The workers headed down Bay Street in a furor, smashing windows of businesses and looting as they went along. For two days the riots ensued, and the city of Nassau was in a state of emergency. Five black Bahamian workers were killed during the riots and over thirty white men were injured. One hundred and fourteen workers were arrested for their roles in the riots and soon the local jails were filled with inmates. The Nassau jail had to stagger entry dates for the convicted to avoid overcrowding. Many of the protesters were sentenced to hard labor and some would spend almost a decade in prison for their participation in the riot. Some colonial officials promoted unsubstantiated rumors that the riot was promoted by fifth columnists in the Bahamas working in support of Nazi Germany.

In response to the protests and riot, the government offered the workers a one shilling per day increase and a free meal at lunch. This action quelled the riot as more than half of the workers returned to work by June 4th. The unintended upshot of the Burma Road Riot was the rise of the Peoples Labor Party in the Bahamas, later led by Randol Fawkes. The Peoples Labor Party organized commemorative marches to remember the Burma Road Riot. As importantly, they joined with a growing number of political activists to demand independence from Great Britain. That independence finally came thirty- one years later on July 10, 1973.

On this day in Caribbean history, June 1st, 1942, many local political historians believe that this day marked the beginning of the modern political history of the Bahamas, The Burma Road Riots. The 1942 riot in Nassau was a short-lived impulsive outburst by a group of disgruntled laborers, and occurred against a background of narrow socio-economic and political policies.

The events of the Burma Road Riots came as a result of the agitation by natives wanting equal pay for equal work, regardless of color or nationality. Two rioters were killed by British troops, more than 40 people injured and over a hundred arrested, but those unprecedented events also led to long overdue reforms. The events in Bahamian history that played a significant role in shaping the modern Bahamas we experience today was what lead up to emanating from Majority Rule.

Marshal Kane put his policemen between the two groups and escorted the troops to Camden Station, where they boarded the train and left Baltimore. The Pratt Street Riot was over. The riot resulted in the first casualty list of the war. Eight rioters, one innocent bystander and three soldiers were killed, twenty four soldiers and an unknown number of civilians wounded.

Its Effects

Baltimore quickly felt the effects of the riot. The Governor and Mayor called out the militia to prevent further bloodshed. When a threat was made against Fort McHenry, one of the militia units was sent to help the U.S. Army defend it. Knowing that there were secessionists in the militia ranks, the commander of the Fort accepted the help on the condition that the militia could come no closer to the Fort than the Catholic chapel a half mile from the Fort or he would fire on them.

In May, less than a month after the riot, General Butler and the 6th Mass. entered the city and built earthworks on Federal Hill. Cannon were placed in the works so that they could be fired on the city. Civilians who had demonstrated secessionist sympathies were arrested and taken to Fort McHenry, where they were held without charge. Major Morris, the commanding officer at Fort McHenry, suspended the Habeas Corpus privleges of those prisoners. Baltimore fell under military rule.

During the gameplay, you will compete against other villains and characters. Your main goal is to finish the race fast and also be the first to get to the end line. While on the road, make sure to collect the grey sewer lids and use the Spacebar later to fire them at your enemies. That will slow them down considerably.

Another two things that you should pick up from the road are the golden coins and the protective shelters. The coins are there for extra points to your score, and the shields will grant you temporary protection from the enemy's attacks.

While on the road, it's best to avoid the mosquitoes, for they will block your view for a couple of seconds, but it will be more than enough to slow you down. The same goes for the pits in the pavement. Make sure to use the trampoline to jump over them, or you will suffer a deadly downfall. Don't worry, you will respawn and get a second chance, but it will cost you precious seconds.

In the Hidden City track, you will also encounter some useful roadcuts that will shorten your ride. Should you be lucky enough to hit them while going at such a speed, they will surely boost your time and help you catch up with your opponents.

