You may want to just get a MIDI keyboard. You can couple it with something like a Yamaha UX-16 MIDI to USB converter (which works in Arch with no work on your part but plugging in the cables). Go for weighted keys if you've got the cash, since they're way more satisfying to play on.

I'm pretty sure it's fairly easy to find a keyboard with weighted keys that also has MIDI output. But if she wants to play organ on it too, I'm not sure how important that is, since weighted keys won't feel like an organ. It's a shame you can't build a keyboard with piano, organ, and harpsichord key feel options.

One alternative I can think of is getting a wireless korg microkey air (goes from 25, 37, 49 to 61 keys 7/8th size and decent playability though definately less than the cp) and an ipad with a good piano. I guess I might be trapped in the korg ecosystem, but korg module on ipad with some iap addons comes close to a nord stage 3 in versatility.

Hello, I am using Cubase 10 and a relatively cheap midi keyboard connected . I am thinking of purchasing a more expensive digital piano keyboard to use with Cubase but I am not sure if its going to work as a midi keyboard as the one I have, although it is clearly stated in the description of the seller that the instrument has midi capabilities. In other words, would I be able to resume my composition work on cubase using a digital stage piano instead of a midi keyboard? . Thank you

If you just want to have a stage piano that talks MIDI back and forth via USB, many keyboards do this, at lower price ranges. Heck, even the 90 Euro keyboards do this. I think this particular keyboard is trying very hard to offer a good touch and response, to compare with a REAL piano.

But the real question is: Do you want to have an absolutely piano-like touch under all circumstances? Do you use orchestral instruments? How are you going to control Continuous Controllers with this piano? Are you ok with putting them in afterwards, or keeping around a cheap keyboard to tweak CCs with that, in addition to the stage piano?

You will be able to use any vsti that you load from Cubase. You could even play drums. But as @st10ss, you will not have pitchbend, modulation, available pots for CC control, things that are not needed to play piano, but to play other instruments through halion, or any other instrument (e.g. strings, woodwinds, brass, synths, etc.)

Hi, there are a few improvements in the new CLP-7xx series, including the slightly tweaked key action mechanisms, and the new improved sound engine with binaural samples available for the Bosendorfer tone. Apart from that, they are very similar as far as piano playing goes. Of course, the CSP-150 comes with many more styles, songs and sounds than the CLP-735 but the question is whether you need all of that. Also, note that the CSP-150 requires a smart device to be connected to use most of its features.

Hi, thank you for your kind reply! I had an opportunity to test these pianos, and I decided to go for Kawai CA59 instead. The feeling and touch with the CA59 was much better for me if compared to Yamaha. Yamaha was also really nice but for me the Kawai felt more realistic. It reminds me the touch I have get used to while playing real acoustic piano. The sound with headphones was also richer, and I probably will play most of my time with headphones. You are also right, I might not need all of those fancy sounds since I like most the genuine sound of a grand piano or an upright piano.

Have you had a chance to review the Nord Grand piano? If so, was there a reason not to include in this review? With the wood stand, I feel this combination could compete in sound, be an attractive piece to keep in the home, and still be less expensive than virtually all new acoustic pianos.

Hello! I want to take up playing piano again however due to the size of the house I am currently in I cannot fit anything more than a 61 key digital piano ? . By far the most most most important thing to me is the weighted feel, to make the keyboard feel as much like an acoustic piano as possible. I have looked through many reviews though it seems the 61 key digital keyboards all seem to lack this feature in exchange for others. Is this true?
