I don't know who "hyper" or "alex" are but yeah it would be nice to have the functionality put back in, if possible. I like the compact version from redalert1.com and its also nice to have all of the cs/am missions without having to swap disks and all that.

You can also help the DROPING, which is a problem in red alert when things build anywhere when you are making things fast, sometimes people have wondered around the internet trying to solve this problem and found software that made this or that etc that problem is made because generally speaking Windows 95, 98, xp and so shared the same mouse behavior, but in the VISTA, window 7, and windows 8 mouse changes just so much, sometimes it just drops, it can easily be fixed with some software, haven't download it yet, it sound crazy but i love when things drop because it the original behavior of the game.

This problem has been a major issue for our games, i still do not know how to solve it.

The other day a player shared some useful information about the error.

There is a log file in your redalert 2 folder that shows the error in some detail.

He said this can be caused by players cheating, it generates a code and shuts the game down because a player was cheating and CNCnet detected this.

I didnt believe the user until he showed me he could cause the error. Seems cheating is stopped by CNCNET by creating this error and stopping the game.

Im not sure this is an effective method, im also not sure why if someone is cheating the system doesnt kick the user straight away.

We also play in a small group of friends and never really have any reason to cheat but this does still create crashes for us and we still do not know why.

reconnection error means the games clients are out of sync. Cheating can cause this also. One players came is doing things others dotn do and it throws them out of snyc. When i played on the orig servers some maps would cause a reconnection error when a player with gap generators lost power or the gap gen was destroyed. On those maps it was due to glitched terrain , like hills that are not properly made as well as misplaced nuke reactors. I used to fix them all the time. On cncnet there is that redzones map that recones if the player at spot one makes gap in the top left corner and loses power. I looked at the map and cant see any irregular terrain. SO, I'm not 100% sure what causes it on that map.

There are already servers available all over the world so you don't necessarily need to host your own to play through a server. If you want to host a server anyways, check this: -how-to-host-a-cncnet-server/

That fixes graphical rendering speed (efficiency) not network related problems though.

When playing on cncnet the client usually uses a ddraw.dll (ts_ddraw version).

You can always find the file yourself in the client's resources folder.

I have installed Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge via The First Decade DVD, followed by the CnCNet5_YR_Installer which I downloaded from cncnet.org. Upon installation, I think the program tried to run as there was immediately a window popped up with the heading "Kabooooooom" indicating that Yuri's Revenge has crashed, and a crash log has been saved. I closed the prompt and tried opening Yuri's Revenge CnCNet via its icon on the desktop as well as in its folder, and the same crashes happened with new crash reports created.

Run discord as administrator or stop running the game as admin.

Running the game as admin should be the cause of the issue. Whole reason we have to run the game as admin is because its in the program files (x86) folder which is write protected. So I did this and no longer have to run the game as admin

-Go to C:\

-right click and create new folder, name it origin games

-right click the origin games folder, go to properties

-un check read-only, hit apply

-move yuris revenge by opening origin and

-Find Red Alert 2 in your Game Library.

-Right-click the game tile and select Move game.

-Find the new c:\origin games where you want to move the game to.

-Click Select Folder

-Wait for the game to fully move (it moves the cncnet mod too)

-Go to C:\origin games

-right click Command and Conquer Red Alert II folder, properties, uncheck read only if its on, apply if needed

-go into Command and Conquer Red Alert II folder find CnCNetYRLauncher

-right click, properties, compatibility tab, uncheck run this program as an administrator if its on (might need to also do this on desktop icon if you have one, or delete that one and create new)

Game should run without asking for admin.(edited)

Probably don't have to do all of that unclicking of read only but thats how I did it when it worked. Might want to note which renderer you are using in game if you changed it. Don't think it copied that setting when I moved mine. Or instead of moving you can change the default install location in Origin and reinstall the game and cncnet.

in the free version of red alert 1 (FullRA.exe), when you are playing a skirmish, is there a way or setting that will allow me to set that i want to build 10 tanks, and as one finishes the next one will start building.

anyway it doesnt matter if we disagree. was just trying to explain since you said you dident understand the point of it. there is a reason it is a unwritten rule on the xwis servers and also for most of the experienced players on gr and cncnet. my point was trying to elaborate that reason. when there was a topic open in this forums for people to reuest options for the yr client many requested this and multi engineer, thats how it got added to the client.

noobs playing noobmaps are always in the majority. its not any different on cncnet. 90% of the games on cncnet are noobgames, go take a look on the xwis forums and you will see alot of people claiming the same about cncnet as you are about gr. truth is; they dont take the effort to find good games, they take a look 1 or 2 times play a few random games against noobs and conclude everyone must be a noob and dismiss everyone who claims otherwise, i guess you must have came to that conclusion about gr the same way.

i been playing on gameranger for years and there have always been a fairly large group of competent players, now its not as much as it used to be some years ago. last year gr saw an increase of xwis players since gr is superior for 2v2 ffg, ra2 that is. actually, most of the experienced players on cncnet used to play yr on gr before cncnet hosted yr. nobody plays yr on gr anymore nowadays.

I made a map in FinalAlert 2, saved it as .map file in the Custom folder where other maps are for cncnet. But when I host a game I want to choose the map but it isn't there. Game modes are set too in fa2. Help! 006ab0faaa