The road twists and turns, so you might find yourself going upside down, with your controls inverted. It's a tricky job to do, and it requires excellent perspective view and motor skills. It's advisable to keep practicing in Quick Race to get the hang of it, before rushing to the Tournament and competing against the best drivers of the world.

The 1967 Detroit Riots were among the most violent and destructive riots in U.S. history. By the time the bloodshed, burning and looting ended after five days, 43 people were dead, 342 injured, nearly 1,400 buildings had been burned and some 7,000 National Guard and U.S. Army troops had been called into service.

An hour passed before the last person was taken away, and by then about 200 onlookers lined the street. A bottle crashed into the street. The remaining police ignored it, but then more bottles were thrown, including one through the window of a patrol car. The police fled as a small riot erupted. Within an hour, thousands of people had spilled out onto the street from nearby buildings.

On Monday, the rioting continued and 16 people were killed, most by police or guardsmen. Snipers reportedly fired at firemen, and fire hoses were cut. Governor Romney asked President Lyndon B. Johnson to send in U.S. troops. Nearly 2,000 army paratroopers arrived on Tuesday and began patrolling the streets of Detroit in tanks and armored carriers.

Ten more people died that day, and 12 more on Wednesday. On Thursday, July 27, order was finally restored. More than 7,000 people were arrested during the four days of rioting. A total of 43 people were killed. Some 1,700 stores were looted and nearly 1,400 buildings burned, causing roughly $50 million in property damage. Some 5,000 people were left homeless.

In the aftermath of the Newark and Detroit riots, President Johnson appointed a National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, often known as the Kerner Commission after its chair, Governor Otto Kerner of Illinois. In February, 1968, seven months after the Detroit Riots had ended, the commission released its 426-page report.

Hundreds of riot police descended on Binh Thuan parish in Nghi Thuan commune on July 13, where a similar number of protestors were trying to remove parts of a fence built around the road, which was handed over to a private company by the government to make way for an industrial zone.

But the 1967 eruption, also known as the 12th Street riot, was remarkable not only for how long it lasted, but for the force that the city, state and federal authorities brought to bear in an effort to impose order on a city in flames. Then-governor George Romney sent in thousands of National Guard troops, while President Lyndon Johnson eventually ordered paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne on to the streets.

Long before even a semblance of calm was restored, however, chaos reined, and horrific tales of assaults, beatings, robberies and killings poured out of the city including allegations, later reported on by the great journalist John Hersey, that Detroit police officers murdered three young black men at a Detroit motel in the midst of the riots.

Some of you may think this is lore breaking, but let me explain my case. The NCR Veteran Ranger Armor is really just pre war riot police armor. Also, the Lonesome Road Variants lack the cowboy accents, and thus would be more lore friendly for, and more like to be found in the DC Wasteland.

This would be very a very nice idea. Retextured in a darker/black look and replace the helmet with the Fallout police hat. The ranger armor is afterall, modified riot gear, something that the DCPD would have as well.

Sorry if this is a necro, but I thought it's worth pointing out for people who find this via search engine, that something like this already exists - but I'm not sure which mod added it. Possibly TTW Interiors. Anyway, somewhere downtown (I won't spoil it) I found a set of riot gear with a big "DCPD" on the back. It's cool as heck, and great armor, and it's awesome to roll around the Mojave rocking my DCPD armor.

It is from the most excellent TTW Interiors mod by Chucksteel; I do recall picking up two very nice light armors named 'Riot Armor' from DCPD Police Headquarters upstairs in the Armory (locked up tight with a very hard terminal - Requires an effective science skill of 100 to get these, there is no lockpick option). Although technically these are not 'riot' armor really, based on their stats and looks these are something the cops would more likely have called 'DCPD SWAT Bodyarmor' - Complete with a high NIJ protection level advanced bullet-resistant vest with inserts/trauma-plates, police BDUs and combat boots.. In other words, this is a lot closer to the Sierra Madre Reinforced Security armor (Light armor) in functionality than Lonesome Road Riot Gear (Medium armor). ff782bc1db
