ala CWIS > Properties > Services > Network Scanning > File Repository Setup, this is where you would put a typical File server. When people go to the device to use these, they each typically have a named template that goes to these repositories, but maybe add a level, so the repository is a server at IP 10.10.10.1 and a share called userscans. Each person has a folder in userscans with their first name. So the repository goes to 10.10.10.1 and the folder userscans, the template points to the repository and adds the name.

Is it possible there is a special web address or tab I need from the web page to get to the admin login which might have that? I know the admin username and password. When I go to the IP of the scanner it does not ask for it - it just gets me directly on the printer/scanner. Many brands have a special web admin login accessible in the top right of the web page of the device.

To my knowledge there is what I linked (which is for scanning and email, you just put in different spots) or LDAP address book for network scanning. That address book is not stored locally on device. It's a couple of pages above in linked documentation.

Using an IP range scanner, admins can set a specified range of addresses to automatically discover active IP addresses within that range. This can be especially useful within large subnets. IPAM helps admins detect used devices through Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) ping sweeps. With this feature, admins can quickly search for a defined range of IP addresses across managed nodes and poll devices for response time, status, and availability.

If you rely on spreadsheets or other insufficient tools, scanning an entire network for IP addresses and issues can waste valuable time. Leveraging IPAM as your IP network scanner enables you to scan your entire network automatically on an ongoing basis. Use IPAM to monitor and manage DHCP servers, DNS servers, and IP addresses from a single interface.

IPAM also allows you to manage your Infoblox environment, VMware, and cloud resources, and allows you to scan your network while leveraging user-defined fields like asset tag and serial number to facilitate precise network device management.

IP scanning is the ongoing IT task of analyzing a business network to discover IP addresses and identify relevant information associated with those IP addresses and devices. With this tool, admins can set a specified range of addresses to discover any IP addresses within that range.

An IP address scanner can help you manage your network. It can quickly discover all the IP addresses within a set range so you can start monitoring right away and deliver the network availability users expect.

SolarWinds IP Address Manager (IPAM) specifically works by scanning IP addresses and subnets to automatically detect changes whenever they occur. IPAM allows admins to choose between using any of the three protocols above based on what best suits the specific network environment. Plus, IPAM can scan as often as every 10 minutes, or as little as once per week. You have the freedom to schedule scans at the frequency that best suits your needs.

Discovering and managing IP addresses is a complicated process in most cases. An IP scanner provides major advantages over manual IP scanning. It can deliver essential information more quickly, provide automatic updates, alert admins to problem areas, and provide information to assist with proactive network mapping and organization.

IPAM offers robust IP tool features, including IP address tracking, alerting and reporting, and integrated management of DHCP, DNS, and IP addresses. IPAM can operate in hybrid environments that include local devices, VMware, and cloud monitoring. IPAM also allows network admins to easily delegate IP management to other team members or departments.

All of these problems can lead to network errors and slow down the process of resolving those errors when they do occur. By automating the IP scan process and ensuring that devices are always discovered, and their records are up to date, an IP scanner reduces network errors and creates a smoother troubleshooting process.

Got a screenshot of the entry in the trace? Typically it would be the mail server that states if it is a good address, not the printer. The printer might do so for an invalid character, and that invalid character may in fact be very valid to the server, which is why I asked about it previously. But anything I give is just guesses since I have no data to look at.

I have updated firmware to suggested version and captured 2 logs. First with email that i know it works and second with email I know it don't. The main difference is when I file is sent to one that works it shows Reciepient OK, on the other one shows No such user. Both email addresses are correct and both are within same domain.

If you update to the one I linked you can enable a network trace within the printer and view it in Wireshark to see what is happening. Do a scan that works and capture it, restart the capture and send the same email to one that does not work.

Hi, It's not a missing character thing. I tried both from address book and manually. I checked firware version and noticed that user is able to scan to email on lower firmware version same printer type so I downgraded to the same version but after setting everything up it's excactly the same issue for this specific user.

I have unusual problem with Xerox 7855 device. I have this device in the workplace and set it so end users can scan to their email addresses (all adresses within the company). This service is working on that printer for all users apart of 1 user (same email domain etc.)

When the attempt is made I got Job Status Failed printout with message saying One or more email addresses are invalid. Check your recipient addresses, remove invalid addresses and resend. Address is 100% right as I use it to scan to email from other printers and it works.

It looks like it only not scanning to email on that particular printer for specific user. I have triple checked configuration and cannot find anything that would restrict that particular user to use this printer from scan to email option. Printer is installed on the print server and shared. User got the printer mapped and can print to it without any issues.

Not an Evernote user? No problem. You may prefer the ScanBizCards app. The free version will work just fine for this project. The steps are very similar to that above. If you are an Android user, this is a great way to get your addresses into your Google contacts, which you are probably already using to sync across devices.

It should take you just a couple of minutes to scan the first record and verify that this will work for you. Additional scans are just a matter of tap to scan, edit, save, repeat. You can eliminate all of those old cards and envelopes in a very short amount of time. This is a great project to work on while you are binge-watching your favorite shows. 2351a5e196
