The Mapbox Static Images API produces standalone map images that can be displayed on web and mobile devices without the aid of a mapping library or API. They look like an embedded map without interactivity or controls.

If you have not played with the new breed of AI tools for image creation, you may be missing out on some fun activities. A few months back I had, "played" with Midjourney and found it to be both fascinating and a little addictive. From a blogger's perspective, it didn't seem to offer too much so I took a hiatus from it. Fast-forward to the present and I have been using and sharing my Chat-GPT experiences with text but had put a pause on AI image creators. That was until recently when I had bookmarked some images I saw from Playground.AI.

 Start with a Clear Idea: Before diving into Playground.AI, have a clear concept or idea in mind. Whether it's a nature scene, abstract art, or something surreal, knowing what you want will help you make the most of the platform's tools. Do a Google or Stock photography site image search of something you are interested in. Save it, as that will be a good reference point. Use high-resolution and well-composed images as a starting point.  Understand the Controls: Familiarize yourself with the various controls and settings available on Playground.AI. Experiment with the following parameters to understand how they influence the final image.  

 Model: You can experiment with different models, but if you are just starting off I would recommend just sticking to one. You don't want to be playing with too many variables at one time. Prompt Guidance: Basically gets you as close to your prompt as possible. The natural inclination would be to move the sliding bar all the way to the right to the #30. However, when you do that you get a warning sign and it tells you to keep it in the range 7-10. That makes sense early in your exploration, as you want to ease your way into your "ideal" image. Seed and Sampler: I didn't play with these. I checked off "Randomize" and let it take care of the rest Number of Images: I started off with four, but for your free quota you are limited to 100 images per day. Rather than get four, and another four on repeat of images you don't want, it is better to just select one image at a time so you can maximize the value you get. Quality & Details: Again fairly self-explanatory. The higher the quality the more time it takes. Playground has a stopwatch that counts how long it takes to create an image. As you will be repeatedly changing the controls, it is best to keep this around 50, whereas the maximum is 150. Plus you have to pay if you go above 51. Private Session: Until you feel confident that you want to share your work, it is best to keep your content private. Blend AI with Human Creativity. Although some of the images that Playground.AI creates are truly amazing, my thoughts about it are similar to Chat.GPT. Use this tool to create a first draft. Your creativity as well as your Designer adds the human touch, so use the best of both worlds. My preference is to get the image to a certain acceptable level and then pass it on as a reference to your Designer.  Practice makes Perfect. As with most things in life, if you want to acquire a skill, nothing beats iterating and refining it. Don't settle for the first result. Playground.AI allows you to iterate and refine your creations. Experiment with settings, compare different versions, and choose the one that aligns best with your vision. 

 Overusing Styles: While blending styles can yield fascinating results, overusing multiple styles in a single image might lead to a cluttered or confusing output. Maintain a balance and ensure the styles complement each other. Ignoring Composition: AI-generated images still benefit from strong compositional principles. Neglecting composition can result in a visually unappealing image, even if the AI's technical execution is flawless. Being Impatient: AI image generation can take time, especially if you're experimenting with complex styles or high-resolution images. Avoid the temptation to rush the process; let the AI work its magic at its own pace. Not Adding a Personal Touch: While Playground.AI is a fantastic tool, adding your personal touch is what makes your creations unique. Don't rely solely on AI; infuse your creativity to make the image truly yours. 

Playground.AI opens the door to a world of creative possibilities, allowing you to harness the power of AI for image generation. Just as fyi, if you want to add text or other design elements, you have to download the image in the resolution you want and then import it to a tool like Canva. By following these best practices and avoiding the pitfalls, Playground.AI can be your artistic playground for producing captivating AI-assisted artwork. The IIIF Image API makes requests to images using a specified URI syntax which changes what image is requested. The syntax consists of a way to identify the image to be requested, as well as additional parameters that can be used to modify the way the image comes back. These request parameters can modify the region of the image, its size, rotation, quality, and the image format. See the API documentation for parameter options you can use.

The Amazon Bedrock playgrounds provide you a console environment to experiment with running inference on different models and with different configurations, before deciding to use them in an application. In the console, access the playgrounds by choosing Playgrounds in the left navigation pane. You can also navigate directly to the playground when you choose a model from a model details page or the examples page.

Within each playground you can enter prompts and experiment with inference parameters. Prompts are usually one or more sentences of text that set up a scenario, question, or task for a model. For information about creating prompts, see Prompt engineering guidelines.

Inference parameters influence the response generated by a model, such as the randomness of generated text. When you load a model into a playground, the playground configures the model with its default inference settings. You can change and reset the settings as you experiment with the model. The chat playground lets you experiment with the chat models that Amazon Bedrock provides. You can submit a chat to a model and the chat playground shows the response from the model, and the following metrics.

By turning on compare model, you can compare the chat responses for a single prompt with the responses from up to three models. This helps you to understand the comparative performance of each model, without having to switch between models. For more information, see Use a playground.

The text playground lets you experiment with the text models that Amazon Bedrock provides. You can submit text to a model and the text playground shows the text that the model generates from the prompt.
