Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand you're having trouble with the camera when using Snapchat. Being able to take photos is important, and I wouldn't want the camera to be shaky either.

Those of you who have a Galaxy S22 (not Ultra), does it still just screenshot the camera preview and look generally terrible when using Snapchat? Is the video still 15fps in dark rooms? I'm on a S9+ currently, and compared to my girlfriends iPhone 13 the S9+ looks absolutely horrible in Snapchat.

I upgraded from an S9+ that would screen record in Snapchat. The photos are definitely improved. You can tell that its processing the photos after capture and they look a lot better than the preview that would normally be screenshot. However, both the selfie camera and back cameras are noticeably zoomed in to match the aspect ratio of the screen, which kinda sucks. You can mitigate this by using the wide-angle lens, but the quality of that lens is noticeably worse than the 1x.

Video, which was my biggest concern, is unfortunately the worst part. It's exactly the same as on my S9+. Screen recording the preview, stuttering and low framerate. I have compared videos from Snapchat and the camera app in different lighting conditions, dark and light, and it's not even a low light issue. In the camera app I can shoot great videos at UHD 60, and they look smooth as hell, but in Snapchat it feels like 1080p 24 after heavy compression. It doesn't even seem to use the Optical Image Stabilization.

But now I tried to take a picture with my rear camera and it's too dark. I've tried to google it and I saw some older posts with the same problem but I'm not sure what's the problem and how to solve it.

I recently purchased my S22 Ultra and snapchat has been functioning like normal until this morning. This morning when I would try to use the front facing camera, it would instead swap to the .6X Zoom camera also on the rear. I've tried everything from clearing the cache, restarting my phone, and reinstalling snapchat. Any suggestions on what to do? I've not changed any settings other than factory in snapchat. Camera, mic, and location permissions are on.

To fix this issue you can go to settings>permissions>permission manager>snapchat and untick the camera access permission and restart the snapchat app. When starting up the app is now going to request access to the camera and after allowing it this permission back its gonna go back to using the front facing camera like normal

In order to get started, you just need to download the lightweight installation package, accept the license agreement, and click the CAPTCHA box. Double-click the icon on your desktop to run the camera app on your Windows PC.

This just started happening today where my Snapchat camera will freeze and go black. I can still swipe to see my snaps and friends but I can't take a picture. I can switch to front facing camera but it freezes sometimes too.. I tried uninstalling it but no help. I opted out of the beta which k thought was the problem but still freezing. Was there an update with the pixel 2 recently ?

This phone had SO much potential. In the US, 99% of people use their Snapchat+Instagram cameras more than their main camera apps so it's such a shame that Asus seems to not really care about 3rd party app camera performance. My 2 friends returned their Zenfone 8's because of how bad the 3rd party camera/video performance was.... Sadly I will be selling my Zenfone 8 as well because I can no longer return it for a refund. I gave it over 3 months in hopes that Asus would fix the problem because I loved the phone so much. Huge bummer guys I still love Asus, but the 3rd party app camera performance needs to be one of their top 5 priorities considering how many people use it.

I think the main problem is that 3rd party apps always default to the ZenFones wide angle camera as the selfie camera. The wide angle camera (right) has much worse quality than the main camera (middle). it should be easy to set the default camera for 3rd party apps in the settings but this isnt possible. It's a shame to pay for an expensive phone and then not be able to use its main feature.

As soon as I re installed Snapchat the front camera works as normal, however once I clear my recent apps and re open Snapchat, the camera is super dark. The problems is though this only happens on the front facing camera and both the camera app work perfectly and so does Instagram.

I've used snapchats camera kit and filters in my react web app according to this -kit/quick-start/integrate-sdk/integrate-sdk-web/web-configuration#playback documentation but can't find anything about recording a video. How do i record a video ?

All of these were of Snapchat using my camera when I didnt have it open. It's a little funky. Is that normal? If I disable its permissions then I cannot use the app to communicate with friends. Can anything be done? (I have an s9 if that helps. I've only ever recieved these notifications on this phone.) Thank you in advanced! ?

Whilst it may not help this case, but just as an FYI. The iPhone 5 back camera has a history of having a terrible connection. If the back camera goes (and the front still works), just try giving the external camera glass a firm press... This is normally enough to spring it back to life.

I went to Apple today and they wanted us to buy a new phone $319 or replace the camera $59, no guarantee on the camera replacement. Camera was working in all other camera apps, except for the Apple Camera app! Frustrating. I used iTunes to do a hard reset. No luck. Then I looked in the camera settings and I changed formats -> Most Compatible. For some reason High Efficiency was checked, and when I tried to take pics with this checked, nothing saves to the camera roll. We don't even get a preview. I hope this helps someone else! :)

- If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping . If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

I have tried putting the phone on mute/do not disturb and having the ringer volume, alarm volume, and media volume off, and it still makes the sound. I have gone into the camera app settings and turned off the camera sounds, which works for my default camera app (I can take pictures on it with no sound) but it still makes the sound on Snapchat.

Snapchat doesn't directly use Xiaomi camera. It takes a screenshot of what happens on the screen through the camera. It doesn't actually take a 'photo'. I read it in an article. Try comparing Snapchat photos with camera photos with Xiaomi phone. The difference is absurd.

Snapchat doesn't want to make so many configurations for every Android phone that is getting pushed out on the market. Different resolutions, screen ratios, camera, etc., so they made a standard for probably all non-flagship phones I think. I got Mi Mix 1, this one is affected by this standard.

Switch it to the front camera on your phone so when your app opens, it shows you on the app screen. And now there's no more sound when you open or close your app, as long as you are using the front camera and always set it back to open the front camera on your phone.

When you look at the Polaroid Snap Touch, you see a camera that is trying pretty hard to gain the favor of the Instagram world. It even sort of looks like the Instagram logo. In the photo above, the camera is activated. You can do this by pressing the pop-up flash. In fact, this is the only way to electronically activate the camera.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Snapchat lenses on photos or videos saved in your camera roll. Snapchat lenses are designed to work only within the Snapchat app and cannot be applied to photos or videos outside of the app. However, you can save the photo or video with the lens applied within the Snapchat app and then export it to your camera roll. To do this, simply tap and hold on the photo or video in the Snapchat app and select the "Save" option. The saved photo or video will then be available in your camera roll with the lens applied.

It is important to note that not all lenses are available for use on camera roll photos or videos. Some lenses may only be available for use in real-time through the Snapchat app. Additionally, the availability of lenses may vary depending on your location and device.

Snapchat lenses are a fun way to add filters and effects to your photos and videos. However, what if you want to use a lens on a photo or video that's already in your camera roll? Here's how to do it:

Alternatively, you can also save a photo or video to your camera roll by holding down on the screen after taking a photo or video. This will bring up a menu with the option to save the photo or video to your camera roll.

Snapchat lenses are a fun way to add filters and effects to your photos and videos. However, did you know that you can also use Snapchat lenses on photos and videos that are already saved on your camera roll? Here's how:

It's important to note that photos and videos uploaded to Snapchat will have a white border around them and will not fill the entire screen. Additionally, they will disappear after 24 hours unless saved to your camera roll.

While lenses are typically used in real-time on the Snapchat camera, you can also apply them to photos and videos that are already saved on your camera roll.
