Hi , For my project I would like to use the Ignition Perspective app and scan the QR code . From the scanned QR code I wanted to script and get those information to specific fields on my screen. So, my question is, if there is a feature in Ignition just like the Barcode Scanner to scan the QR code and i can retrieve those information from the QR code.

Hi @kvane, one question about barcode scanning: it seems there is no system.perspective.xxxxx function to start a barcode scanning from a python script instead of the action you suggest, is there? I need it because the same button should start either a barcode scan or another action depending on some conditions.

An option you might want to check out is using a QR code scanning app that can integrate with Ignition. You could use something like Smart Engines, which is an OCR technology company that has a QR code scanning app. You might be able to use their app to scan the QR code and then have it automatically send the information to the fields you want in Ignition.

Another option would be to write your script that integrates with a QR code scanning library. There are plenty of open-source libraries out there that you could use. You might want to take a look at Zxing or Google Vision, which are two popular QR code scanning libraries.

I have a new Nexus 5X that says "Manual sign in required" because the QR code scanner is not available. I've verified my Google Play Services version is up-to-date (9.0.83), and I've reinstalled 1Password from the play store a couple of times. Hasn't been an issue on my other devices running the same versions of services and 1P (Nexus 6P, Samsung GS7).

What do I do now? I tried tapping on the Scan the barcode bar at the top. That did not seem to do anything, nut maybe I needed to press and hold. But no, that didn't work either. This is obviously very basic Android stuff that I have yet to learn.

@danco Once the QR code is recognized, scanning should be automatic. You don't need to do anything else. That said, what are you scanning from? Are you using the rear-facing camera and scanning from your Emergency Kit on another device or on paper, or are you scanning from the Android screen? If you uninstall/reinstall 1Password on Android, are you able to scan after?

After a run of bad luck, I've had to factory reset two different Nexus 5x phones three times over the past ~2 weeks. The first two times, I was able to scan the QR code no problem. The most recent time, I received the above referenced error code about Google Play Services and QR code scanner, which led me to this thread. (Hi y'all, used to be a regular but been away for quite a while...)

Thanks for sending over the suggestion. We are fine with adding a location or place of the event. The main problem are the QR codes which come from the conference organisers, like I have described before.

I figured out how the QR code scanning works, building lists etc. My question is more, does it scan all QR codes? at a lot of conferences you need to buy lead scanning to be able to scan the QR codes particpants have on their badges. I cant imagine Hubspot found a way around this. Do you have any idea about this?

You can access the QR code scanner either by navigating directly to the 'More' tab within the Mobile HubSpot app, when creating a new contact straight on the mobile CRM page or long tapping the HubSpot app icon and accessing it through the home screen shortcut. Once tapped, the phone camera is triggered and ready to be pointed to the QR code. QR code is read and encoded vCard type contact information fields are read and displayed in the HubSpot mobile app for final confirmation. You can edit or add any missing contact fields before confirming and creating the new contact in their CRM.

Thank you for the helpful info about the parameters to use to create a list. I'm wondering, is there a "scan date" or a similar property that could also be referenced? The source info is helpful to generate a list for all records that were sourced from the scanner, but if I just want to populate a list with scans from a certain event on a certain day(s), how would that work?

If a contact already exists in the database, but they attend a conference and their QR code is scanned at our booth, how would we include them in a list, if their source info is not a match to the values you provided?

At the moment, we wouldn't have the functionality to pre-populate form values from a QR code. The only option we would have to pre-populate a form would be through cookies in the users' browser. There's more on this one here. We can, though, import contacts into HubSpot using a QR code and the HubSpot mobile app - but I understand this may not work if there is additional data that the contact would need to fill out on the form.

Not strictly within glide. You would probably have to use the image picker to upload an image of the barcode and integrate a third party process to read and return the result of that QR code. Or, you would have to use a third party scanning app that can update your tables.

Since iOS 14.2 we have a problem with the in camera QR code scanner. The square shows up but the pop up with the link does not. Also the scanner is not available in settings>control centre so we cannot add it to the control centre as an icon.

I think both problems are related and I am pretty sure it has something to do with our Jamf School environment as I have no problems with my personal (Identical type) iPad. Unfortunately I can't find anything in the restricions and there does not seem to be an QR code build in application which needs to be added to the whitelist. Nonethless it seems blocked somehow.

i have some iPads (5th gen) with iOS 14.2, on those i don't have this issue. i can add (control center) and access the qr scanner and get the scanner in the camera app directly with link direct. I know there are some issues related only to newer iPad generations.

@FCervini The only management setting that concerns the camera is whether to allow its use or not. Similarly the only management change(not setting) for control centre that affects it's state is if the device is in Shared iPad Mode. Aside from those two no other mdm configurations limit your use of the QR code scanner. I've tested it in our environment on iPads from 7th gen on down to Air 2's.

What I have noticed so far:

- iOS devices prior to version 14 do not have the problem.

- In version 13.4.x or earlier, some iPads have the QR scanner control in the control centre list, others do not.. I can't find a reason yet why some of them have the option and others do not. (EDIT: This is due the Safelist Profile. See beneath)

- When I upgrade to version 14.4 the QR scanner dissapears from the control centre list (If it was visible in the first place) with one exception so far. One iPad mini 5th gen kept the control and after the update the QR code scanner still works. I am not sure what is different as they all share the same restrictions and DEP profile. I need to investigate this one more.

- Turning the QR-code scanner off and back on in the camera settings does not remedy the problem.

- Rebooting the iPad does not remedy the problem.

- Turning the QR scnanner off in the camera settings, then a reboot and turning it back on does not remedy the problem.

- I haven't tried a full reset yet. Probably need to try it if I can't find any other solution. (EDIT: Reset All Settings did not work).

Status update:

I think I am getting closer in solving this issue. The QR-code scanner is affected when using "Safelist and Blocklist" in a profile. As soon as I apply a Safelist profile, the QR-code scanner dissapears in the conctrol centre. The Safelist does not feature a QR-code scanner option so there is no way to turn it on.

Safelists are the bread and butter of managing apps which I use extensively. I really hope there is an option to keep the QR-code scanner active with Safelists. Does anyone have a suggestion to bypass this or do we need to ask Jamf to fix this for us?

@FCervini See my edit below that. I went into my instance of School and didn't see a bundle id input anywhere. Your only options are to try a profile on a test iPad that was created in Profile Creator. The better, less tinkering type of solution, if you can call it a solution, is to submit feedback or a support request to get the OR code scanner added to the built in apps list.

EDIT: Still noticing some other odd behavior: I have iPads where the link pop up doesn't appear in the photo app (scan QR-codes is activated in the settings) even if the scanner is available in control centre (and works there). I have to figure out what the difference is.

Update: I had contact with the developpers. There is no solution whitin Jamf School.

Since the QR code scanner is not really an app, Jamf can't activate it in the Safelists.
