The on-premises data gateway acts as a bridge to provide quick and secure data transfer between on-premises data (data that isn't in the cloud) and several Microsoft cloud services. These cloud services include Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Logic Apps. By using a gateway, organizations can keep databases and other data sources on their on-premises networks, yet securely use that on-premises data in cloud services.

On-premises data gateway: Allows multiple users to connect to multiple on-premises data sources. With a single gateway installation, you can use an on-premises data gateway with all supported services. This gateway is well-suited to complex scenarios in which multiple people access multiple data sources.

In order to access On-Premise Data sources with Power Automate, you need a gateway: -us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-onprem. the Gateway can only be installed in a Windows machine, but you could install the gateway in a machine that has access to that SharePoint over the network. The ideal scenario is to be able to externally access the on premise report server and have security work correctly based on USERNAME() / USERPRINCIPALNAME() (which are both returning FirstName.LastName@domain.com)

I found that you could install a Microsoft on-premises data gateway on a Ec2 instance to ensure private connection between your Power Bi and your data source, but apparently this could work with a SaaS Power BI

I have created a dashboard on Power BI desktop, without realising that there is second version of Power BI RS for creating dashboards for an on-premise Power BI server. I have failed to upload my dashboard either as a .PBIX nor as a template .PBIT to our on-premise Power BI server. Is there any way to convert/import/migrate my work (nearly 20 hours effort) into the on-premise Power BI server without having to re-create everything again?

I have an on-premises HTTP endpoint that I'd like to pass a Bearer token into using the Authorization header. The only problem is this is apparently not supported via the on-premises gateway. I was able to work around this but I don't know how to make this work long term, see below:
