If you prefer to use a kindle app or device you can still use the Overdrive website to download the book to your computer or device. In your web browser search for a book you want to check out and select "Borrow".

Kindle users can borrow free eBooks from Baltimore County Public Library through BCPL's the Overdrive website or through the BCPL library catalog. Kindle eBooks are not available through the Cloud Library. You will need a BCPL library card or e-card or will need to register your library card from another library with BCPL.

The Overdrive collection of ebooks is available to customers with a BCPL library card in good standing, an Amazon account set up and a Kindle device or reading app registered with Amazon.

Note: The Epubor Ultimate will save the original Overdrive ebook on you ADE folder and create a new kindle format ebook, click "folder" at the bottom right corner to get the new book.

Connect Kindle paperwhite to your computer with a USB cable, it will appear as a removable storage device. Choose the new kindle books and copy them to your kindle paperwhite. Or you can try to send the converted books to Kindle without USB connection. Now you can read the Overdrive eBooks on Paperwhite freely and easily.

I tested the above with my library ebooks which has a 21 days expiry period. My objective was to read the epub books on my kindle paperwhite and while this method works, the book does not "remove" itself after 21 days because the DRM has been removed. I would prefer a solution that allows me to read the library ebook without violating the rules of DRM.

The Aldiko reading app lets you check-out and read library books directly within the app.

You just need to configure it with your library (overdrive) account info.

For my purposes, Aldiko has much better reading features than the Overdrive app itself.

I use overdrive all the time to download library books and love it. while reading I notice that if I accidentally touch it in a certain way I bring up a dictionary. I would like to know how to control that function correctly and learn of any other functions that may be available on the app? Any tips on where to find this info?
