Miller played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, earning third-team All-American honors as a junior in 1986. He was selected by Indiana in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft with the 11th overall pick. When he retired from playing, Miller held the NBA record for most career 3-point field goals made. He is currently fourth on the list behind Stephen Curry, Ray Allen, and James Harden. Miller led the league in free throw percentage five times and won a gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics. His No. 31 was retired by the Pacers in 2006.[6] Miller is widely regarded as the Pacers' greatest player of all time.[7][8][9] After his playing career, he became an NBA commentator for TNT and college basketball analyst for CBS Sports.[10]

Let's acknowledge this right off the bat: Miller is one of the best shooters that has ever lived. With 2,560 made 3-pointers, he ended his career as the NBA's greatest long-range shooter. He currently sits second behind only Ray Allen on the all-time list. Reggie also led the NBA in free-throw percentage multiple times, finishing with a stellar 88.8% mark for his career. He was named to the All-Star team five times and made the All-NBA Third-team three times as well.

During his USC career (1978-81), the San Diego product carried the ball 932 times for a total of 4,810 yards (second in USC history) and 45 touchdowns (third in USC history). He helped USC win the national title in 1979.

Lewis blocked Jordan four times in that game and harassed him into a 12-for-36 shooting performance. On a night when Bird had his own shooting issues (he missed 21 of his 36 shots), Lewis scored 25 and utilized his lethal first step to keep Chicago's defenders guessing. Was he going left or right? Would he shake you with that explosive first step and attack the rim, or would he suddenly pull up after one devastating dribble and hoist his trademark praying mantis jumper?

Nobody got more psyched out by Gaylord Perry's Vaseline-ball than Reggie Jackson, whom Perry struck out 22 times. One memorable incident came late in Perry's career in Seattle, when Jackson reacted to a strikeout by retrieving a pail of water, putting it on the field and hollering words to the effect of "Here, Gaylord, let me help you load it up." Jackson was ejected.

Jackson was often one of the few black students attending his school. His background differed greatly from that of other black major leaguers of his generation who came of age in segregated communities and learned early the importance of a low profile. His comfortable demeanor among whites of relative affluence was at times a source of problems with other players, the press, and ownership.

Though he batted .300 only once in his 21-year career, Jackson clouted 563 home runs, ninth on the all-time list, and was the first player to hit as many as 100 homers for three teams (the Athletics, Yankees and Angels). The lefthanded-hitting slugging outfielder led the American League four times in homers, three times in slugging percentage, twice in runs and once in runs batted in. Fourteen times he was selected for the All-Star team.

At the 1977 World Series, it was Jackson's bat that was smoking; he hit .450 to go with his record five homers. He also set marks for the highest slugging average in a six-game Series (1.250), most total bases in a six-game Series (25), most runs (tied with 10), most runs in a game (four) and most times reaching base in a game (five). e24fc04721
