If your file is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint in Microsoft 365, you can go back to a previous version of file. This is incredibly important if a mistake was made, you have issues with malware or a virus, or you just prefer a previous version. This is also important when you're collaborating with others and someone makes changes you didn't want in a file.

If you can't find a file on your computer or you accidently modified or deleted a file, you can restore it from a backup (if you're using Windows backup) or you can try to restore it from a previous version. Previous versions are copies of files and folders that Windows automatically saves as part of a restore point. Previous versions are sometimes referred to as shadow copies.

Navigate to the folder that used to contain the file or folder, right-click it, and then select Restore previous versions. If the folder was at the top level of a drive, for example C:\, right-click the drive, and then select Restore previous versions.

You'll see a list of available previous versions of the file or folder. The list will include files saved on a backup (if you are using Windows Backup to back up your files) as well as restore points, if both types are available.

Double-click a previous version of the folder that contains the file or folder you want to restore. (For example, if a file was deleted today, choose a version of the folder from yesterday, which should contain the file.)

Right-click the file or folder, and then select Restore previous versions.

You'll see a list of available previous versions of the file or folder. The list will include files saved on a backup (if you're using Windows Backup to back up your files) as well as restore points, if both types are available.

After you complete the steps, you can use the snapshot to restore previous versions of files on your device every time a new restore point is created. However, unless you create new restore points manually, the number of snapshots for recovery will be limited.

If you require a previous version of our professional products that isn't listed below, it may no longer be supported. Please review our Supported Pro product versions page and contact the Posit Support team for assistance.

Thanks for confirming its another reason to NOT use Dropbox and continue using Google Drive. I tested the version control in Google Drive and it works as per a DMS system (checking in and out is not what I'm talking about) where you can rename a file but keep the previous versions.

You can view and restore previous versions of files and folders in your Dropbox account. How far back you can view and restore is referred to as version history and depends on the Dropbox plan you have.

For example, if you upgrade from Dropbox Basic, which has a 30-day version history window, to Dropbox Professional, which has a 180-day version history window, you'll be able to view and restore previous versions of files and folders within the next 180 days, but you won't be able to view and restore previous versions of files and folders from 180 days ago.

When you install a new version of a Creative Cloud app, its previous version is removed by default. However, you can set a preference to retain the previous version.

Ā Enterprise users: If your organization has disabled auto-updates, the auto-update option is not available in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

I can't find any activity history for either to go off of. I need to get the folders moved back to their correct home, but I need something to go off of. Either a log that shows what was moved, or a previous snapshot of the folder to see what belongs in the now empty location.

I work for a design system team, and we update our library according to a certain cadence.

The issue is that sometimes, designers working for the product want to stick to a specific version of the library and if they start a new file, for example, they cannot choose a previous version.

Example of a scenario where this is useful - I just published a new version of a Storyline file to review after a team member had worked on it and realised a few minutes later dropbox had not synched, so the version I published was incorrect. I need to keep the trail of previous versions (as there are specific checks and changes on each) and new versions in the same Review file, though would have liked to delete the incorrectly published version as it is redundant and may cause confusion down the line.

Hi I'd like to to add my voice to this request. It would be great to be able to send out a 'clean' published item using the same link as before but without a list of previous versions in the dropdown. I don't want clients scrolling through that. I just want them to have the current version. Nor do I want to change the name of the link and have to confuse them by sending updated links everytime something is updated - its better if they know they can just use the same link they know and trust and not get muddled over which link to use.

Hello I recently updated our site from using BeTheme from v22.0.1 to v24.0.3.1. Unfortunately, it looks quite broken now. Given that we're accomplishing a lot of design needs via a child theme, I'm not blaming BeTheme for this, but I'd like to be able to download previous versions, like 23.0 to identify at what point in the updating schedule this occured, so I can pinpoint the solution to do.

Some previously released versions of Autodesk software are available as a benefit when you subscribe to a current version of Autodesk software. These are subject to the Autodesk Previous Version Rights. These rights allow you to install and access specific previous versions, as well as the most recent version, but you can't exceed using the total number of current licenses at any given time. Note that most Autodesk software is backward compatible, so if you upgrade to the latest version, you can still access older drawings or files.

In most cases, you can download previous versions in Autodesk Account, with no need to request a new license. The following table summarizes the eligible previous versions available depending on the plan type. Follow the links for more information.

Customers with an active subscription of the products listed below are eligible to download and use previous releases* of Autodesk software. To download a previous version, see Download previous versions.

I believe this question has been asked and answered on the WIFCON forum before but I am unable to locate it. My question is simple, "Where does one go to find previous versions of the DFARS?" I've looked all over Google and am unable to find anything.

If you saved only once, and SketchUp uses default settings, the previous version ought to be saved as a backup file, with the .skb file extension. You can make a copy of that, rename it with the .skp extension and try opening it.

I created a volume on a CIFS SVM, created a share on it, enabled show snapshot directory, and when I browse that share, I see the snapshot directory. I snapped the volume, and renamed a test directory in the share, and still do not see anything on the previous versions tab, but the original directory name is visible in the ~snapshot\snapshot_datestamp_timestamp directory.

If you're on a Business or Enterprise plan, you can request a Sheet Snapshot from the Activity log from when a change was made. This will email the owner of the sheet an Excel file you can use to copy/paste back in your previous data. (See: Request a sheet snapshot).

I am looking for an older version of the Alteryx Designer. Other posts about that refer to downloads.alteryx.com where you can find new and previous versions. However, going there now routes you to alteryx.flexnetoperations.com and from there there's no tab for new versions and one for previous versions. I am looking for an older version because the 2022.1 version I installed on my new laptop has an error for a nested if statement, which is working fine in the 2021.4 version I was using on my old laptop.

You can check what previous versions looked like by viewing the card history (in the wrench menu)., but we don't have the capability of rolling back to previous versions (except to examine what a prior version looked like and rebuild it that way from the current version).

I believe the unraid style of aggregate volumes with parity makes sense for me for media volumes. That said I rely on BTRFS snapshots and the previous volumes feature it enabled in windows 10. I don't have complicated snapshot requirements, and could live with something simple say one snap a day, keep the last 7 days worth before they are auto purged.

You can take snapshots manually with the CLI (or a script) or use for example the snapshots plugin, just keep in mind that with Unraid each array device is an independent filesystem, so if a share spans more than one device they will be in multiple filesystems/snapshots, as for previous volumes with Windows they should work as long as the correct Samba options are set, it's something I never tried but I think I've seen in the forums before.

The problem appears when i take a snapshot : i find the snapshot within OMV GUI and within ".snapshots" folder but on my windows clients, when i go to the "previous versions" tab it is not appearing, the tab is empty.

Hmmm, i verified that on a test system and curiously i need to set shadow:localtime = no to get previous versions working. That is really strange because at the time i fixed that it was it was just the other way around. I had to look into the shadow_copy_2 vfs module of Samba what the hell this module is doing. Actually, i've become quite frustrated with this feature and someone else should do it if they want it to work. The problem is that, when i switch shadow:localtime to no by default I'm sure other users are screaming that it doesn't work anymore. No matter what i did with this feature, there were always users for whom it didn't work. 17dc91bb1f
