The average building age is eight years. The first high-rise in Jakarta was Wisma 46 (262 m), which holds the longest record, of 20 years, as the highest building in Jakarta. In the ever-evolving world of architecture and engineering, one project has captured the imagination of people across the globe. The Jeddah Tower, formerly known as Kingdom Tower, is rising from the sands of Saudi Arabia to rewrite the records and etch its name into the annals of architectural history. A testament to human ambition and ingenuity, this neo-futuristic skyscraper, designed by the visionary architect Adrian Smith of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, has once again begun its ascent into the heavens after a pause of nearly half a decade.

Hong Kong: Remi Lucidi, a 30-year-old French daredevil known for climbing various towers around the world, has died after falling 721-ft from the top of a 68-storey Hong Kong skyscraper that he had been scaling, according to a media report.

China came out on top with the most completions of at least 200-meter buildings in 2017. The country delivered 76 skyscrapers, or 53% of the total number completed globally. This is a decline from last year, when it completed 83 buildings, 65% of the world's skyscraper activity. The city of Shenzhen alone finished 12 buildings this year, which was more than any other country on the list. Most notably, it added the Ping An Finance Center, which is now the fourth-tallest building in the world at 599 meters.

Three buildings were completed in Mumbai this year, all of India's skyscraper deliveries. Like Malaysia, all of the completions were residential buildings. The tallest is a 266-meter tower called One Avighna Park. 17dc91bb1f
