You can stay connected to your work or home computers from your mobile device at all times. This lets you remain close to your work during emergencies, regardless of your location. For instance, you are in a meeting with a client, and you need a file. But you realize the office computer has the file in it. In this situation, you can remotely connect to a distant computer and access files effortlessly.

"RemotePC is affordable but does't skimp on quality. It performs well, especially between Windows computers, and its business plans cost much less than the competition."

"IDrive's RemotePC not only offers excellent remote control of your desktop (even of Android devices!), it can also leverage the company's online storage service (extra) for backup. Fast and feature-rich withmultiple-OS support, there's also a meetings (Zoom, Skype, etc.) facility for only $10 a year."

"RemotePC is fast, secure, and easy-to-use remote desktop software, with lots of features, an affordable price-tag, and easy scale-ability that businesses will appreciate."Christian Rigg, TechRadar. Mar 2020

I'm running windows 10 with all the latest updates. I noticed a couple of weeks ago I was getting no sound from any of the 3 computers I am remote managing, even though they worked before. All 3 computers have normal sound when used stand-alone, and my management console computer is also working fine with sound. All 3 stopped sending sound at the same time I think.

This option is poorly placed and poorly labeled. It isn't handling just voice from the remote device, which you'd normally assume would be simply the microphone input from the remote device. In fact, it controls how all sounds from the remote device are played.

This should be fixed in a future update, either fixing whatever functionality has changed, or re-label the settings option to make it clear that this is not only "voice" (ie microphone input from remote computer), but is actually all sounds from the remote computer.

You can use Remote Desktop to connect to and control your PC from a remote device by using a Microsoft Remote Desktop client (available for Windows, iOS, macOS and Android). When you allow remote connections to your PC, you can use another device to connect to your PC and have access to all of your apps, files, and network resources as if you were sitting at your desk.

You can use Remote Desktop to connect to Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, Windows 8.1 and 8 Enterprise and Pro, Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate, and Windows Server versions newer than Windows Server 2008. You can't connect to computers running a Home edition (like Windows 10 Home).

To connect to a remote PC, that computer must be turned on, it must have a network connection, Remote Desktop must be enabled, you must have network access to the remote computer (this could be through the Internet), and you must have permission to connect. For permission to connect, you must be on the list of users. Before you start a connection, it's a good idea to look up the name of the computer you're connecting to and to make sure Remote Desktop connections are allowed through its firewall.

The simplest way to allow access to your PC from a remote device is using the Remote Desktop options under Settings. Since this functionality was added in the Windows 10 Fall Creators update (1709), a separate downloadable app is also available that provides similar functionality for earlier versions of Windows. You can also use the legacy way of enabling Remote Desktop, however this method provides less functionality and validation.

To configure your PC for remote access, download and run the Microsoft Remote Desktop Assistant. This assistant updates your system settings to enable remote access, ensures your computer is awake for connections, and checks that your firewall allows Remote Desktop connections.

Be aware that when you enable access to Remote Desktop, you are granting anyone in the Administrators group, as well as any additional users you select, the ability to remotely access their accounts on the computer.

If you want to restrict who can access your PC, choose to allow access only with Network Level Authentication (NLA). When you enable this option, users have to authenticate themselves to the network before they can connect to your PC. Allowing connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with NLA is a more secure authentication method that can help protect your computer from malicious users and software. To learn more about NLA and Remote Desktop, check out Configure NLA for RDS Connections.

Hi All, I am trying to connect a Windows 10 pc back to an MX64 via the VPN Client. After trying to connect to it I receive, "This connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed." I have followed the Meraki documentation to set up the VPN client on my windows 10 machine. I have the correct hostname, the correct pre-shared secret key, and my Meraki auth is correct as well. I have a two-factor setup for my user, and at first, I thought that was the issue, but I tried it again with the user who doesn't have two-factor on, and we still get the error. I have removed the VPN connection in Windows twice, IPV6 disabled, PAP, and mschapv2 enabled. I cannot find out where I am going wrong here I have seen this issue multiple times. I have check firewall rules and service startup as well.

Warner College of Natural resources provides numerous services and software through its various computer labs. However, students may find that they require the functionalities of the lab on-the-go, during lecture, or even at home. The Remote Computer Labs are virtually-hosted labs allowing access to lab software, the network drive (N-Drive), and access to a Windows operating system, all on a powerful system capable of handling intensive workloads and processing. This is a great way to continue your studies, without physically being on campus.

From here you can choose the lab you need access to from the list of labs on the lefthand side of the page. After you have selected the correct lab you should have a list of available computers that you can remote into. Select the computer you would like to use by clicking the blue "Connect" button.

PS: I have an older computer that also runs Windows-10, but I was able to get the ALT-TAB working with the registry update. However, not it in my new laptop for reasons described above.

A couple guys in my engineering/it department at my company have started running windows 7. We've gone from the standard "Administrator" account to a custom IT admin account. Everything has been working fine except for remote computer management.

Worked for me!

Had a remote user unable to authenticate Windows Office as they required admin rights, couldn't log him remotely through the local admin to give him local admin rights so went through Computer Management as our local admin user and setup a new account for him with admin rights.

Worked a charm! :)

Students can remotely connect to Open Access Lab computers and utilize the software applications installed on the workstations. To do so, students will need to have their MyCalStateLA username and password ready and follow the steps provided below. All Open Access Labs are available for remote access following the academic calendar.

The left sidebar is a list of departments, and selecting a department will bring up a list of computer labs that are available. Click on a lab name to see the list of hosts in that location. Please pay attention to any notes for departments or specific labs. Some labs have restricted access listed in their notes.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering department maintains a VM lab and 541 Davis computer lab for remote access providing engineering software. The labs may be used by students enrolled in CEE classes.

Students in the College of Health and Human Sciences have 24/7 remote access to computer labs, which can be accessed via Windows and Mac computers with a current operating system and internet access. Please note that the CSU Global Protect VPN client must be installed and connected before accessing a computer.

There are several software applications that do not work remotely. For a complete list of software available and a list of software that does not work remotely, visit Lab Software Available Via Remote Access.

If you need to move files between the lab computer and your personal computer, your university OneDrive account can be used to upload and download files through a web browser. You can access OneDrive through the Office 365 Portal at and signing in with your university Office 365 account (ename@colostate.edu and eID password).

IT departments are responsible for managing and controlling access to an ever-growing inventory of on-site and off-site servers, computers and devices. Yet relying on multiple remote connection tools and password managers is inefficient, frustrating and unsecure. Instead of being treated to streamlined clarity, IT pros, sysadmins and help desk technicians struggle with ongoing chaos. The solution is to centralize remote connection technologies, remote machine data, password management, and access control on a platform that is secure, scalable, and refreshingly simple to use. 006ab0faaa
