These copycat breadsticks are not vegan, and I have not tried using plant-based butter in this recipe. However, several readers have had success with Country Crock plant-based sticks (avocado oil based) or using olive oil in the dough and Earth Balance for the topping. If you give anything else a try, let me know how it goes!

These recipes are inspired by some of our favorite restaurant dishes. In every case, we loved the homemade version even better because of higher quality ingredients, healthier fats (olive oil), less salt and of course a lower bill!

No one can resist these! And since they're made fresh from scratch they're even better than Olive Gardens!Servings: 12Prep25 minutes minutesCook11 minutes minutesResting2 hours hours 30 minutes minutesReady in: 3 hours hours 6 minutes minutesIngredients1 cup + 2 Tbsp warm water (110 - 115 degrees)1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast2 Tbsp granulated sugar, divided3 - 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (scoop and level to measure)1 3/4 tsp salt3 Tbsp vegetable oil or olive oilTopping2 Tbsp butter1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)1/4 tsp garlic powderInstructionsIn the bowl of an electric stand mixer whisk together warm water, yeast and 1/2 tsp granulated sugar until yeast has dissolved. Allow to rest 10 minutes. Add in remaining 1 Tbsp + 2 1/2 tsp granulated sugar, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 3/4 tsp salt and vegetable oil, then fit mixer with paddle attachment and blend mixture until well combine. Switch mixer to dough hook attachment, add in remaining 1 1/2 cups flour and knead mixture on low speed, adding up to 1/4 cup additional flour as needed, and knead until dough is smooth and elastic*. Transfer dough to a large buttered mixing bowl, cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest in a warm place free from draft until double, about 1 1/2 hours.Punch risen dough down, divide into 12 equal portions (2 ounces each by weight), keep them covered with plastic wrap as you work. Roll each piece into a 9 inch rope on a lightly floured surface, then transfer to two parchment paper lined baking sheets. Cover and let rise 1 hour. Preheat oven to 425 during the last 10 minutes of rising.Bake in preheated oven 11 - 13 minutes until golden**. Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk together 1/4 tsp salt and garlic powder. Remove breadsticks from oven and run a stick of butter over hot breadsticks (using 2 Tbsp, or brush with melted butter) and immediately sprinkle with garlic salt mixture.Serve warm. Let any left over cool and store in an airtight container.Notes*Dough should pull away from sides of the bowl but should still be slightly sticky. If you add too much flour dough becomes too hard to shape and breadsticks will be drier and denser.**If you want rolls more golden brown on top you can move oven rack up one level to bake. Just keep an eye on them too, every oven varies.Nutrition FactsBreadsticks Recipe (Olive Garden Copycat)Amount Per ServingCalories 170Calories from Fat 54% Daily Value*Fat 6g9%Saturated Fat 4g25%Cholesterol 5mg2%Sodium 407mg18%Potassium 45mg1%Carbohydrates 26g9%Fiber 1g4%Sugar 2g2%Protein 4g8%Vitamin A 58IU1%Calcium 5mg1%Iron 1mg6%* Percent Daily Values are based on a 2000 calorie diet.Nutrition values are estimates only. I can't compare it to OG, since we don't live near one, but WOW!! this soup is fantastic! I used all farm-fresh ingredients from my CSA, and had thyme in my garden ("makes' the whole recipe, so don't skip it, imho). I used 1 cup heavy cream and 1 cup whole milk, and it was just fine. Other than that, it was worth the prep, and I loved that I could share it with an older couple dealing with Covid recovery.

thank you olive garden for your wonderful gift to our vets. your gift is well appreciated by all military. my wife and i did not know of this. i will continue to patronise olive garden. thank you again

So why did Olive Garden feel the need to come up with its own fancy lingo? Most likely to draw in customers. Unfortunately for Olive Garden, it did the opposite. Customers weren't fans of the unfamiliar dishes featuring gourmet-sounding ingredients. In fact, the lack of consumer interest in the menu items with fake names was partly to blame for half of the chain's disappointing sales (via Orlando Sentinel). Due to the failure of these menu items, Olive garden decided to get back to the basics with traditional Italian dishes and promote specials with familiar names their customers would recognize. Sticking with the tried and true, it appears what Olive Garden customers really want are the classics. I guess it really is best not to mess with a good thing.

Were you one of the lucky ones to get the Olive Garden unlimited pass for $100? If not, you may have resorted to eBay. According to Mental Floss, when Olive garden released their Never Ending Pasta Pass, people lost it. The pass, which allows for unlimited pasta, soup, and salad for a limited time is a popular commodity that sells out instantly. This in turn presents a problem for those that are left without endless pasta. That's where eBay comes in. Due to sold-out Never Ending Passes, people were turning to eBay to try and get their hands on one. Unfortunately, those passes not only cost up to $300, but most of them were also fake. 17dc91bb1f
