Tap the Graphite Pencil in the toolbar. Drag up or down over the Size control to set the brush tip size, and then do the same for Flow to control the amount applied with each stroke. Tap Color and pick from built-in color themes, or mix a color using the color Picker. Finally, refine additional settings and start sketching.

P.S. I was on a plane and finally using the app and shocked it was actually not asking for a login like usual (a reason I have bought other iPad sketching apps (nothing like a nag screen you paid for to kill inspiration when you are finally opening the application. I am pretty devistated...

This is real simple. People had adobe sketch. They download it with their iPads when the app was no longer available and they used Adobe Fresco. Their art is gone. It's the same account it's the same account I download the software with it's the same account. Where is the art? Where's the hours of art it's gone. Hard to trust after. Such a disaster.

Yeah, this stuff is not too cool. I had adobe sketch and now I upgraded because they got rid of the program and all of my images are gone. I signed them with Apple to get the application. I didn't sign in with anything else ever, so where is my stuff? This is not user-friendly in anyway

I'm on a new to me iPad Pro and experiencing the same issues. I followed all your steps above and did receive the prompts from adobe sketch, adobe draw, photoshop, and lightroom, as well as another app I am trying to use, "Colorfy." At first, the permission in settings said "add to photos." After I attempt to add a photo to a draw layer, the apps all ask permission to access photos and then the permission in settings changes to "read and write." Except adobe sketch, draw, photoshop, and Colorfy all crash the iPhoto popup after ~2 seconds. The app stays open. Lightroom allows me to access them properly. There is no change in notes and notes does not ask for permissions when I tap the camera icon. My question is if this has to do with iCloud? I appreciate your help and can send any screenshots needed.

I'm having same issue with iPad Pro. All my apps work fine adding photos to drawing apps, ie: Adobe Sketch and Adobe Draw (Vector) however recently Adobe Draw has quit uploading photos after successfully working on 6 previous projects. When you select add photo the selection screen will not scroll to bottom choices. The only photos I can add to project are vector stock. Meanwhile Adobe Sketch works perfect? I've even logged back in with different account and same issues uploading photos from iPad Pro to app but only Adobe Draw, Adobe sketch uploads with no issues? I miss using the draw app terribly ?

First, open the photo that you want to work with. To open your photo, go to File > Open, choose your photo, and click Open. Now, before we get started on the Photoshop sketch effect, just check a couple of things:

Now we are going to create the base sketch. Select the Background layer and go to Layer > New > Layer Via Copy to duplicate the Background layer, and then drag that new layer to the top of the layers in the Layers panel. Press D on your keyboard to reset the swatches and go to Filter > Filter Gallery > Sketch > Photocopy and choose the settings below:

Now we are going to create a draft Photoshop sketch filter. Go to Layer > New > Layer Via Copy to duplicate the Base Sketch layer. Pick the Lasso Tool (L), click anywhere inside the canvas, choose Free Transform, and increase the width and height to 105% as shown below:

The next step in learning how to make a picture look like a drawing is creating a rough sketch. Select the Background layer and go to Layer > New > Layer Via Copy to duplicate the Background layer, and then drag that new layer to the top of the layers in the Layers panel. Go to Filter > Filter Gallery > Artistic > Cutout and choose the settings below:

Now we are going to create more rough sketch layers using the same method. So repeat Step 1 and Step 2 in this section, but in Step 1 instead of using the settings we used the previous time, use the new settings below:

Now we are going to group all these rough sketch Photoshop layers. While the layer RS_6 is selected, Shift-click on the RS_1 layer to select these two layers and all other layers between them. Then go to Layer > New > Group from Layers to create a new group from the selected layers and name it Rough Sketch.

Now we are going to create some subtle shading for this photo to sketch effect in Photoshop. Select the Background layer and go to Layer > New > Layer Via Copy to duplicate the Background layer, and then drag that new layer to the top of the layers in the Layers panel. Go to Filter > Stylize > Find Edges and then go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.

In this step, we are going to add some noise to our photo to sketch Photoshop design. Select the Shading_1 layer and go to Layer > New > Layer to create a new layer and name it Noise.

Now we are going to add a nice color look to our Photoshop sketch effect. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Curves to create a new curves adjustment layer and name it Color Look.

Now we are going to make some final adjustments to our photo to sketch effect in Photoshop. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Photo Filter to create a new photo filter adjustment layer and name it Photo Tint.

Now we are going to add some vibrance and saturation to the Photoshop pencil sketch effect. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Vibrance to create a new vibrance adjustment layer and name it Overall Vibrance/Saturation.

This is a view of the main street in Samara, Costa Rica, where I was teaching a plein air workshop. I had a great time sketching and painting in town, with the usual problem of people not holding still and posing. When I got home I wanted to do one large studio painting that would sum up my whole two week experience and express the casual charm of of this Pacific coast beach town.

In the Photoshop sketch version, the fence and trees in the background have been flipped to the left and a barn from another photo has been added in the upper left to balance the mass of buildings on the right. A bit of sky was added to show some hill tops.

In the painted version, I added a figure from my sketchbook. The dry creekbed in the foreground has become a dirt road leading into the scene. The buildings are simplified and shifted to show more of the road winding through the composition.
