okay, so i recently bought premiere pro and all the other apps that come with the new black friday deal. I worked with premiere pro on my school's computer and finally downloaded it onto my macbook air. I'm not super good with technology but i noticed that the premiere pro on my mac book looks like an older version than the one used at my school. It won't let me open school projects. anyone know what's up?

In the finder window where you have your premiere projects, click on the folder icon at the top and drag it into

the terminal window. Release once the plus sign appears on the folder.

Is there any way at all (perhaps with a plugin, paid or otherwise) to save an Adobe Premiere Pro project file so that it's compatible with an older version of the software? The scenario I have is that I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 but I need to send project files for editing to someone who only has CS3.

Not reeeeeally. At least - it's much less than the current accepted answer on this thread. If you export something as an xml file on premiere you will effectively lose most of the editing you've done. Aside from maybe the most basic sequences. All the colour correction, Sound work, etc is gone. With this method - yes some of that will disappear if you are working on an old enough version of premiere. But, I'm talking like five years old. If the difference is CC2017 and CC2016. Sure you'll lose any effects that only exist in CC2017. But I would bet this is mostly niche stuff and 99.999% of your project will probably be fine! But - even if it isn't - say you make some small changes to your downgraded version on CC2016. If you copy the downgraded version to a computer with CC2017, after the changes have been made. All the newer features will still be there. So as long as you render on the computer with CC2017 nothing will be lost.

guys. I know this is an old topic, but I just found something that worked for me.I don't really know why, but it did. A friend has send me a project created with a recent version.I could open it, but only by clicking in the "download bar" in the bottom of my browser (google chrome). If I open the folder where the file was saved, I could't open it, but by clicking on the "google chrome download bar", it opens!

I saved a Premiere Pro Project File in the current Version Premiere Pro and I had to install an older version of Premiere Pro. But it was not able to open the Premiere Pro File anymore. I always got the message

I have a dongle! I paid a $$$$$$ LOT $$$$$$ of money for my dongle box set of software that I never got to work properly in the day. My laptop and my MAC could not handle AVID and burned up hard drives or had software incompatibility issues!

I have been asking for years for a paid version that I can own, besides the one I have that is super, super old. I am an original owner and bought it at Moviola.

I need customer service to work with me regarding this, because I would like to finish projects that I started on other systems (Moviola Classes) or past 30 day trials. I have tried in the past, and never got a resolution. Only another trial offer. This is nice, but it does not work for me. I feel as if I have paid and assisted in putting AVID where it is today, but I have no benefits of it!!!

What can we work out? I heard the new software, does not let me work on my old projects. What are the facts? What version of AVID do I need to be compatible with older projects? What are the solutions to my problems?

Sync Settings is great when it works and, if your system clock is correct, it should work most of the time. But to guard against those moments when it might not, I like to manually backup the whole profile folder so I can grab files from it if anything goes wrong.

Later you can import the custom .prfpset file into the new version from the same right-click menu in the Presets part of the Effects panel. This is how I made my preset pack, which is currently at version 4 and free to download from premierepro.net.

For convenience, I store my Media Cache Files, audio Peak Files, After Effects Disk Cache, and Audition temp files in the same folder. That way, when I want to delete them, I can just delete everything in that folder.

Ohhh no no no no no. Windows 10 was essentially modeled after OS X. I'm a proficient user of both OSs for many years now. New OS X versions can also break older programs from running, and introduce new features you don't care about at all.

Sometimes you can't upgrade, even if you want to, and are entitled to.

My older iMac can't run the newest OSX, and consequently can't run the newest Photoshop. My version is 19.1.8, so I'm just off Adobe's naughty list ... for the moment. I do get camera raw updates, but not much else. Until I plump for a new computer, I'm out of luck.

For example because the latest versions of CC don't run on their hardware. Everything CC 2019 is macOS 10.12 minimum. Not because it needs to be but because Adobe decided to compile against that macOS SDK to limit their testing and support work. Apple in turn "restricted" the availability of 10.12 to Macs beyond a certain age, without technical need as 10.12 can be hacked to run on older hardware - but you don't get official security patches etc. All the same nonsense...

So Adobe is inconveniencing and annoying a large number of its customers because they're in the middle of a dispute with another company (Dolby) over technologies that Adobe licensed and put into their products, but apparently didn't pay for. The heavy-handed way in which Adobe is doing this is probably going to lose them a lot of customers, as they're putting a lot of the burden of this dispute on their users. Dolby is unlikely to sue individual users over infringing older versions of Adobe software, but Adobe is more or less threatening its users with the prospect of possible legal action by Dolby which is unlikely to happen. Adobe is using this "threat" to get their users to help them with their current "solution", which is to get all users to "upgrade" to non-infringing versions. This is all really Adobe's problem to work out with Dolby, but Adobe is making its users implement the "solution", inconveniencing many of them in the process. Nice going, Adobe.

I'm assuming that you're talking about Photo CDs, correct? If that's the case you should check with LaserSoft Imaging to see if they still offer their SilverFast Photo CD software, or whether another one of their products will open the PCD file format. I have SilverFast Photo CD, but it's an older version (6.x) and the latest versions of that software is version 8.x.

With the help of this tool a Premiere Project saved with the newer version 2018 or even 2021 can be opened in Speedgrade (version 2015.1), grade your project and then saved and reopened again in the newer Premiere version 2021 (or 2018) (older version can also be set).

The Project file can now be opened in Speedgrade. Grade your project as usual, save the Project file and then just convert it again with the PrProBCC converter (which can be left opened in the background) back to the newest 2021 version format so it can be opened in Premiere 2021 without the notice of an older file format needed to be saved before you can edit it.

INFO: If you close the Converter Tool while a Premiere Project is beeing converted to version CC 2015.2 the converter assumes that the last project which was beeing converted was the latest version which is available from Adobe Premiere (e.g. 2021).
