The Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Program provides opportunities that foster and cultivate a diverse university-based research capability and talented workforce and prepares motivated students to launch successful homeland security-related careers.

The primary role of the Academic Scholarship Office is to administer university-wide merit-based scholarships and serve as a central resource for prospective and current undergraduate students seeking scholarship funding. The office also serves as a clearinghouse for scholarships awarded by academic departments and outside agencies. Our goal is to support the university's mission of recruiting and retaining high-achieving students who enrich and diversify the academic environment of the University of Arkansas.

NOVEMBER 1 - Priority Admissions Deadline: Complete an admissions application, submit transcripts, and send test scores to the office of admissions by this date. Within 48 hours of application submission, the scholarship application will be available in your New Student Center.

The Office of the Registrar serves as the home for student academic records and related services, including grading, degree audit, academic advisement reports, student data, enrollment and degree verification, transcripts, central class scheduling, final exam scheduling, implementation of academic policies, records management, articulation and awarding of transfer credit and diplomas. We preserve the integrity of the academic record and student data while providing high quality, student-centered services. We collaborate with others across the university to support the attainment of related university goals.

1Capen provides walk-in assistance for services related to these areas. The Office of the Registrar along with 1Capen offers assistance to all students, staff, faculty, parents, and the university community.

The University of Maryland provides Ombuds services for faculty, staff, graduate students and undergraduate students. Each Ombuds office operates in a different setting and with different reporting responsibilities. However, all of them share a common purpose and operate on the same basic Ombuds principles.

An Ombuds officer, Ombudsman, or simply "Ombuds" is a person who can be consulted by members of the university community who want to get information about University policies relating to their activities or who encounter problems that they cannot resolve through ordinary channels (i.e., student to teacher, staff to supervisor, faculty member to department chair.)* An Ombuds listens to complaints and helps, if possible, to resolve them. Sometimes the Ombuds simply provides information and counseling, or helps complainants develop strategies for dealing with their problems on their own. At other times, when authorized by the complainant, the Ombuds contacts other involved parties and attempts to work out mutually satisfactory solutions.

Graphic and Style Standards provide a guide to applying the University's visual identity in a clear and consistent manner. These standards cover name and logo usage, official university colors, stationery, and buildings and locations. These documents assist communicators in developing materials that present a strong, consistent message about the University.
