Just to see what it would look like I tried scanning my cell phone, and the image came out in grayscale. After making sure all the settings were correct, I tried it again but this time with a pack of gum laying next to it. This was the result. Other than some cropping, that's a completely unedited image. So why is a scanner unable to pick up color coming from the screen?

I have this issue where my fingerprint scanner does not work on occasion while my case is on my phone. It's a UAG featherlight case and as soon as I take the case off the scanner works again. Sometimes I have to take the case on and off multiple times. The case doesnt seem to be blockimg any sensors whatsoever and the cuttout for the scanner is more than sufficient to get good finger placement every time I use it. Any ideas what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to share my project using an HTC Android phone as a barcode scanner.

The barcode info is then transfered to my Arduino unit using either Bluetooth or USB-OTG connection.

App supports most barcode types: QR, Data Matrix, Code39 etc.

If the application answers to the call, the message will be printed in the message box.

And if you dont want to use the scanner, the application supports manually entered strings aswell.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing the info. Though I can't get to the vedio you uploaded here, I went to check in Google shop. It looks pretty good. I think I'm gonna give it a try because the qr code reader on my phone is not able to read any other barcodes like Data Matrix, PDF-417.

Hi @kvlschaefer CC @EDise

I currently face the same issue, did you manage to sort it out?

For contacts that are already in Hubspot, when I want to scan their business card to upload/update info, the phone number is spotted by the scanner but doesn't flow into Hubspot at the end.

I can share with you an example if you need.

Currently, the business card scanner can scan phone numbers to the Mobile Phone Field in HubSpot.

Can you please confirm if you are trying to sync a phone number to the Mobile Phone Field please? If yes, could you please send me a private message with a screenshot from your phone when it shows this phone number is collected and saving this, but then the contact does not end up with these details?

I wanted to share this knowledge base article regarding which contact fields are imported when using the Business Card Scanner. Currently, the business card scanner can scan phone numbers to the Mobile Phone Field in HubSpot.

Thank you!

For the majority of your paper-based and handwritten Gradescope assignments, you need to scan hard copies of your pages and save them as a PDF before submitting. No scanner? No problem. Keep reading to learn how to scan from your phone and then how to submit your scans in Gradescope from your computer, phone, or tablet.

There are many makes and models of barcode scanners on the market. Each type of barcode scanner has limits to what kinds of barcodes it can scan While the low price point of laser scanners may be attractive, do not buy a laser scanner if you need to scan a barcode off of a mobile phone screen. Laser scanners cannot scan the screen of a mobile device, smart watch, or flat screen TV. In addition, laser scanners cannot scan 2D barcodes or QR codes at all. For these reasons, we recommend using 2D imaging barcode scanners.

Laser scanners emit light when they scan because the laser light must be reflected back in order to read the barcode. 1D barcodes are composed of black and white bars where the space between the black and white bars define the value. Laser scanners cannot scan barcodes displayed on phone screens because light is not reflected back. Mobile phones have anti-reflection technology to prevent glare and they are constantly emitting their own light from their LCD screens.

2D imaging scanners can read both 1D and 2D barcodes. Most importantly for use with the ID123 app, these scanners can read barcodes displayed on phone screens. 2D imaging scanners come in a lot of varieties. There are types that look and function like the more traditional point and shoot laser scanners, with a laser still used for aiming. Some 2D imagers are hands-free and installed in locations or scan kiosks.

Rugged scanners are for use cases that require field work or scanning in rough locations. They are priced higher because of this, but an expensive rugged scanner is not necessary for most use cases. Cheaper handheld 2D imager scanners and scanning accessories that plug into PCs may be sufficient for most use cases.

The mobile app called codeREADr offers this service. The CodeREADr app is a mobile application that turns phone or tablet into powerful 2D imaging scanner. The application allows enterprises to create custom scanning workflows on their cloud-based platform. Read more about CodeREADR here.

You may already have experience creating digital copies with a desktop scanner, which is similar to a photocopier. However, many smartphones and tablets can actually capture high-quality scans of paper documents with their built-in cameras, which makes the process faster and more convenient than a traditional scanner. In this lesson, we'll talk about some apps you can use for iOS and Android mobile devices.

Another way to scan a document with your smartphone is by downloading a separate mobile app to your device. These apps can convert text documents into PDF files. There are many applications to choose from, but they all work in the same basic way. Some of the most popular scanner apps include Tiny Scanner (Android and iOS) and Scanner Pro (iOS), but you can also search your device's app store to find even more options.

Scanning documents on a mobile device is quick and easy, but the results aren't always as consistent as you might get with a desktop scanner. Here are a couple of tips to improve the overall quality of your mobile scans:

Love looking at your old films, but tired of messy wires and bulky scanning equipment? Skip the expensive fees and keep things simple with the KODAK Mobile Film Scanner. On the surface, it looks like a cute little box. But put it together, place your smartphone on top, and old photographs become digitized in seconds.

Documentation for the Sophos Intercept X Mobile QR code scanner should probably include something about the limitation of the QR code scanner. I created a 61x61 plain text QR Code using an on-line service, and scanned it three times in a row, the three results were:

By experimenting, I found the problem to be that your scanner can't handle a QR code that fills more than about half the height of the scan window, and it didn't matter if I was scanning the QR code displayed 15 cm square on a monitor or printed 14 cm square on paper. If I held the phone far enough away from the print, it read it properly; too close and it gave me random 8-digit numbers. (In case the problem has something to do with the camera, I'm using a new Samsung Galaxy S8.) Here are 3 identical 81x81 test codes at 200PPI, 300PPI and 600PPI. Even the 200 PPI one doesn't scan properly if I hold the camera too close to it, but far enough so the entire code fits in the scan window.

TapScanner is another free PDF scanner that easily handles images and documents, with an autodetect feature to ensure that any images is properly aligned. In addition to saving as PDF or PNG files, TapScanner also contains an OCR function to covert images to text, and supports over 100 languages. Although the free version contains ads, you can remove these for a monthly or yearly fee.

Tiny Scanner turns your Android phone into a portable document scanner, allowing you to scan documents, receipts, reports, or anything else, and save the files as either a PDF or image file. Files can then be saved in DropBox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and even Evernote, and the scanned files can be directly sent to your PC via wifi. The app is free, and is supported by ads.

As a teacher, I am always scanning documents (answer keys, student work, etc.) and saving the scans as PDF's. For many years, I have user the scanner function on the office photocopier. Now, with the use of a scanning app on my phone, and this stand, I can scan the documents myself. Then after scanning, I can email the scans, upload them to Google Drive or to Dropbox.

I am borrowing this idea from another 'ible. I am finding that this works as a very versatile phone clamp. Follow the directions at this 'ible to assemble the clamp. When the clamp is assembled, simply attach it to the end of the arm.

You're done! Simply slide your phone into the clamp and position the camera over your document. Download your favorite document scanning app to your phone. Optionally, you could remove one of the upright sections to take "close-up-scans".

I was considering making a similar stand out of threaded iron pipe but this was *much* easier and cheaper to build. I wanted to use my Glif to hold the phone so made some mods. My parts and pics are posted above.

I made a copy of this and it works well. One change I did was to offset the vertical from the base since I have an i-phone. Instead of the base being centered with the 4" pieces, I have one that is 5" and another that is 3". This keeps the offset camera centered over the paper.
