Supposedly, today steam updated the whole client and my autistic ass doesn't like it, because it's simpler. I tried switching betas, but both options give the same results. Is it impossible or does it take some special tinkering?

Sorry I am late just goto the steam app click on the Library click ksp look to the left and you will see a small list of your games right click it then select Properties then goto beta then select the version you want!

Download Older Version Of Game On Steam

You only need to worry about the first three arguments to it. Type the command, then the app ID, depot ID, and the manifest ID of the depot version you want. 7. Wait for Steam to download the depot. You won't see any indication of progress, but you can tell it's downloading by looking at the network usage on your downloads page. The download can pause/resume if your connection goes out, but won't if you restart the client. 8. After the download is done, Steam will show you where the files were downloaded to. 9. Go to the game's installation directory, and move the files somewhere else. Then go to where the depot files were downloaded to, and move everything over to the game folder. 10. You may have to rename the game's EXE file if the dev changed the launch options recently. You can find the current EXE name by going to the game's SteamDB page and clicking on the Configuration tab. 11. You should now be able to launch the old version through Steam.

I saw this site. They say you need a pirated steam client to use older versions. I don't want to do that. I really don't want to get in trouble. I wonder if I could just ask Steam themselves if there is a clean way to use their older versions.

Also Steam games before when 98 support was dropped were still mostly the usual Valve (with Day of Defeat Source being the most recent), plus a handful of third party indie (Darwinia, Ragdoll Kung Fu etc). It likely won't be possible to dust off and use that old green thing with the more recent Steam libraries due to new steam_api.dll callbacks and etc.

Seriously, with Microsoft around and as quickly as computer stuff changes I really doubt Valve will be around for decades. I admit, there are times where I like to fire up and old game or two but my free time is limited these days, and as I get older I became ever more aware of the fact that I don't have that much time left.

If your OSX Client isn't working, before using an older version, try heading to the Steam community forum and see if there are others with the same issue. If possible, reinstall the client. (You SHOULD be able to do this without having to redownload the games already installed.)

to be fair, the steam version of half-life has never ever supported any MiniGL drivers, and would probably consider it as a cheat if you tried one online. and i wouldn't bother with anything newer than 1.1.0.x retail anyway since the steam version also axes a couple renderer-related features

The first thing we'll do is enable the Steam Console. You'll want to have Steam running before proceeding. If you're downloading an older version of a paid game, you'll also want to be logged into an account that owns that game.

Click Manifests on the side. This page is showing all the different updates, as well as how long ago those updates were released. You may need to sign in to SteamDB to see updates older than a year.

Cool, but how to stop steam / ark auto updating to the latest version when it starts? The only way I have come right with old versions is using an emulator to bypass the auto update. (I have a several zipped "snapshots" of the game from as far back as 2015 - maybe version 170 ish - but cant run them through steam without it kicking an update).

I like to play older versions of ONI from time to time because it feels like completely different game over time it evolved. Also I'm doing this guide mostly for myself so I can get back to it later when I need it. Might as well share it right?

Warning! Command uses your steam username and password for login so if you're worried about your password as you should be, change your steam password to some temporary new password before doing this if you don't trust this app! Don't forget to change it back once you're done.

Now that you downloaded your game inside steam depot you'll find downloaded depots inside folders with numbers like 457141 and inside that folder 7379531 you'll find files that most likely have oxygennotincluded.exe and some other folders and files

Next go to your klei/ONI documents folder eg. C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded and back it up make copy of folder OxygenNotIncluded, you'll need it later if you want to return to newest version again and you don't want your config files acting up.

It seems like every new update breaks the game in some way, and simply having the ability to stay on an older version (or revert to an even older version than currently) would be absolutely fantastic for making the game more functional in general.

After which I renamed the folder 'depot_251571' to 'Alpha 5.0' and moved it to be with the rest of my collection, cleared all registry and save entries, then ran the app from the folder to test. Working Alpha 5.0, delivered from Steam in 2019.

Being able to play version 0.426 is neat, although you do required to have downloaded this installer in the past. Also keep note that save games aren't playable if you downgrade (I've never tried but I'm pretty sure it would mess up things badly).

You can however run a second installation of a different version of TLD alongside another one if you install them in separate folders. You only need to make sure you remember which save runs on which version.

When I run the command promt, go to my DCS folder and execute the line "DCS_Updater.exe update 2.7.5.10869@release" then the updater loads up and give the error message "Version 2.7.5.10869 is not available. Consider updating". But the Updater is the most current one (2.16.2.170).

I suspect you're just trying to dig up too old of a corpse and the message in the log really means what it means. ED keeps only a few of recent, older builds on their servers for a while (a while being two-three months maybe? Not sure). Then they're permanently deleted to make space for the next ones. Searching for better VR performance you might be lucky with one of 2.7.17-2.7.18 builds, but the one you gave in your example is from summer of 2021 - and thus it's looooong gone.

I suppose we could plan for it, by cloning relevant folders before every new release (or creating a system restore point?), and then you could roll back after a bad update by restoring those backup folders and presumably... disconnecting from the internet during the startup of the sim would prevent it from updating?

The sim runs in 'potato mode' (terrain looks like FSX) with Bing Data and Photogrammetry turned off. You can preset weather and turn off multiplayer traffic. It should be theoretically possible to run an older version without hitting any of the external servers in a way that causes any issues (either for the client or the server). But I'm not aware that anyone has developed a procedure to do this. And the procedure would be different for the MS Store version vs Steam version.

Versions 3.10.8.5, 3.11.9.1 and 3.12.3 are all Steam versions, but they will not overwrite your settings and, unfortunatedly, multiplayer still may be broken. You can change steam app ID back to 304930, but they may not launch properly.

think it can by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2014\data\updates you will see various folders 1401/ 1403 etc remove them and set the game to DO NOT UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY (you do this by opening steam icon select fm14 right click -properties-updates hope that helps

It could be done if someone has set their steam to not update, and have not updated to the newest version, but they would have to upload specific files onto something like dropbox for you to download and replace the existing files in your steam folder, but you would have to look that up for yourself as im sure its not recommended or wanted by SI.

By default it is set to NONE - Opt out of all beta programs (which means that one uses the current version). On this list you will see several versions listed, but not the currently released version. Despite the way this is presented by Steam, these older version are not beta versions, instead they are the earlier released (live) versions. Choosing one of these causes Steam to install the files from that version on your computer.

Sorry for bad English. After I made the Steam SDK integration into my project, steam no longer wants the editor or after it is packaged because my editor is trying to load the version of the SDK 1.39 but I have implanted the version of SDK 1.42 which is the latest and the only one available at the moment. I have already made all the progress of Add folder
